Definitely a gastropub and it's into the recent Michelin Eating Out In Pubs Guide, which is probably merited. It's had a big refurbishment and is quite attractive inside. The beers include "Cheeky Bustard" from Oldershaw's (3.8% probably a rebadge of something else) and the odd guest (e.g. Navigation Lynx). At these prices, one expects the food to be exceptional and some of it is indeed high quality, but some is rather poorly cooked. They have a 2-tier menu of expensive (£16-£24) and "classics" around £10-15 - the desserts and starters were probably the best things there. The staff were friendly and helpful, although the woman who took our order on one evening needs to learn an alternative answer to "No Problem" with a rising intonation when an order is placed. This pub is trying quite hard but needs to look at quality and pricing to really rate a high mark

I live in London and occasionally travel to Lincolnshire to see my parents. we had heard that the Bustard had been renovated and were interested to see what it was like. Very nice indeed, the food and beers were good but the prices were incredible for a rural village. 24.50 for a fillet steak! I wouldn't have to pay that in 90% of West End restaurants, and I'm sure their overheads are larger.
We asked if the burger came with fries we were told they were 2.75 extra. When they arrived there were about 12 of them in a small bowl. Fish and chips was on the menu also, so couldn't a handful be added to the plate gratis? All the dishes seemed overpriced, even a simple salad. Maybe they are trying to scare off previous regulars?

This is probably the best pub refurb I've ever seen. The materials used are high quality, yet the authentic village pub feel remains. It's more of a gastro-pub now, with excellent food: bar meals (6-8) and full lunch/dinner menu (14-21). Beers from Lincolnshire, and a decent range of lagers/wines. It's a very fine pub indeed, in a village half way between the A17 and A153 just west of Sleaford (and I gather the jazz night still exists!).

April 2007 New Landlord and Lady, They have totally refurbished the building and added a First Class Restaurant with food to die for from an excellent chef and his team. Good beer served by a very friendly staff. A must for just a quiet pint or any celebration meal so if in the area give them a try.

Tuesday at the Bustard is jazz party night and it's probably the best night out for a hundred miles around. Pub mission statememnt is 'Striving for affordable excellence' - mission accomplished.
