We headed here for breakfast around 09.30 on a Saturday morning only to be met by several lads supping what looked like their second or even third pints!!!! One old geezer was on his third bottle of Stella Cidre - at that time of the day!!! Anyway we had breakfast which is the standard Spoons offering but great value for money but how sad to see people supping beer and stuff at that time of the morning - I wonder what they would be like in a couple of hours time!

Never had a problem in this pub. Usually good service and choice of beers. Always meet my freind here as its easy for us living different ends of town. Can have a mixed bag of customers though.

Popped in for breakfast to find loads of blokes drinking pints at 10 in the morning - must say something about the place!! Mind you - the breakfast was good value and the service prompt although I wouldn't reckon on it being so quick at very busy times when I would imagine the place is heaving and you wouldn't notice the worn carpet and torn seats!!

Rather dingy downstairs, which tends to reflect the customers. However the upstairs is brighter with a better class of people and has already been said a good view of the square

One of the worst Wetherspoons pubs around. Ok for cheap beer but the chances of getting served are nil. Large dosser element in evidence.

The 'Joseph Else' is a decent Wetherspoons (that's right I know how to spell it unlike those complaining). Food is as expected and the decor itself isn't anything special. The beer range and quality has improved somewhat under the current manager though. If it looks too busy, just turn around but when it's quieter well worth a short stop.

I've upgraded my opinion of this pub based on the following: there are plenty of better pubs in Nottingham City Centre but its saving grace is the upstairs bar with a good view over the square.

Beer is good value and I've never had a bad pint. Like most JDWs it lacks atmosphere.

Do not go downstairs, execpt for using the entrance to get upstairs, downstairs is grotty, dire, awful. I previously rated this as zero but now I'll give it foive, based on the upstairs bar.

Bog standard wethers outlet in Nottingham market square. Beer is normally well kept and selection is good. The downstairs bar area is very dark and a little run down in all honesty, but if you manage to get a seat upstairs, the views over the square are fantastic. I've never had a bad meal here. Always served hot and quick service. All in all, my favourite wetherspoons in central Nottingham.

This is a sticky floor Wetherspoons always with a pretty "ratted" crowd when I've visited. If you go upstairs with your drink you'll find another small seating area which is much quieter and relaxed. Beer quality is a bit variable but I've never had a really awful one in here. Nowhere near as good as the Wetherspoons just round the corner.

I notice that this is the first review for a year. This is a cheap night out pub which attracts skid-row clients. Not one I'd recommend even by JDWs standards and they have other pubs nearby.

First round of drinks 4 double jack Daniels and coke less than twelve quid superb.
Second round of dinks same but no ice left and the coke was off?
If you require ice in your drink you need to get in early they never have any ice?
Maybe they are supplying the ice for the ice rink in the market square so that could be the problem

Worth it if you want a cheap night out in the centre of town

One of the better 'Spoons' pubs I have visited. Breakfast are great.

Good decent ale @ this mediocre JDW number. 7/10

There are plenty of better pubs in Nottingham City Centre, but there are also plenty of pubs that are far, far worse (i.e Yates). Beer is good value and I've never had a bad pint. Serves coffee whenever they're open, which is nice. However, the service has always been excruciatingly slow. Lacks atmosphere.

Bigz5443 - 24 Nov 2005 15:23
smart doubles nice and cheap

Grim. There's another Weatherspoons round the corner on St James Street which is better than this hole.
palmwinedrinkard - 27 May 2004 17:43
we like wetherspoons because its cheap - double vodka+redbull for 2.49, utter bargain! but they need to get some male totty in there, turn off the lights and crank up the music because otherwise its rather shite to stay in all night, we just leg it and be done with it!
rodderz+the chaps - 12 Feb 2004 11:53
k this is either ace or wack when you go; best time is when make a sudden decision to go for a quiet one after shopping and then bump into 2 friends by chance and take obscene advantage of dopy barmen and ale tasters. you also meet drop outs who want to tell you they run a removals business
Charlie - 28 Jan 2004 10:21
Its cheap!

Works for me!!!
Sunny - 26 May 2003 13:09
Takes the best Wetherspoons tradition of cheap booze for idiot pissheads and multiplies by 10. Steer clear unless you are on the last 5 of your student loan.
