Pleasant and friendly street corner local not too far from the front. Ale was ok though minor gripe is it all comes off the GK playlist.

Could not disagree more about the previous two comments, the new landlady is taking great steps into making this a more traditional pub than it ever has been, new furniture has replaced most of the outdated tatty furniture, the kitchen has been ripped out and fully replaced, the toilets and area leading out to the garden have been renovated and I do believe that the exterior of the building is due to be renovated with new signs, windows replaced etc. the pub is now getting busier and attracting new people. All in all I would say another pub that is slowly but surely getting back to a nice little local, that probably would have closed if the current landlady wasn't so enthusiastic about restoring this place into a great pub. Keep up the good work

Can only agree with the previous comment, the new managements attitude stinks, a traditional pub ruined in my opinion. Horrible horrible place! Such a shame as on previous visits i'd always thought it was such a lovely establishment.

Heard the crossleys now have the new inn, poor pub!!!!!!

Yet another closed pub. This one at least had a sign indicating it was closed for a refurbishment. So I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and review next time I'm in the area - could be another 10 years or so though!

what a good pub, everything spot on,from the ale to the roast and the cheese board 8/10

Just found this great pub via this site and reviews. Had Sunday lunch there today and i'm pleased to say it more than lived up to the reviews and our expectation. We were greeted when we walked in and the locals were friendly and of varying ages, families and dogs seem equally welcome and all seemed to treat the place as home. Very friendly welcoming atmosphere and olde worlde unspoilt charm that sadly is in demise elsewhere with 'modernisation' (don't do it!).
Had a superb home cooked, proper sunday roast. The beef just melted in the mouth and was perfectly cooked. Giant yorkshire pud and proper home made gravy. Deserts and cheese board were also excellent with my apple crumble being as close to perfect as I have tasted. Prices were where they should be and all was excellent value. My mother in her 80s enjoyed it so much, before she went she was not hungry, yet when it arrived she managed to eat the lot! The bar staff were friendly and helpful, attentive without being intrusive. No card machine (not a real problem as long as you know). We were asked if we would come back..........just try stopping us! Look forward to sampling the music one evening and the weekday menu looked very appetising too....will no doubt sample this at some time.
To the New Inn, thank you, keep up the good work and don't change a thing.

Well this was a nice visit, i'll certainly return here on a music day. Thumbs up to a real pub.

A nice oldie world pub with real ales open fire and a sunday roast second to none. Live music at the weekends.
|
nice pub. good drinks and friendly staff. most of the regulars seemed nice too. very good place to drink if you like folk music and folk music types,if that's not your thing you might feel a little out of place in there?

very good locals pub , something quite rare nowadays

Kevin the Collie has visited the New Inn and it has his seal of approval. Very friendly, for dogs and humans. If they they did some food in the evenings - even a few rolls - this would be a near-perfect pub.

Pleased to say, the beer is still great, as was the band.

I see there hasn't been a review of this little gem for some time, so I am happy to confirm that it is still a great pub. I was there last summer; the beer was great (Sussex Gold I think), the staff were friendly, the band in the front bar was excellent and the juke box in the back bar rocked too.
Will be drinking there again this weekend. Beats most pubs I know in London!

Excellent pub tucked away off the seafront near Norfolk Gardens. Friendly atmosphere and staff, with country inn style seating. Good beer and safe night out
