OK......No ale, staff good enough, punters very friendly, nice selection of wine and lager and a nice enough garden.....Not really a pub but will definitely go back for those type of occasions.

Wife back on thursday with different one of the girls. Came back trollied having had a great evening!! I must make more of an effort to use on a regular basis for a while!

My wife and her best friend were here midweek, a few halves of bitter and wine with food in the garden. Good atmosphere (more customers than expected), good beer/wine and good food. Good, well done!

We went to The Treehouse in Croydon on Sat 9th Jan. We were a group of 8 and were out celebrating a birthday. We picked the Treehouse because we had heard fab reviews. How very very disappointed we all were with our dining experience.
My sister and I arrived earlier than the rest of our group so had a drink in the bar area and then made our way to the staff who had yet to acknowledge our being there. As we approached they continued their conversation and actually finished it before answering us. We said we had a reservation which was met with some confusion as they tutted and flapped around before pointing at a table. We assumed this was ours, sat ourselves down and were ignored until the rest of the party arrived.
In short the service that followed was dire. Not a smile, not an "Everything ok?" - NOTHING. We were totally ignored and had quite a time of it trying to flag staff down to order drinks etc. They looked utterly inconvenienced by the whole thing. The food recieved mixed reviews - my seabass fillet was amazing but my friends venison was awful. We had to send the steak back as they had not cooked it as we'd asked. (In fairness to them, they did deduct the cost of the venison from the bill.) When ordering desserts we were told we couldn't wait for a bit between courses as some deserts took 20 mins to prepare so were made to order straight away. Then the deserts were bought out at all different times, one girl having to wait a good 20 miuntes after everyone else had theirs.
Having sat drinkless and completely unattended for a good half hour we flagged someone down for the bill- it came to a reasonable 260 with the venison deducted. But there was a 27 service charge which was apparently not optional. We are always generous tippers, but a non optional 30 for a service we didn't receive seems a bit much. They literally placed our food and drink in front of us, which is a waiter's job specification I would imagine. They did nothing else. So we politely (I stress politely because we were!) queried this with the man who came to take the payment, who in reply was rude, insulting and aggressive. He wouldn't accept we'd received poor service. He shouted over us when we tried to explain why we felt this. When we mentioned the steak as an example he said we obviously weren't used to eating steak the way its meant to be cooked. How rude! I whispered to my sister "Have we asked to see the manager?" having assumed the man shouting at us and making us pay the service charge must have been a waiter, he shouted "Yeah! Yeah"" I asked if he was the manager and he shouted "Yes!" in my face. Within our party we had 2 retired hotel owners and a food critic who were truly mortified by his attitude, aggression, arrogance and rudeness.
We paid the charge having been given no option and left feeling utterly frustrated and insulted. I am baffled as to why they ignored us when we were willing to spend plenty of money in their establishment. I am further baffled as to why the manager would deal with genuine queries, politely worded by quiet, non aggressive cutomers (with an in depth understanding of the business) with such aggression. And we were all disappointed that a birthday celebration turned out as this. Needless to say, we will not be returning and I would strongly advise others to avoid it.

Interesting place and decor. Nice crowd. Will return. Nightclub upstairs apparently.

My mate is having his "coming out" party in here on Saturday

Hugely reliant on its 'Time Out' entry. Very, very expensive.

Very helpful and attentive service and a good selection of well-prepared food. I was part of a large group and the staff coped admirably with the task of keeping us all happy. They also let us stay in situ after the meal so we could enjoy the rest of the evening and get drinks from the bar without having to brave the winter night. So many other places would have pushed us on for a second sitting so I was very impressed and would highly recommend this pub. The bar did look very packed though so if you do go, I'd eat and get a table.

Had dinner here last night. The service was unbelievably slow and the staff inattentive. Would not have food here again because of this and the price. On a positive note the decor is lovely.

