Called in on a quiet Saturday afternoon. 3 cask ales on our side of the bar Doom Bar, Fullers HSB & something else were all off, but 2 local Kent brews were on, of which the Caveman was excellent. Great outside area. Would definitely go back if in the area.

Was out walking with a group of people today. We got to this pub and the garden and pub were empty. That's not "not many people" - that's "completely empty - no one there at all". I went to get a couple of pints (etc) to have with our sandwiches which we were planning to eat at the far end of the garden. The sour harridan behind the bar told me they were running a pub, not a picnic site. I could undersdtand that if they were busy they wouldn't want us taking up space that paying punters would use, but when you have no custom whatsoever do you really turn people away?

We stumbled across this pub almost by accident. We had meant to go elsewhere but found the place to be awful. This we found this - a real country pub, sadly becoming a rare breed. The food is traditional English, well-cooked and plenty of it. They do about three real ales, which were well-kept. And it is truly friendly. Added to that, it is a very pretty, not to say ancient, pub. We were a party of 12 people and not noted for throwing praise around. I cannot fault this place. Even while we were there , we were planning our return.

This is my local pub and I can highly recommend it. The new management are doing a great job. Fantastic traditional pub food in a friendly atmosphere!

"I'd thoroughly recommend the establishment"
I bet you would ... that's because you work there.

The best value pub lunch in Southern England. They gave me so much veg with my Sunday roast I couldve fed another person (or was that because it was a horrible rainy day outside and I arrived just before the lunchtime rush?). Nice to have a genuine old pub with a friendly welcome to visit when in this part of Kent.

Warm welcome from the amiable landlady and a fine pub too. Would recommend a stop here.

OK pub in the back of beyond. Trouble is, in an area with some pretty storming pubs within ten minute's drive, it's merely OK. I'm not saying it's bad - far from it. But there's nothing to put it above the competition.

Called in for a bar snack- i ended up being seduced by the traditional menu (had steak suet pudding). Excellent portion size of home made food- longish wait for it (but we were constantly advised of this). The wait was worth it- best quality food I have had in long time.
Beer was well kept and presented- I was given choice of glass to choose from.

This is one of the best pubs weve been to very friendly welcome, food superb and great intrior stumled on it by accident whilst out walking the dogs would recommend a visit

Absolutely the best food we've found in years. Friendly atmosphere, good value, wonderful beer, food all cooked to order and not a microwaved thing in sight. Well worth the 2 hour 40 minutes drive we had to do to get there. Not a single adverse comment to make.

Superb country pub tucked between Hothfield, Pluckley, and Little Chart. Wide variety of friendly locals and staff, the pub caters for the young 'uns one side (pool table and big screen TV) and the old 'uns the other side (open fire and quieter area). Excellent food is all home cooked, and the beers are well looked after on the way to the glass! Spitfire, London Pride, and Master Brew accompany Stella, XXXX and a choice of normal or cold Guinness. A small slice of heaven miles from bloody anywhere!
