Used to fab when it 1st opened as most bars do went downhill as the yrs went on and new bars opened. Wouldnt go there now really lots of bigger and better around although under new management now , lets hope they can save it !!!!!!

I was at Brannigans this weekend and what can i say, under new management, the door staff getting there kit off, dancing on stage, no attitude from the doorstaff, drinks are not cheap but it is definetly changing

We are not all clones, so we all like different things, some people like Brannigans Mondays some dont.

Like Bar Med, Brannigans is nothing more than a human cattle market. I got the impression from most of the customers in there that it was a pick-up point for hussies and one-night stands.
Absolutely grotesque venue - I'd rather stay in and clean the toilet on a Saturday night!
Oh, and God forbid you look someone in the eye...

Wow, certainly some mixed reviews about this place! Perhaps suffice to say that those who enjoy this place wouldn't enjoy places that I do. And I am perfectly happy with that. Unless I suddenly long for the sight of girls on stage removing their thongs (who still wears them anyway?) before flinging them at the crowd.

It is what it is. Actually that's a load of rubbish; it's f***ing terrible, but I can see the appeal if you're too drunk or too stupid to get in anywhere else. I'm surprised that it doesn't feature regularly on TV programmes about binge-drinking and antisocial behaviour. Certainly David Attenborough could find plenty in here to base his next wildlife series on.
As for the ridiculous comment that bouncers in tuxedos add a bit of class, this only applies if you consider blue WKD, Coleen McLoughlin, and breast implants similarly "classy".
Anyone who doesn't want to waste their time on God's green Earth should stay the hell away.

Lot of criticism here some of which I agree with. But the re-opening of Brannigans after the adpatations was first class. The staff were all well mannered ( including the Doormen that night or I would not have got in!) and the effort made by the rest of the staff - Tuxedo's making the place a little up market. And a lot of the lasses left their wide belts at home and replaced them with cocktail dresses and , yes, I saw a couple of evening gowns too.
Well, they wanted to be one up on the Toon's Bigg Market establishments!
As for the floor - well dance floors were not intended for trainers and you can always bring your own "gloss" to spread or rollerskates ( get away with that?)! Just as good a floor as the Reflex up by the Tower.

Well this place is a hole. There are no words to describe this chav fest. Avoid like it like the plague or youll catch it!! The bouncers are aggressive, the floor is full of old mutton, 13 year old girls with belts on or showing a mid riff which god no should be put away and pervy old men!! The floor is soooooo sticky you cant actually move (i thinks thats how they keep people in)
Been twice, which is twice to offen, would rather be in prison - oh no thats like Brannigans too!

Very unpleasant Door staff/and bar management. Always get barged into during an increasing number of fights there. dont go to a to manager either. they dont want to know. Cheap drinks tho, however not a very good selling point. Started going to Basingstoke now.

I have to agree that Monday nights in here are awesome. The bouncers, however, are not! they are rude, unfriendly, and the service isn't great. The drinks are cheap though which is a plus. The trouble is, monday nights have become so popular that they tend to get quite crowded and the queue has been seen to go all the way back to the traffic lights near the bridge! They do however offer the chance of getting a priviledge card...meaning queue skipping and only one pound entry. Recently they have been fairly picky with this unfortunatley and it does not work on bank holiday weekends!

I think you all talk alot of s**t. I have had really good nights in Brannigans and the music is a good change from the identical bars in friar street. It certainly beats the walkabout thats for sure. I say dont knock it till you try it. Best nights are student nights on monday and fridays. Yeah you get your pervs in there but as a girl i get that everywhere.

Brannigans is the epitome of all that is awful in drinking in Reading. From the aggressive bouncers to the awful, tarted-to-the-nines under aged slappers and half-a-pot-of-wella wearing sex offenders, this is one of the worst places to wind up of a night out. Playing unispiring, insipid house music that is a good few months out of date, your chances of escaping without a)a desperate divorcee attached to your face b) a squaddie's knuckles embedded in your face, or c) VD are pretty much nil. Avoid like the plague.

Brannigans is painfully bad. Tacky, dull music supported by unsophisticated clientele that do nothing to add to its already boring ambience. This location purely appeals to the mainstream, and does nothing for those who enjoy quality and style. In three words; uninspiring, drab & average.

I found brannigans very interesting and they played quality music. I had a lot of fun!

God awful......makes Bar med look like Paradise, i gave it a generous 2 seeing as ive been in on works do's & friends birthdays who like this type of place and had a bearable time, but the place is shocking !

Has to be in the top 2 for finishing venues on a night out. Everyone knows at weekends it's a meat market for packs of desperate blokes of all ages mauling and perving on women, who again come in all ages and sizes(note:ladies, if your gut hangs out your crop tops by more than 4 inches don't wear a belly ring, not a good look. My skins still crawling from the last sighting) Best time is monday or wednesday, fantastic atmostphere and drinks deals and more chance of snaring some decent prey.

Me and my mates went to Brannigans in Reading monday of this week, it was my 18th birthday and i must admit it was a fantastic place to have my first legal nite out. ive been going to town 4 ages and i havent had a nite so good ever b4! 10/10 it was a great night!!

Brannigans is wicked, except for the fact that the drinks are a bit pricy, can get extremley busy at weekends, which shows its popularity. However, the bouncers can be quite aggressive.

Mukky duck on a Monday night is one of the best nights of the week, it has great drinks offers, music, outragous games on stage. Also unlike other nights in a Brannigans it has really fit Lads And Gils all younger than 30+ which is usually the cliental @ Brannigans. I think the night is run by external promoters which is evident as it has a different feel about it. 5 star rating for anyone who wants a night out on a monday...

Eating, Dancing and Cavorting is the strapline; unfortunately the food's terible, the music is crap and the average Brannigans client has no idea what cavorting is. At least the whole chain is going bust; the only good bit is seeing pissed up 40 year olds dance to 80s ballads.