This is just the sort of place that I want to go and eat and have a good catch up with an old friend. It is so pretty inside....fairy lights on the ceiling and dark wood everywhere so very atmospheric. The food was delicious. I tried something that I have never had before Kudu Hounchi (not sure if it is spelt correctly but it was the meat from a Kenyan Deer and was so beautifully cooked) and for pudding I had amazing chocolate fondant. As it was a Tuesday, the restaurant was quite empty but it did not matter, the staff were helpful, polite and attentive. A real gem in Croydon which I thoroughly reccomend, especially if you are looking for a possible venue to go for a more informal date?!

We popped in for a couple of cocktails on the way home after an evening in Croydon.
There was a bar full of people waiting to be served and only one member of staff serving whilst the other bar staff were playing the card machine. For 5.95 a cocktail I have to say I was not that impressed, they could have been made a bit better (but that was probably because the lady that served us seemed in a hurry).
Minor complaints aside, there was a friendly atmosphere and it being a nice evening we got to sit in the very pleasent beer garden.

What a gem this place is set in the heart of south croydon. The food is perfect the atmosphere gentile and the staff very friendly a well thought out and relaxing place to dine. I shall be returning for my 5th visit to try something else off of the menu. 9/10

Mrs Codrotten and I have wined and dined here on a couple of occasions in the recent past, and found the food on the right side of nouveau cuisine (i.e not only properly cooked but of a filling enough amount, and not too psychedelically inspired). Wine was good, (so Mrs C advised me). Bit pricey, but you get what you pay for - efficiently polite service, clean glassware, good standard of hygiene, good quality alcohol. Cut above the rest of the pubs in Croydon, but I must admit it never really strikes me as a pub, more a restaurant with a pub-like bar. And no multi-screen sports and crappy pop music. Ya-ya!!

The building itself is tastefully decorated both in the public bar and in the club upstairs. I went down with friends a couple of weeks ago and we paid the 4 pounds to go into the club and then 14 for a round of three drinks (two beers and a glass of wine), we were the only people in there and it was 10pm. Then were rung by some other friends that were sat in the garden. My friend checked to see if we could leave and come back without paying again (and they most generously agreed). But when we went down the bouncer was most agressive saying "I've already told her your can't take your drinks into the garden." I'm sorry but is it not the same building? He then kindly offered for us to leave our drinks there to go nice and flat for our return. I said I'd drink it there because I wasn't going to come back and he then decided to insult me, by saying "bloodclatt", obviously making the assumption that because I wasn't black I wouldn't understand. Overall, nice venue if a little overpriced but needs to sort out the ignorant doorstaff.

Absolutely wonderful restaurant bar, very friendly and attentive staff and superb food. I cannot recommend this venue enough. I've been upstairs a few times and found it to be pretty chilled. I was there a few times in the late 80's/ early 90's and it couldn't be more different if it tried - thankfully! The furniture is pretty cool too and I've had a few good afternoons relaxing with a cold beer or decent glass of wine in the beer garden...

I must say I love the Treehouse. It's a great place to drink downstairs, the food is fantastic (the restaurant has won a number of awards), and upstairs is in my opinion one of the best clubs in South London. The music is varied for everyone's taste, from Acid Jazz to old classics. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff are great. It's true that there are a few pretentious people there, but it certainly makes a change from the regular Croydon twunts.

I like it....it's nice for a quiet drink...or to catch up. Very expensive, but the beer garden is prertty decent.
Yet to try the food but it comes highly recommended

I have hired out the club 'upstairs' situated on top of the Treehouse restaurant for the last two years for my birthday. The evening has been fantastic, with a mixture of music for everyone, excellent bar staff and a fabulous atmosphere. There was a few poncy people there, but we just let them get on with being poncy, and enjoyed ourselves immensely. With regards to the actual restaurant, I have heard that its a little pricey (for Croydon) but that the food was well worth it.

Didn't this used to be the notorious Blue Anchor, the spiritual home of the standard delusional, vacant headed, cretinous croydon gangster fantasist? Whatever it's like now, it can't be nearly as bad as the Blue Anchor. No doubt the 80s and 90s clientele have now reached chokey where they belong.

This is really more of a restaurant with a bar than a pub that does food. The food though is excellent, the atmosphere usually very buzzy. The bar upstairs is ok, but does get full of some pretentious types who think that being on shows like "The Salon" makes them VIP's.
