please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Recently paid my first visit to this pub in several years - purely because there was a band playing. It's a tiny old fashioned pub that's off the beaten track, and to be honest I'm surprised it has managed to remain open. It's a McMullens pub so I walked in with low expectations of the quality of ale on draught. However, on visits to another local McMullens pub the Queens Arms I have found their bottled 'Strongheart' and 'Hertford Castle' ales very acceptable and great value for money. So as it was a McMullens pub I asked if they had either of those bottled ales from this brewery - only to be met with a blank look and told they don't stock them! One pint of the mediocre at best McMullens cask ale on offer was enough and I headed off elsewhere in search of a decent pint.

I've been in this pub a handful of times over the past 10 years but my last visit I found very disturbing....I was in with my wife and kids and the dirty man behind the bar I saw using a urinal, not washing his hands and then straight back behind bar serving customers!!!-and I've been told since chatting to friends that it has gone massively downhill since they took it over-one to AVOID!!

Have popped in a couple of times recently. The decor has had a revamp which makes it a clean and comfortable pub, nice beers and very friendly staff. The locals are also very sociable, will visit this pub more often in future.

McMullens house situated in a residential area to the west of the town centre. Beware of the pub's website and also other websites such as WhatPub that show this pub opening early. The latter showed it opening as 8:30. But opening times on the door show that 11:30 is correct. The pub has a couple of rooms and appears to have diversified into dining, whilst still maintaining a community function. 3 McMullens ales were on - AK, Country Bitter & Hops & Glory. I went for the AK which wasn't the best I've ever tried. Staff were friendly enough. Only 2 other customers were in, shortly after opening.

The lounge half is now described as a 'Bistro' but the public bar is still very much a locla brewer's old school public bar. The McMullen's 'Screaming Reels' went down well enough.

I believe this pub went through a bit of a transformation in the last couple of years, with a new owner. It has certainly lost much of its atmosphere with the public bar exuding a depressing run down feeling. McMullens is not one of my favorite beers although, to give the pub credit, they did have 4 to choose from. Not a bad pub but I wouldn't make an effort to search it out.

They have now got a very talented trio of musicians playing every other Sunday, in a loosely jazz style but with lots of modern twists, as well as some very good food. If you don't like McMullens there are plenty of other choices, and it's a real pleasure to round off the weekend with quality music, a decent meal and a well-kept pint.

Cracking local with a great atmosphere and reliable McMullen Ales. It's the antithesis of the modern pub with great background music unobtrusively facilitating conversation and the TVs mercifully turned off. The recent addition of table football is inspired. The score may have been higher had food been available, but I gather this is coming soon.

Another old fashioned bar and lounge style locals pub. A friendly enough place though it is a McMullens house and despite a wide variety of pump clipc only the three usual McMullens ales were on offer. Had about as reasonable pint of Country as I'll get though. WIll have to drop in when they have some alternative ales on.

As a local I love popping into the Sebright. There is always some-one I know in there and if not then the landlord and lady suffice! I am sad that due to the excessive costs to run a pub these days they are not able to reap the rewards of all the hours they put in. It is supported by the locals but times are hard and people can't afford to sit in pubs as long as they used to. More's the pity!

Although I'm Barnet born & bred I'd never actually set foot in this pub until last night. I knew of it's existance but never had reason to go until a mate was playing in a band there - I didn't even know they had live music. It's quite a nice little unspoilt (how often can you say that these days?) backstreet boozer. Maybe a little 'local pub for local people' as these little known tucked away pubs tend to be. I wasn't too keen when I realised it was a McMullens pub as I've yet to have a pint from that brewer that I liked, but that had some stuff called Rocket (guest beer?) that I thought was rather spendid so I had several pints of that. Unfortunately it shut a bit early (by current standards) at 11.00 so we headed off to the Monk for some more quality beverages.

I had a very quick pint in here with the other half last Saturday. The lounge bar was closed for a party and the other bar was packed with about 10 people. We sloshed back our drinks before the squealing pigs and banjos appeared!

This may be a little harsh as the barman did wipe down one of the 2 tables in the bar for us to sit at, but I still felt obliged to order a Stella as he didnt look very impressed when I asked for a pint of lime and soda for the misses.

I agree with last review this place should be very busy. We visited earlier this year on an aborted FA Cup trip(CUFC). Our small group were the only people in the pub on a Saturday lunch time. We thought the pub was fine but obviously the locals are not supporting it. All the ales available were McMullen's.

This place is a goldmine waiting to happen - its got the best catchment area I have ever seen for a pub, with a great, young affluent crowd living close by. I'd go more often if the place was spruced up a bit and the atmosphere was a little more upbeat. In the meantime I'll walk down to The Monk. The Sebrite interior could do with a wash.

I have been here a few times. The staff have been friendly. The management has changed. It is a good local pub. Guinness, Fosters and the McMullens have all been sampled and are ok.. (Dont order from the lounge as the lines are a bit ropey.)

Not many people in even on a Friday night but a fantastic pint of McMullen's.

A traditional backstreet local boozer, with a friendly atmosphere especially in the public bar. Features a dart board. McMullen's AK and Country in fine condition.

Well worth a visit.
