Overlooking the harbour is this St Austell Brewery pub with benches to the front to watch the world go by.
An imposing looking stone building, inside there's a flagstone floor and wooden beams. The long wooden bar has the usual lager and Guinness on offer plus 3 ales from St Austell Brewery, I opted for a pint of Trelawney which was drinkable.
Half full on our visit with most punters taking their drinks and sitting out the front, kids and dogs welcome.
A nice enough pub but we spent most of our time outside so my report on the interior is pretty non existent.
7/10 from me

Spent last week living opposite this pub, had a very good selection of ales and the excellent Korvin cornish lager so popped in several times. Didn't try the food on offer myself, but always looked ok. was always busy but they also have succumbed to the terrible new phenomenon of reserving tables for people who cannot be bothered to just go to a pub, wait for a table to become available and sit down, the way we have been doing it for centuries. We where even turfed off of the table we were sitting at mid pint, as it had been reserved - very poor show.

Good selection of well kept ales. It was very busy out front but there was plenty of room in the beer garden at the back. Food OK, staff friendly. Recommended

Had a great night at the shipwrights in Padstow came in at about 6:00pm and had burgers from the "gourmet" burger menu, these were superb and we ended up staying for the whole evening as the local larger (Korev) the staff and the view were all amazing I will definitely be recommending this place to asany people as I can.

It's hard to comment on Padstow pubs without getting into the tourist debate... You can't park your car in summer because of 50 grand range rovers everywhere... The Ship is a good old pub with the usual St.Austell array of beers. Food is good plain fayre, and if you can get a table on the front you wont find a nicer setting. Seriously though, Padstow is a place better visited out of season now... It's not just a tourist thing; other places like Mevagissey, Porthleven etc.. are not like this. There ought to be a pub called The Stockbrokers arms....

This is the place to go if you are visiting Padtsow on a hot day as it's the only pub with outside seating overlooking the harbour. For that reason, it get's pretty busy if it's not raining. Beer (the regionally ubiquitous St Austell) is fine and teh staff friendly. We sat inside as all the outside tables were taken and that was pleasant enough as well.

Been here many times, very busy but good food. Had some lovely pear cider too! Dog friendly.

We've been to this pub once before, and felt it worth a second visit. Fantastic looking pub, with a sympthetically decorated interior - except the flat screen TVs, but then you can't have everything.
Very good choice of beers and ciders - the usual St Austell suspects and Rattlers. Friendly staff who don't hassle you. Have yet to try the food, but it looked pretty good. Difficult to get a seat ouside on a sunny day, so had to settle for inside. Not sure why this pub hasn't got into the Good Beer Guide yet.

My wife and I visit Padstow regularly and this is our favourite pub. It is not a 'purists' pub, I know (try the Golden Lion or the London) but if you like good beer, nice staff (landlord is a good guy) and perfectly decent (but not posh) food then it's great. If you can get a space outside (on the town side of the pub, overlooking the harbour) in summer it's delightful.

Visited this pub on a grey day in Padstow, Most people were inside because of the weather, so it felt busy. Pub and interior look very old, so it's kind of dissappointing to see flat screen t.v's adorning the walls for the sport. Sign of the times I suppose. I had a nice pint of H.S.D. though, as I looked out the window at the rain. What's happened to Summer!

Beer was ok but pub was very quiet and soulless when we were there. Probably quite a busy place in the summer

Great pub to go to after a day out fishing on the "Cornish Bird" with John Peplar. It gets seriously busy though and the staff don't seem to cope with the clearing up (chips and peas trod into the floor) not their fault like I said seriously busy even for Padstein. Take your glasses back to the bar you tourist types that stay for one and move on and give us locals from Surey a break!

had a great meal, cod and chipd fabulous. however management seriously lacking as next night we were told that there was food being served then refused 5 minutes later. got told we were not welcome after complaining!! so good pub if the staff and management can agree whether their serving food or not.

This place seemed to be the youngsters' hangout in the town, literally. One group didn't seem capable of shaving yet, but were kind enough to lend me a lighter for my fag. Pool table, juke box, Cornish ales and lagers. Be sure to try the lethal Rattlers cider at around 7.5%, strong enough to strip paint.
Disconcertingly had two bouncers outside on New Year's Day when there appeared to be no need for them, although they did prove useful when I spotted a 13 year old kid begging to be let in.
