WTF!!!!!
Quite possibly the most pretentious pub I have ever been to - both sides of the bar. As for the converted garden sheds on the front patio - DO ME A FAVOUR! And blankets to take outside - IT'S NOT A PICNIC AREA!
Beer OK, couldn't argue about that. So 1 point for that & zero for this horrendous place. Still, the posh & snobby locals will love it.
|
Absolute cracking pub that is worthy of the short walk from the High St and past The Coat & Badge.
This was my 3rd pub in Putney in one evening and I love it.
We came here around 10.40pm and was cheerily greeted by the bar maid. 4 pints of Navigation’s Ice Breaker @ 4% were duly ordered and knocked back.
Large open planned boozer with lots of wood. There are books and board games available and live music is also offered.
Even though it was late on a Wednesday evening the pub had a really nice chilled atmosphere about it and I’m sure when it’s busy it’s a great pub to spend an evening.
£4.00 a pint which is about right for this area but I’m happy to pay this when the beer is good and well served.
I suggest you ignore the reviews (apart from mine) and visit here as it’s much better than previous reviews suggest.
|
We had an excellent day here its a comfortable, friendly pub, with a good choice of food and drink, and relaxed ambience. We were particularly impressed by the TV policy they dont advertise it, so as not to attract clientele that comes in just for the sport, but we were able to watch the Grand National in comfort.
|
Very typical gastro-type place, utterly unremarkable and average Wandle (I think). I wouldn't complain if taken here with friends for a pint, but would opt for the Bricklayers if I had the choice.
|
Went here on Saturday but it didn't seem particuarly welcoming. Only beer worth drinking in here was Wandle except they'd done that annoying thing of not changing the clip when the beer had run out so you queued up in anticipation only to be disappointed. Not recommended.
|
Gastropub-type place slightly off the beaten track in Putney, but not too far away to combine with the Bricklayers Arms. 4 ales were on - Brakspear Oxford Gold, Sharps Doom Bar, Stonehenge Eye-Opener & Sambrooks Wandle. 3 keg ciders on were Addlestones, Aspalls and Hogans. The interior is dark and moody. After several ciders in the Bricklayers, my memory is fairly hazy. But I seem to remember bare boards with background music playing. It's a mainly young customer base. Many were sat on the front patio when we arrived. But the dropping temperatures seemed to be sending them all inside or elsewhere. I can recommend the beer battered black pudding which can be purchased as a bar snack. It wasn't bad value at 2.50 or you could purchase 3 portions for 10!! Luckily my maths still stacks up when I've had a few.
|
Nice enough place, attracts a bit of the hoo rah Henry brigade but then we are talking Putney so no great surprises there.
Nice beers on offer and the staff have always been friendly when I've been in, but then they probably have to be to avoid any "scenes" when they ask everyone to move inside so as not to offend the neighbours.
My only gripe is that given the crowd the place attracts I don't really see why people can't stay in the garden with their drinks - ok so maybe the odd social mountineer's braying laugh might get annoying if you live next door but it's not like we're talking about a rowdy place at all so perhaps on a weekend people could be allowed to stay outside and enjoy a warm summer evening....just a thought.
Still, in the meantime definitley a nice place to meet friends and kick off an evening out with some banter and nice beers....plenty of other places to move onto once the outside area closes down after all
|
In here on Monday night. Doom Bar (3.25), Wandle (3.65), Fullers IPA (the 4.8 version rather than Bengal Lancer) and Wharefebank Wispa IPA. Prices are per menu as I didn't pay, guest beers 3.50. Gastro looking pub, ales decent enough.
|
Looks like it could be a typical pricey Putney pub but st surprisingly decent inside and lacks the pomposity of its near neighbours - yes that means you the Duke's Head.
Has a good range of beers. Will guarantee a good after work drink up.
|
Popped in here on Tuesday night - not for the Quiz especially, but to meet some mates.
This place has gone through so many ups and downs over the years but it looks like things are finally getting back on track. I didn't eat but the beers were top notch and the service was friendly and efficient, even when busy.
Let's hope the trend continues in to the Summer months
|
Popped in yesterday to try the roast. Used to drink in this pub years ago when it first got refurbed to look like the other gastro pubs in Putney. Ordered two roast beefs and was told it was going to take about half an hour. While it was cooking I decided to pop out and leave my friend there. While out received a phone call stating the food was served. So I had to hurry back to my meal. The plate looked amazing but on closer inspection there were a few flaws. There was hardly any meat on the plate and the potatoes weren't even roasted (jacketed and presumably seasoned).
