please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
As the snarling lady frequently says/types - 'still closed' after over a decade. Now a shop (don't know the name!).
|
I'll post what I feel I should post - if you don't like it then tough shit.
|
Stop your childish name calling, and post only about pubs that actually exist!
|
Seems like someone has made multiple identities to prove their continuing pointless point. It's pretty simple really - you put comments on here and you can either read them or you can ignore them. The world is quite a variable place with people who have differing outlooks and opinions. If you don't like those opinions then you can make your point as to why you disagree with them - - one thing you can't do is deny people an opinion that is different to yours - that is where fascism starts. I will not STOP putting comments on here because someone with a NAZI outlook on life tells me not to.

The site has its strengths. One, is - to say the pub is great, bad or non-existent. If it's already posted as gone and dead - why tell us that a mortuary, kebab place, McDonald's or block of flats has replaced it?
|
I am really rather bored now with this petty, juvenile sniping.
Randolph - give it a rest. And as I think you steered me some while ago just post something about pubs rather than having a pop at reviewers who do actually provide frequent useful content.
BITE is poor enough without this.
I'll not post anything else on here until one or two of you grow up. That, in itself, should please most people.
Less handbag waving, more pubs now please ladies.

Either this is a pub site, or it isn't. Subsequent usage of old pub sites isn't relevant. The practice is as bad your habit of reviewing pubs - on another pub' page!
|
A few people do have an historical interest in to what has become of their once favourite drinking haunts even if you don't.
People's views and opinions are not subject to your personal control. If you want a site that conforms to your outlook then why not set up one of your own.

This public house ceased trading about a dozen years ago - recorded on here. What has replaced it is neither of interest or relevant, to a pub site.
|
There is now a catholic church built on the site

Further to my comment of nearly 5 years ago, I'm delighted to confirm that the poster below is correct. Sadly, I think the place was empty when they flattened it.

Close & rebuilt in houses / flats

Yep, can confirm the Albion has gone. All boarded up and looking like it's ready for the wrecking ball. Personally this is a shame as I have a soft spot for The Albion. I used to drink here for a couple of seasons in the late 80's when a friend of mine was barmaiding here. And my remeberances are more in line with stwutter's comments below, in that if I fancied a walk on the wierd side, I used to pop down to the Albion.
|
Went go go in here yesterday but notice on Door says closed until further notice.
|
LOL, I used to live here as well and drink here occasionally and can only agree whole heartedly with stwutter, the other reviews must have been made by the pubs own management or a being from a parrallel universe.

?? WHAT ?? I lived in a flat near the Albion for 2 years. It has to be one of the weirdest pubs I've ever walked into (and walked out of within 10 minutes). It's bizarre - the whole bar area is like an extremely badly decorated plasterboard semi from and Episode of Terry & June, the beers are naff and the clientelle are a freak-show. Everyone was the odd one you find in every other boozer - you know, the one you give a wide berth to on the way to the loo, just in-case you catch something a little nasty, and can't wee for a week. You wondered who ever bought their Jeans from Woolworths? Now you know.
The post below mentions that it's a good haunt for Spurs fans. Good. They seem to finally have got the pub they've always deserved...

A very nice friendly pub, it has a very friendly atmosphere and every one in the pub seems to know everyone else. The pub has been redecorated but with Oak, English Oak on the floor and the Bar counter has been done in French Oak this only adds to the charm of the pub and the Landlord and Lady are nice friendly people as are most of the Regulars.

Real trad boozer. Good atmosphere when footie's on and superb IPA.

the most pointless re-furb job that i've ever seen, they moved the outside toilets indoors, then clearly, whilst they were at it did more and arbitrarily slapped a load of pine around the place, this won't attract a single new customer and leave them with a re-furb bill . how the pub was was it's selling - point . there are bountifull pubs in chipping barnet, there needs to be some thing particular that your pub has to offer, this one was that it was a truelly genuine old-school pub that had been unaffected by the urbanisation of what is now the greater london fringe at the start of the last century . it's not afigure of speech, this is the most pointless re-furb that i have ever seen, either actually change a pub or don't . this is still a pub worth your visit because it is some thing special, but a few months back, it would have been well, well, well worth your visit.

A superb traditional local with three well kept beers on offer plus a real cider. The BURTON ALE was exquisite.
NOTE: Minor redecoration in progress at present but the pub REMAINS OPEN. The pub will remain virtually unspoilt with the only major alteration being the installation of inside loos.
Features a darts board in an area of the pub just big enough to accommodate Andy Fordham!!
A friendly guy called Dave showed us some other pubs worth a visit, too.
This is a gem, and well worth looking out for!
