Large hotel-like pub that was hosting a wedding reception when we were here on Saturday. This was another Marstons establishment with Pedigree, Pedigree New World, Banks's Cereal Thriller & Leatherbritches Porter. I opted for the porter, which was good. There is a nice outdoor patio at the back, with a garden sloping off to some more tables. There is also a small childrens' play area. Reasonable pub.

Shenstone Brew Company's Hop Easter Beer and Doom Bar were on offer yesterday, the former rather thin and not at all moreish. I wasn't sure what this pub was trying to be - Laura Ashley-style floral wallpaper feature walls in places but pistachio green-painted embossed 1980's wallpaper on other walls. When I looked at their old photos, it was easy to understand how this used to be called a hotel rather an inn with the difference in atmosphere that the two types of establishment offer.

Have just been staying in Fenny Bentley and went to the Bentley Brook both nights. Only had one real ale on - Martsons Pedigree - which was good enough but am used rather more of a selection these days. Was looking forward to some Leatherbritches but brewery is no longer on site apparently though still supplies beer occasionally. Food was poor - chips with everything and quality not great. On the plus side the outdoor area is great if you've got kids and staff friendly enough. Overall would say could be a lot better!

Called in during the late May Bank holiday beer festival, very good selection of mostly local beers in a marquee in the garden. Advertised and operated a token system, but then confusingly took cash as well - surely one or the other would have simplified things. Although not busy at the time of our arrival, it made things a little slow and a bit frustrating as we had diligently bought tokens only to have to wait as people asked for pints, then didn't know you could get tokens and wanted to pay cash, leading to little stand-offs until it was resolved. Didn't get into the pub itself and didn't eat, so that will all have to wait for another time.

Gave this place another go on halloween 2008, as staying in village. Totally different experience to last visit. Had a great time. Pub had a good atmosphere with bar decorated, special menu, etc. Only complaint was portion size of food was small for cost.

Staying in the village, and went for eveing meal & pintabout 18:30hrs. Place was empty and looked for staff for about 5 minutes, eventaully found one and asked if they were doing food. He replied they were but not for about a hour as they had had decorators in that day and were not quite ready. Thought I'd get a pint or two and wait, only to find he promptly disappeared again! Had a look at the bar menu and thought it very pricey, so went down the road to the Coach & Horses - great welcome, great food, well worth the longer walk! Very disappointed with the Bently Brook as was looking forward to trying their own beer. Not heard a good comment about it from other guests staying in the village over the couple of months I've been here.

Lovely Pub, and Leatherbritches Beer is delightful, sampled Ashbourne Ale and Belter. Shame that they didn't have more on tap, although I did go away with some of there bottled beer. Will return!!!

Went to sample a few of the Leatherbritches Ales but was disappointed to find only two on. Enjoyed them though but would hope to find a better range available on my next visit. Lovely outside seating area.

The last few visits to this pub have been disappointing, but yesterday's was a low point. Only one real ale, Marston's Pedigree, on draught with five empty pumps. We were told that they had been very busy, but when we went the place was vitually empty and lacking atmosphere. Leatherbritches beers could only be purchased in gift packs. It is unbelievable that a pub with it's own brewery is unable to sell you one of it's own beers. It'll be some time before we consider returning.

Visited this place two days ago - but its more of a dining room than a pub. Strange that a place with a micro-brewery attached could only manage to have one beer on draught - Ashborne Ale. Said ale was excellent, but I would have liked to have tried others. There were only 3 bottle packs for sale, and these were all the same. Dont bother with the food though, it is awful and overpriced. Service was pathetic, and even though we left most of the food we had been served, none of the staff asked about this. We wont be going back to this place.

The most important thing about this country pub is that it has it's own microbrewery, Leatherbritches whose beers are quite excellent. The pub itself is family friendly and the food is good but maybe a touch pricey. A cosy pub atmosphere is difficult to achieve in a rather large open plan bar, but on thw whole I'd give it the thumbs up.

Excellent pub for all the family. There is a big lawn out front for impromptu weekend games of footie for the nippers. I love the Leatherbritches beer brewed on the premises and Mrs superowl likes the plant nursery attached to the pub.
Food is on the whole pretty decent, particularly when you go for the more simple fare e.g. excellent bangers and mash with good quality sausage is my regular choice.

The beer is excellent regardless of being brewed in situ. The company is friendly. Haven't tried the food. Ale is excellent.

A great pub, ideally situated for a pint on the way home from the Peaks.Leatherbritches ales brewed on the premises.

This has got to be my all time favourite pub. The main reason is that the real ale is brewed on the premises which has a fantastic taste. Ideally situated not far from the Tissington Trail so after a long walk its ideal for a real ale steak pie and a pint of their great ale.