The pub has a nice atmosphere and the staff seem nice. Just need to improve their roast a bit. Good selection of beer and wines.
|
It breaks my heart to give this pub anything other than a glowing review but unfortunately the staff are letting this place down. When the management and staff congratulate each other at the end of the night in front of you for "telling customers off" it leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I have been coming here for years and it has been through some changes of management but this current Landlady is dreadful. The decor and location are incredible but a lack of decent service makes this pub a solid 5.
|
The great decor, ambience and the convenient location of this pub keep me coming back time after time but the staff certainly don't. Each time I leave feeling frustrated by the terrible service. I think the partiuclar lady in question is the manager / owner who seems to think it's okay to 'tell off' her customers. Not okay!
|
I visited this pub years ago on a saturday afternoon and left before getting served when a pint glass came through the (closed) window.
Hope it got better!!
|
Cracking pub, food beer atmosphere staff all present and correct. This best pub in Putney excepting the Bricklayers of course.........
|
one word will settle all debate about this place.
shithole.
|
sweet baby jesus and the baptists.
this place stinks of wee.
and there are big fat hairy muff munchers in every darkened corner, quitely flicking each others beans.
avoid this place like the plague. its a rat-infested cess pit of doom that the devil himself would br proud to drink in.
|
Have to say I have been impressed by the food served here. The menu constantly changes as items run out, so always a good variety on offer.
Do a good selection of beers. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Glad I stumbled across it, and will certainly divert that way again (maybe tonight)
|
dont expect decent food (portion size or quality ) in any M&B site. its either going to be frozen brakes food stuffed in a microwave to thaw and then over cooked in the combi oven to make it look as its real food or it will be made by some pub cook , recently promoted from being a glass collector, who doesnt know a thing about preparing and cooking proper british food. avoid M&B if you want true british cooking!!
|
I have stopped using this Michel and Butler pub after being served a shephards pie that was overwhelmingly potato and very little shepherd. When I complained was told that M&B tell them what portions to serve. This type of control will ruin any reputation that we Brits are just getting back as being able to serve decent food.
|
I walked in here and was hit by a very friendly greeting from the barmaid and a strong smell of incense. The strange chill out music and the lack of other people had me wondering whether I had fallen unconscious.
Only the Deuchars was on with premium lagers and Frulli and my pint of lager was a little dubious to say the least. There is an array of different seating from high stools to sofas along with a nice fireplace. There is also covered and uncovered seating outside the front of the pub.
This is not a bad pub, but its nothing to write home about.
|
One of merely a few good pubs in Putney, this place is well worth a visit, if only to sample the great selection of beers.
The range seems to be ever-changing, and includes a good number of Belgian and German beers, as well as several British ales such as London Pride and Deuchars and decent ciders.
Have eaten there a couple of times and have been quite impressed, despite the comments by other reviewers below. Can be a bit busy (and poncey) at weekends, but during the week is much calmer.
It is not the best pub in Putney but it is probably in the top 3. It is much better than the Coat and Badge just down the road.
|
Not bad, self-conciously 'funky' interior and clientele who obviously like that kind of thing. Quite self-regarding, impressed with itself, but the Pride is always quite nice and the food range is at least always trying to be a bit progressive.
|
A much more homely careworn feel than its near neighbour Coat & Badge, dark wood floors & mixed tables/seating, dodgy 70s-looking curtains to the rear & open brickwork to the left give an odd imbalance to first impression. Pride & Deuchars (yawn)but also unusual Smiles Mistrals.
|
Almost all Putney pubs are cack. It's 'almost' because of a few, such as this place and the Bricklayers, which raise the tone. I don't know what Putney has done to deserve such a fate.
anonymous - 17 Oct 2007 16:15 |
The service is, I agree, hit and miss, but the range of draught beers is incredible (even more incredible is that, with so many, they're always in great condition and rarely off). And the loos have just been done up!
|
Lovely atmosphere, pretty good beer. Really abysmal food occasionally (>1hr wait, then burgers / steaks burned to consistency of leather), though generally OK for Sunday brunch or roast.
|
Excellent pub. Really comes alive in the evenings. Unbelievable range of draught beers. Always full of "beautiful people". Staff are very laid back and a bit slow but I really think this adds to the charm.
|
Overall, this is a very enjoyable boozer. Positives include decent ales (particularly Adnams), top cider (Suffolk), a good outside area for summer, comfortable seating inside and generally good looking birds. Downsides include: not enough staff behind the bar; the toilets can be a bit nasty, and the food can be a bit hit and miss (such as burnt to a crisp sausages).
|
This pub is GREAT! It has a great atmosphere and is never horribly busy (other then when the boat race is on). The food is always very very good and it is nice that it isnt on the main high street.
