This pub definitely isn't closed, I haven't been in it, I don't frequent Gipsy hill but I know several people who work and have worked here within the past year.

I worked there for years in the early 90's was a fantastic pub jackie and steve were great entertainers and you could garrentee you always had a good night and a major hangover the next day. A shame these pubs have to change.

Nice Pub, friendly atmosphere, good garden. Music was excellent. Recommended

This is one crackin Pub. Live music on Saturday nights which was cool. A bit loud but the music was good. They also do a Jam Nite on Wed, which was also loud, but the quality of the musicians was amazing, real blues and jazz orientated. Someone must have cleaned up the garden in the rear beacuse it was spotless and filled with interesting characters. Friendly bar staff that know how to pour a pint of beer helps as well. Pool Table, Big screen, Table footbal, Beer garden; What more could you want. BEST PUB IN THE AREA BY FAR.

Decent beers and deals on spirits and ales although some unruly and dodgy looking characters hanging around by the pool table. A surly looking american guy with blonde hair seems to run the place although you'd never know he was the landlord as he seems to spend all his time either playing the one arm bandits or going back and forth to the till to get more change. Ok big screen at back for sporting events.
Nice beer garden if you can avoid the dog dirt.

Had a couple of different experiences in here. Sometimes it feels very welcoming and at other times it feels like one of those wild west pubs where the pool balls stop rolling when someone new walks in. Occasionally surly bar staff who serve their mates first and obviously just assume you're waiting for a bus rather than for service.
It did used to be a lot better than this and was quite lively during the week.. However, it's now fairly dead except at the weekends. I'd recommend walking up the hill to the Gipsy Hill Tavern instead.
