Don’t know what’s happened here. Was a great pub well run. Then change or manager no music and bang. Dead Pub. WTF. why change what’s not broken. it is now and most of the crowd are with old manager at Kings Head

Major refurb happening. Reopens Friday 29th Jan. Cant wait. Best beer in Barnet.. Last comments bit weird. Said it was dim. Then it was decorated for Halloween.... Hello. Isn't that the point....

This was the first stop of a swift 10 pub crawl of Barnet and Cockfosters yesterday daytime. It was the first pub we could find open in High Barnet at 11am. This used to be a Wetherspoons. But it now appears to be Irish-owned. Located on the High Street, the interior is long and narrow, with the bar situated around half way along. Lighting is dim, apart from a couple of skylights. Ales were mainly from St Austell - Tribute, Trelawney & Proper Job. But Adnams Broadside was also on. No real cider was available. As with many of the local pubs, it was decked out for Halloween. A reasonable start.

Wow been away for a while but back local. Popped in to see what was up and well, its awesome. Feels like a new pub. Clean and fresh. Great real ales, which is no surprise as they are now in Camras good beer guide. Saw band and was pleased new band sat 11oct and charity nite. Won't miss it

Things are starting to look up a bit after this former Wetherspoons pub being in the doldrums for a while. There are usually four real ales on tap - frequently changing. Quite decent quality ale at reasonable prices. There is a jam night for musos on Sundays at the back, leaving the front part of the place quiet for those who want to chat while enjoying a drink. Apparently live bands could be a regular thing on Saturday nights soon.

New management making the best of this lately. Good range of beers and good quality. Could do with a few more ale drinkers to keep this going and the music could be turned down or restricted to the back of the pub for those that might appreciate it more. Will be going back.

Well been using this pub since july when new managers took over and must say one of the better pubs in barnet. Now has a good selection of real ales on and of a high quality. much cleaner and beer all round better. Was in over christmas when EBOG and the Seabright did there crawl and the service was still supurb. Karaoke on a Saturday is good and football is shown on 7 screens. try for youself....

Popped in other day, lots of changes happening, new managers who are cleaning top to bottom, told food and real ales will be back on in September, looking for dart platers to join local league and karaoke on saturday nights..hope it all goes well...

This was the first time i had been in here for a few years, i think it was a JDW pub the last time i visted. Was very quiet today but enjoyed the beer and the service was friendly enough.

I was pretty impressed with The Misty Moon when I visited last Saturday afternoon.
I found the staff to be very friendly and the beer cheap. I had a bite to eat and it was of the standard that you would expect in a pub and it didnt break the bank.
I was very surprised that it wasnt busier because it is excellent for watching football, well worth a visit.

This pub has gone through various name changes. A few years ago the hand pulled bitter beers always tasted like "vinegar", a friend of mine said, but now that taste has gone, and the pub has certainly got better in the last few months. Unfortunately, the toilets are still badly kept, and if your feet are over size 5 you will find the walk down the steep stairs to get to the bogs very tricky.
|
I suspect it was better off as a Wetherspoons, at least the beer would have been OK. Now one whole row of pumps out of use and just GK IPA and Speckled Hen on the other, both in dubious condition. Otherwise all a bit scruffy, and very quiet. And bogs dreadful, no lock.

Had a good night in there on Christmas Eve. They had a band playing and the place seemed livelier than most the other pubs in Barnet that night.
|
Long narrow former Wetherspoon's pub opposite "The Spires" shopping centre. Barstaff are very friendly but are few in number so service whilst good may take a while. Nice atmosphere if a little on the quiet side and a good choice for a venue to watch football as they show every game they possibly can on good high quality plasms TVs. Beer selection is reasonable and quality variable but generally good. Prices are very competitive. Kitchen was closed when I visited so no idea what the food is like sadly. Not bad at all in the final analysis but more one for a quiet pint with the paper or a good spot for a private conversation rather than a boisterous night out.

what a dive, dingy dirty smelly and boring but okay if you're an old man who likes horrible beer and sport on the tele

This pub is pretty grim. I hadn't been in for a while until a couple of weeks a go and it was grotty, shabby, smelt of a mixture of wee and disinfectant, and had the strangest League of Gentleman style clientele, although I might have picked a bad day. Would never return.

this pub is usually very quiet during the week but smiles from the staff and customers still flow as easy as the beer, the relaxed atmosphere disappears come friday when the pub is packed with a friendly crowd who come for the big music screens and cheap drinks, the entire pub seems to be on first name terms with the rest of the pub which makes for an enjoyable night out, definitely recommended :) oh and they have large selection of meals, snacks and guest ales change regularly

Wetherspoons have now changed this pub and it is now part of another chain but has gone down hill even more - if that is possible? The pub was empty - at least in the past you could laugh at all the scallies drinking cider but now there is no one there. I was there on a Sunday night and when it was a 'spoons there would be a pretty good crowd but since the prices have increased it is dead. The pub didnt even have crips - we had to go and buy our own from the off licence. Prices have increased as well so it's one redeeming feature seems to have vanished ...

The Moon under water is a classic pub. Friday night its packed, till its spilling out into the small beer garden they have out the back. A good pub to start off the night with and you'll find that you'll probably end up finishing it there too! Its always good to have a drunken conversation with one of the many anonymous faces there, i definately recommend it.