I love it!
|
This is definitely the best pub in Putney when things are going well. By things, I mean their service. I totally agree with the previous comments regarding the poor service. Was there on 8 March, and had to wait a long, long time to be served. The atmosphere at the bar counter became quite aggressive because the staff were not serving the customers in the correct order (ie.first come, first served).
Noting how far back the comments go regarding the poor service at this pub, my comment will also make no impact to the Powers That Be.
The bathroom is also something that beggars belief.
|
This is a good pub with an excellent range of beers and good atmosphere. The Becks Vier on draught is especially good.
However it is expensive and the toilets are a total disgrace and have been for 10 years or more. This pub has had several refits in the last decade yet they have never modernised the toilet facilities. Shame.
|
I really couldn't advise you strongly enough to find somewhere else to spend your hard earned cash and free time. We had a group lunch at the Jolly Gardener yesterday. We waited 1 Hour 15 minutes for our food and this seemed to be the norm. The waitresses response was "what do you expect when everyone orders at the same time" as if Sunday lunch was a surprise. The staff were rude, the food was terrible and unsurprisingly cold. The tables were filthy. The toilets were disgusting and seemed like they hadn't been cleaned for months.I ended up leaving early as the longer I stayed, the more annoyed I became.
|
Didn't find it anything like as bad as previous reviewers. Three well kept real ales (Adnams Broadside, Deuchars IPA and the ubiquitous London Pride) and a vast range of bottled beers from all over the world.
Background music was of the non irritating variety which is unusual.
Also sports a large range of board games such as Risk and that Operation thingy but whether they ever get used or not I couldn't say.
Staff seemed amiable and efficient enough but - and this may be significant given the previous reviews - I didn't sample the food.
Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the toilets leave a lot to be desired.
|
Great pub - but they are pretty useless. Ordered 2 meals - the first came out fine, the second never arrived. When we asked where it was, we were told it hadn't been ordered. When it finally did arrive, the "generous portion of pie to share" that was quoted on the menu was a tiny sliver. When we first complained about it, we were told that the chef said it was the standard size, we then complained to the assistant manager who was very helpful and said it was an unusually small meal and rectified the problem. Our mate put also some drinks on his tab, only to be told later there was nothing on it! If the food and service were good, i would rate it a lot higher!
|
Further to may last comment: I forgot to mention that it took me 30mins to get servesd at the bar, by which time half my other mates wanted beers as they had finished the drinks they had when I'd left them to get the round in.
Also, the men's toilets were flooded, which I was assured was normal.
A pissed of bar manager with an attitude problem eventually got right up my nose and I left that place with the steeming hump.
|
Was hearded around like sheep by overzealous bar staff all night. First moved from the front beer garden to inside the bar, then from the back of the bar to the front, then outside into the street and then - this is the amazing bit - at closing time was hearded along the length of the street with all of the other people that had been in the bar, well away from the pub.
This pub is in a residential area, clearly the locals are not happy about it and there's strict rules in place relating to the location of customers at particular times of the night.
People get angry and there must be a few fights as a result, there were certainly a few heated exchanges of words the night I was there.
|
Have to agree with other comments here about the quality of service and the rude way that customers are ejected prior to 11pm. Last night I was offered two halves of murky barrel dregs of Caledonian Deuchars followed by a failed attempt to get any London Pride out of the barrel. The alternative was a competatively priced three pound Guinness instead.
Here's a tip for the manager and staff at the JG: when the pub is quieter during the daytime, instead of just chatting to your mates, why not check the casks over to see if there is sufficient stock available for your evening rush of customers and take action accordingly.
|
Totally rude staff. Went with my wife & friends on a Wednesday evening a few weeks back.Ordered some drinks at 10.55pm,told to "drink up" at 11.05pm by snotty girl with attitude. We pointed out very politely that we still had 15 minutes minimum drinking up time, to be glared at, and then 2 minutes later another rude guy came over with an even worse attitude! Its one of those pubs which turns the lights up full at 11pm just like a teenage disco. At my age this behavoir sends me running.
anonymous - 27 Oct 2006 20:21 |
Went on a Friday night. No probelems with the service, although I did have a brunette (as reerred to below) so maybe I got lucky. Walked in at 8:10 to no queue at the bar, and available tables. By 11pm, when we were herded out fairly quickly (problems with neighbours?) it was far more crowded - but not as heaving as I have seen it in the past.
