No longer a pub. Now used by a charity.

Walked past it on the way to the Marble Arch (yes it is a bit of a diversion.) place is still standing, but in need of saving. With the re-generation of the rest of the area I think it is a prime site for someone to invest in. It would be a shame to see it knocked down to make way for even more soul-less apartments.

The Pot is still standing although there is a recent notice on its door pointing to a council web site. Permission is being sought to pull it down to make way for apartments. For all the council's talk of architectural continuity and regional identity, the Pot stands as a reminder that the late sixties and seventies saw some wholesale vandalism of buildings which had a need to remain. Manchester's current makeover is destined to look tired and bleak in years to come without street-level amenities and curios like this pub. I may as well start saying "I told you so" already.

Heard a rumour that it has finally been demolished. Can any Manchester residents confirm this?
|
I think I started that rumour.. more wishful thinking than anything. It beggars belief that whoever bought it won't look at the Marble Arch nearby and realise there is a market for decent pubs. Of all the thousands of people now living on its doorstep how could it not succeed?

Cosy pub selling three to four real ales at any one time along with a couple of belgium draft beers such as Leffe and Hoegarten. The atmosphere is relaxed and easy - pub is a bit on the small side and tends to get packed on a weekend night. There are benches to sit on outside on a warm summer's evening. I can't remeber hearing a juke box (?) and there is definatley no pool table. A good pub to relax in and enjoy yourself - customers seem to be of an older breed so no printworks drinkers here.Excellent curry restaurant at the top of the road too. Prices not bad pint of real ale about 1.80 - Rate 9/10
