Farmers Arms, St Merrynback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
It's had a bit of a makeover since we were last there. Seems to have been cleaned up and is a lot brighter and more welcoming inside. Now the other pub in the village is Mr Stein's, it looks as though this is where all the locals go. Also gets a lot of trade from the nearby caravan sites, I think. We didn't notice any bad language, but the bar area was full of what seemed to be locals.
3 St Austell real ales on, plus St A's cyders and the usual lagers & keg beers. Had 2 St A beers and both were good. A lot cheaper than The Cornish Arms down the road, too.
The carvery was doing a roaring trade, every table in use. Didn't sample the food, but it seems popular. Menu seemed average pub-grub type of stuff.

First things first, the beers from St Austell brewery were well kept and served, so credit where credit's due. However I have to concur with the previous reviewer in that I found the atmosphere somewhat intimidating, particularly on a Saturday night when the local 'yoof' culture was on show. Rowdy behaviour and loud swearing at the bar do not make good companions to a pint.

THIS PUB HAS THE BEST CARVERY IN BRITAIN LET ALONE CORNWALL. EXCELLENT SUNDAY CARVERY. WOULD BE NICE IF THEY DID IT SUNDAY EVENING AS WELL. WONDERFUL FOOD AND A GREAT ATMOSPHERE

Distinctly average pub. The food is not bad, but is distinctly standard pub food with nothing special to rant and rave about. Runs out of Sunday roast quickly and the rest of the menu is limited. Is a family friendly pub, if that is your thing, and there is plenty of room inside. The location is nothing special. Equally, there is not much of an outside area to speak of - unless you enjoy looking at cars (i.e. the car park). Range of beers and lagers is good, if a little uninspired.

Nice local with some good live music on. Food could do with a bit more taste but we don't go to a pub to eat do we!! Good selection of beer and lager.

A quaint olde worlde pub a short drive from Padstow harbour town, all dark and low ceilings with a pool table and dining area, which I didn't have time to sample. Cornish ales as standard and relatively friendly, although it was hard to tell as it was fairly empty apart from a handful of regulars propping up the bar and chatting amiably to the landlady whilst eyeing me suspiciously. Mind you, I'm paranoid in those situations and can't shake off the London accent no matter how hard I tried to say 'arr'.
Typical locals pub. Pictures of departed regulars on walls above their favourite corners, and lots of trophies from sporting events, providing the events are darts.
