Decent enough as a pub but the food was disgusting. I would have happily refused to pay but the others in my party didn't wish to cause a fuss. Wouldn't go again and would urge anyone to walk around the corner to the Crown Inn where the meals were wonderful. Golden Key, okay if you just fancy a drink but avoid at all costs if you are looking to eat.

Traditional country pub with three Adnams bitters and very good reasonably priced food. Just enough pubby atmosphere to keep this on the right side of being a restaurant.

Very pleasant place if you want to pay 13.99 pound for a rabbit pie and 3.70 for a pint, tucked away down a quiet road it has a nice position.

First impressions were good - clean, lots of atmosphere and friendly efficient staff. However meal was great disappointment. Onion tart with goats cheese was more a quiche with virtually no taste of onion or cheese. The meat pie had greasy, soggy pastry and and the filling was almost entirely onion. What little meat was in it was OK but overall very poor. Shame really, as the establishment had been recommended by friends. We may try it again but choose something else. Prices a little high compared with pubs nearby.

Pub has changed hands recently from previous (longish) term incumbent. As far as I can see any change from previous excellent regime has been for the better - difficult I know - but true. Food has certainly been upgraded - had line caught cod & chips - my two guests had a pheasant pie the like of which I have never seen before. Made to share for two, with a shin bone as a funnel, it could have served three - however they ate it all and the generous servings of veg that came with it. My cod was probably the best I have ever had - batter crisp, chips huge, obviously hand cut, and homemade tartare sauce, and even a fantastic salad garnish - the lemony dressing was out of this world - no dry tomato & cucumber here. Beer was good too - my pint of Old was decent and a nice temperature. Pub decorated well too - not much clutter - nice solid furniture Food fantastic Beer pretty reasonable 9/10 overall

We had a thoroughly nice Sunday lunch here recently. The place seemed crowded but we got served quickly enough and the food showed up prompltly.
I had the roast lamb, which was good, and herself had the beef, which sent her over the Moon. Despite being presumably sliced off a pre-cooked joint it was still slightly pink and tender (I've found that roast meat on Sunday lunchtime can be a bit dry. Not here) The roast spuds were properly crisp,, as were the parsnips (I can never get parsnips to crisp properly) and the Yorkshire was lovely
Two good pints (yes, herself drinks pints) of Regatta, which we'd not seen before went rather well with that.
Recommended.
Apparently the boss is off to the Harbour Inn in Southwold soon. I hope the Golden Key gets someone who can keep it up, and maybe we'll go and check out his new pub

This pub has recently been accredited as food pub of the year, by Adnams, I believe. As an Adnam's pub I did expect a few more beers being served and my pint of Explorer was pretty flat to be honest. The Bitter was superb but only 3 cask ales, one of which was definitely below par, even for an untied pub.
Food was supreme. I had moussaka with hand-cut chips instead of salad served with no fuss or incident. Said chips were beyond reproach and clearly were in potato form not an hour before they were served. It seems that this place is favoured by actors as I was told that someone from gavin and stacey was having lunch with alf garnett when we were there. Puddings far exceeded expectations ranging from brownie to baked cheesecake via home-made icecream.
I cannot say enough for this rural place. It's located bang-smack in the middle of retirement country but still it provides superb service from the bar and waiting staff as well as reasonable ale and top-quality food. When I first saw the menu I took a sharp intake of breath but after eating was highly satisfied.

Lovely old and traditional pub with real fire and oak beams. Serves good ale and what looked and smelt like good food. Friendly and welcoming staff too.

Had a lunch time meal, very good selection of food on blackboard, sandwiches and ploughmens also avaiable. Very good service, barman and waitress very pleasant, nice atmosphere and good food. Recomended, we will be visiting again soon.

A new owner has been in place since December who has a successful past in running a pub in the area. The changes are superb - the food is excellent with as much as possible seeming to be locally sourced; the wine list is 'work in progress' as you are encouraged to let the staff know if you particularly like something or have any comments; and the staff are very friendly. The outdoor area is delightful and a real sun trap for those long summer days. A table of diners near us had telephoned ahead and explained various food allergies etc and nothing was too much trouble for the staff - the diners looked very happy with their empty plates at the end of the meal.
A must to visit!

Returned to this pub after a delightful walk at Snape in order to fill up on a ploughmans and a few nice Adnams beers. Visited a couple of years ago and had a lovely lunch/ploughmans outside; great atmosphere as well. What a difference!! Seems to be a new landlord; refused to serve a ploughmans, even said we would not find anything like this in the local area either (strange given it is in the middle of the countryside/ploughing territory!). No acknowledgement when we walked into the bar despite only 3 people sitting at the bar (odd given it was bank holiday weekend and good weather?!). Does this chap think he is Gordon Ramsay? He has the attitude, but for goodness sake, even Gordon knows you need to keep the menu simple, and keep the customer happy! What do you expect when you go to a pub in the middle of Suffolk - 'The Ivy' type of food - er, no! Lose the attitude, and think about what your customers really want - 'stick to the knitting!' If you want to have attitude then go to London and open a 5 star restaurant! Friendly landlords - where can you find them in Suffolk?!

Whenever I visit Suffolk I make a point of visiting this excellent pub - excellent Adnams Ales and delicious food. Max & Susie upgraded this pub many years ago and it is a wonderful warm environment.
