Now renamed as the Victoria gate.
Cheap pub most drinks under £3.00 just a little rough for my liking not really my kind of place.

Usued to be managed by a guy called fat eddie, he later moved across town to the cricketers which he renamed the "ale house". That pub is also now closed. Anyone see a pattern emerging here?

Appeared to be closed when I went past earlier.

everyone is welcoming, including the local cider drinkers!!!

Can't agree with the 5.7 rating (as at time of posting). Always a good atmosphere and friendly bar staff mixed in with good music/bands and, as mentioned previously, some friendly locals.

I had a fantastic Saturday night here. The band (resident - literally!) were really enjoying themselves, playing 'til 11.30, Their happy demeanour permeated through the whole pub atmosphere.

This pub was recently taken over and renovated by a new managment. The pub now has a lovely family atmosphere and its own, in house, jazz and blues band. A varied menu with home-made food and a pool table thats never empty as well as some of the most friendly locals I've ever met. A great pub
