Well the girlfriend reckons it's her new number one for a Sunday lunch out. I'm not totally there but at the same time I can't think of anywhere we've been recently that tops it. Great big piece of cod with loads of chips and peas (and not in a Poncey ramekin!). Excellent homemade chilli for her. Sat upstairs in busy restaurant and enjoyed excellent service. Great pint of Churchill, would have loved a few more but was in the car. Roaring log fire, will be back for a pint and sandwich downstairs with the footy as soon as the nearby Quebec house is open again for the season.

Drove here in the 2CV with the roof back on a sunny late February Sunday. Two pints of Westerham 'Jubilation', excellent beer. others tried Timothy Taylor was was also praised. We sat in the back bar with the log fire. The food was excellent and very well presented. Chicken Curry for me. At least four real ales from handpumps. Really liked the place and will return. Food expensive? 78 pounds for dinner for four and six pints. Not bad was it?

Old style pub right on the village green. Not much room in the two downstairs bars but there's a big dining room upstairs. Nice log fire burning in the rear bar. Westerham beers on pump, they only had "Jubilee" on while I was there but that was fine. Food was good but quite expensive. Very friendly / helpful staff.

Not bad, but too close to the green and therfore too many tourists. Nice selection of local beers including 2 from the Westerham brewery. Food very nice but a bit expensive, 2 seperate bars and the journey from the public bar to the gents needs a degree in mountainering, not the thing if you've just had a few drinks. The location is the thing here, just off the green, next to the church, just handy for ramblers, bikers and tourists.

I have been to this place a few times now and overall I would say it is quite good . There is a selection of 5 or 6 ales including local favourites from the Westerham brewery as well as Harveys , Adnams Broadside and sometimes Timothy Taylors Landlord . It is only small but has three bar areas , usually a good atmosphere and the Landlord/Landlady have put a bit of work in and have been here for years . There is a courtyard type beer garden , but I have not ventured out there as the front of the pub is the place to be .
The menu looks interesting , have only had a lunchtime snack so far but it was nice .
When the sun is out you can sit on the green with Mr Churchill and General Wolfe and watch the world go by .
Overall ... location , decor , beer , food, atmosphere and staff make this a real good pub , and I now live a short walk away :-) .

This Pub is becoming my local (see comment on The General Wolfe). The beers usually include the Westerham Brewery "Grasshopper" and Harveys. The food is very good, but not cheap. Staff usually seem friendly if a bit rushed at times. The green is great for sitting out and watching the world.

This pub could be brilliant. It is in a quaint old building and in the winter the back bar has a log fire in a big brick fireplace. They sell some decent beers including from Westerham's own brewery. But the staff can be a bit offhand or careless, the beer isn't always that well kept, and the place looks like it could be cleaned better.

No Boyzone playing on my visit. Therefore I remained.
Nice hostelry with a couple of bars. One for darts. So mind your head sunbeam.
Good beer the Harveys was nice and the service was friendly enough. Impressive enough on a quick visit.

lovely pub, good food/service and good beer garden at the back. my only complaint was Boyzone playing last week - ha ha

We had to walk out of this diabolical place as the staff was so lousy and the food quality was dreadful.
We will NEVER be going here again.

Nice traditional old pub in the town centre. Usually has at least a couple of beers from the excellent Westerham Brewery. Food OK though a bit over priced(but maybe not for Westerham). Worth a visit if your in the area.
|
Nice traditional three bar local in perfect situation on the green. Westerham ales in reasonable, but not tip top condition. Pity about the blackboard obsession, and the somewhat cheerless service. No please, thankyou or goodbye for doing them the favour of returning our glasses when leaving. No point eating here unless you're crazy enough to pay nine quid for mince and onion pie and chips.
Worth a look if you're passing but don't make a trip of it.

Popped in last night to meet friends. Nice friendly place, quite smokey in the back bar but the front bar was very pleasant. I couldn't find the Harveys (Old Tom) but did enjoy some Westerham beers.

A good pub which serves a cracking pint of Harvey's. Lovely in both the summer and winter - a big beer garden overlooking the North Downs and church for the former, a lovely fire in an intimate bar for the latter. I only wish the regulars at the bar would make some effort to move slightly when people come up to order!

Went there for lunch on Saturday after a visit to Mr Churchill's house. Nice pub with good ales and decent food. Roast Pork chop with new spuds & veges was a defo winner.
|
nice pub the locals are friendly enough, good selection of real ale which is a bonus.and they love dogs, the only problem is the availability of food which on the two previous times we visited they was not serving. once was on bank holiday tuesday evening which is fair enough but they, the other was a saturday night at 7.30 when it stated they serve till nine. maybe they could put a sign up to say they are not serving rather than leaving the food boards up.other than that a great pub
