Visited this pub last Sunday. The place not that busy but was clearly understaffed for the customers they did have. Food appeared to be a problem as the bar staff were reluctant to provide my wife with a menu. Later one of our party asked at the bar for menu and was refused. He asked if he found a menu, would the pub take his order. He was told "not for 20 minutes". The menu gave all the usual crap about "hand cut chips" and all that jazz. My chips were no better than MacDonalds. At least at Macs they are hot and crisp not like warm and soggy. My advise is to give this place a miss and go elsewhere. There are plenty of other pubs in Denham. The management and staff at the Green Man want to learn some manners

Visited the Green Man after a visit to the lacklustre Falcon Inn over the road. The Green Man is the complete opposite - a great atmosphere, friendly staff with a bit of banter, great selection of ales, nice interior with what looks like a nice outdoor area (which we didn't use as it was persisting down with rain!) and great sensibly priced food. The fish and chips IS the biggest piece of fish that we have ever seen! The burger was really tasty and the food came very quickly despite it being busy. My only gripe would be that a pint of coke costs the same as a pint of beer (3.30!). We shall definitely be revisiting The Green Man next time we are in the area and would recommend it.

My "first and last" pub during my 3 months "tour" in the UK. Tasty food only found in (much) expensive restaurants, served by inforgettable staff, fabulos decoration,.... Just take a look at the monks eating pasta picture, and tell me if you dont get hungry. And dont forget to ask for the peas and ham soup, or the melted camenbert with rosemary, or the very good cheese cake...

Very friendly staff, good atmosphere and, surprising for a Green King pub, 2 guest ales that are not GK group beers. The food was good, sensibly priced and served quickly despite the pub being very busy.

Freindly pub with large terraces, food is excellent best Scampi, BBQ Ribs and Lasagne we have ever had, not from round Denham anymore so came back as a visitor and would definately come back again.

Caravan at Denham as we are doing a crawl in London from here tomorrow so walked down to the village to explore the pubs. This was number 1 and they had 3 beers on tap and 1 guest from the cask standing at the back of the bar. London Pride was finished, Green King IPA, and Moreland (GK) Original were the other 2 on the bar, and Fullers Seafarers was the guest. We paid 3.10 for 2 halves. Pub was empty and no food being served till the evening pie and a pint night. No problems with the beer.

Went on Saturday night, so glad we'd booked. Staff really friendly and helpful. Service was very good for a crowded pub. Food was lovely, the biggest piece of cod and well cooked steaks. Will definitely go back.

Visited the pub again today, with new baby in tow (well behaved) and had no problems. Bar staff friendly and helpful, food is still the best in the village (try the fish and chips - the portion size and quality I have never seen anywhere else!). I notice that the garden has recently been done and looks fantastic... definitely a Summer crowd pleaser. Although 'Speckled hen' no longer on tap the landlord is now doing guest ales (try the 'Alespril Fool').

Under new ownership since just before Christmas 2008, what an improvement ! , refurbed loo's, refurbed bar and the garden is now top class. Went there for the new years eve party, great food and great singer/guitarist. The best new years eve I have had in years. The pub now also has a turn around of excellent cask beers, the beer that is mainstream has also improved. Highly recommended.

For families with young children - to be avoided !! Although the sign outside suggests it has a childrens playground at the rear, the staff would rather not let families go in. A very hostile barmaid told us that babies were not allowed and when I questioned why, she had no real reason and said it was 'policy'. Isn't that unbelievable? i have been to many central london pubs and restaurants with my baby with no problem. I found Denham overall quite an unfriendly place for a Tuesday lunchtime before Christmas.

What a transformation the new owners have made. The place now looks lovely, with what looks like quite a bit of money being spent sorting out the toilets and bar area.
Had lunch there last Sunday and found the service very good and the food excellent (try the steak and ale pie, which is to die for. You couldn't make it for the money they charge). The owners seem to be turning around what was an ailing pub (no pun intended) back to the more traditional establishment it once was. With better ales (Speckled Hen on tap, Pride and IPA) and great food/service, definitely one for a return visit. The owners tell me they are looking at other guest ales. They still do the quiz and pint & a pie night.
Keep up the good work.

I was a regular here for many years.I enjoyed the beer and food especially on quiz nights when there was plenty of inter team banter. Sadly I moved away but was pleasantly surprised when returning recently to find the same landlords still lots of familiar faces and although there have been a few changes they were all to the good. Still the best pub and home cooked steak pie for miles around.

I have had several meals here over the years and used to think it was good. The last couple of visits I have been disappointed with sub standard meals and the staff appeared bored.Never again unless someone treats me.Beers are not bad though.

Great Pub one of the few traditional country pubs left. Great food, good friendly service, exceptional beer garden an all round great place to visit.

What a real disappointment this pub turned out to be despite it's lovely location. The food was very poor. The fillet steak, which I paid almost 14 for, turned out to be a rather sorry looking portion with soggy chips. When the nozzle fell of the vineger I attempted to use, and flooded my food I was told by a rather aggressive landlady, that it was the previous customers fault.
All in all a really unsavoury experience. I will not be using this pub again and would encourage anyone else visiting Denham to use one of the other lovely pubs in the village.

We used this pub recently and despite the glorious village location and splendid decor of the pub were severely disappointed. The food was very under par and over priced. The portions were small and badly cooked. When challenged we were told to go to the restaurant next door if we wanted better food. The management were surly and aggressive. Pub food should be good and hearty and value for money at 14 the fillet steak was a childs portion accompanied by one slice of cucumberone tomatoe and very poor chips. I am busy spreading the word to all my chums to boycott a few already are aware of its reputation

I have to admit that i had some delicious ales here once or twice, and the setting is superb. Denham Village is a lovely little place - one feels as if you have just travelled back in time!
However, I must complain about the staff's attitude. The staff have a strange look about them and I have seen the older members of staff gossip about what appear to be regulars. It's hardly an iviting atmosphere and ruins a perfectly fine pub.
When me and the wife go to pubs we want to feel welcome - not on edge. Sadly the Green Man is as welcoming as a Turkish prison - talking of which i was surprised to hear so many foreign accents seemingly emenating from the kitchens!
All in all i would strongly urge those people with any degree of sophistication to stay away. The beer may be ok but the people make you feel uncomfortable. Its a shame really....I would, however, strongly recommend just about any other pub in the village. Also the food reminded me of school dinners - and the memorably bad ones at that.

Very good pub. Good variety of beer and well kept. The food's a bit plain but I don't eat much when I'm drinking.