Wine OK, beer apparently OK, food fresh and hot.
anonymous - 25 Oct 2006 11:59 |
I have been going to the jollys for nearly three years and I am very disappionted with how down hill the place has gone recently. The only staff who actually know what their doing are the little blonde girl (who I assume to be the new manageress) and the two brunette girls who have been working there for ages. It is seemly only those three who, not only know the products, but are also always friendly. I hope the new manageress realises that if the jollys is ever going to be nearly as good as it was, she needs to get staff who are trained but more importantly, staff that actually care about customer service.
anonymous - 3 Oct 2006 15:47 |
I agree with all of the negative comments regarding the service in this pub. It took my husband 20 minutes to get served last night, despite the fact that he was right next to the bar. Although he is 6'5", he was seemingly invisible as the bar staff served the pushy queue-jumpers that frequent this pub.
|
I absolutely agree with the below reviews. Pretencious wan*ers behind the bar. Need a lesson in manners and common decency. I hope as suggested the bar staff changes as it is a great little pub. Looking forward to board games in Winter if it returns to its former glory.

I'd have to agree with 'Colonel'. I, along with a lot of mates use to go here quite a lot, but it has now gone down hill...Not in respect to the beer and drinks or pub itself, but in terms of staff and service...the Jolly G's has gone down a huge hill.
I was in there the other day ordering a few beers, and the girl who was about to serve me, asked for my order, then saw someone she knew, so said to me I'll be right back, and I couldnt believe it when I saw her go hug a friend who had just come in, have a chat, then come back and serve me.
The staff in there are rude, dont seem to give a rat's, and think everyday is a halloween fancy dress contest.
If you like that kind of service then fair enough, good on you. However I've started to go for a pint elsewhere in Putney where they actually serve you, want to serve you, and want to be polite. I mean, is it that hard to be polite while serving a pint?
However on the odd occasion if I want someone to be rude to me, I might pop in for a beer, as the beer choice is good.
|
Holy Mother of God. I moved to Putney in 2005 and was instantly impressed with the Jolly G (seem to remember Remi looking after it and having a good team of staff in there). Whatever has happened since she left needs sorting, as the place is frankly a joke now.
In a business which relies on face to face customer relations, it's gone to the pits. We were in there on a Wednesday night for a mate's birthday and there was one guy behind the bar. The other two went glass collecting and subsequently washing and didn't bother serving, despite being 2 deep the length of the bar. It then took 15 minutes no less, just to pay my tab.
We popped in there yesterday after having a pint or two in the Coat and Badge (fantastic service) in order to have some nice beers and some food and it all went wrong. First up we had the most irritating, self-gratifying, irritatingly smug, French g1t serving us. Just babbled on about a load of nonsense, before mis-entering the most simple food order imaginable. When the food turned up, they'd not put wedges on the order, despite them being ordered very audibly (we did get a small plate free later after much griping).
The Customer service then came into it's own when I went to settle my tab and was served by what can only be described as a Kelly Osbourne "wannabe"! A track was on by '4hero' and she was humming it, so in making polite conversation I asked if knew who it was. She replied in a snotty, teenage manner with "Errr....No", so upon telling her, she said "never heard of them". I said "They're like Zero 7". "And they are?!" came the reply....so I'm thinking 'hang on, I'm trying to make polite conversation to alleviate the boredom of the most drawn out wait to be served ever, and this snotty little madam is all attitude and clearly slow on the uptake'......but then came the pinnacle....I gave her my tab and the following happened:
Me: Can I pay my tab please? Kelly Osbourne: You haven't ordered anything. Me: What? Kelly Osbourne: You've not ordered. Me: What do you mean? you've got my card and I want to pay my tab. Kelly Osbourne: But you need to order something. Me: Look. This is my "TAB" number and I want to pay my tab. Kelly Osbourne: But you've not ordered from me. Me: No. I've had a couple of rounds and some food and you have my card. Now find the tab, run it through the machine and let me leave. Kelly Osbourne: Whatever.
So at this point, she gets my card out of the wallet behind the bar and gives it straight to me. So completely startled I hand it straight back to her and say "I'd like to pay my sodding tab!"....finally she managed it and I finally left.
Current status? Great pub with great beers....with the most idiotic, clueless, rude and inept staff I think I've ever witnessed in a pub. I think they should employ Anne from Little Britain as she'd do a much better job.
|
I expect improvements to be forthcoming in the next few weeks. M & B have changed the management, and from what I am told there has been a culling of inept barstaff.
|
I have to agree with all the other reviews on what was once a great pub. Went last week after a long absence, ordered steak and a salmon kebab dish, was told they had run out of couscous for the salmon(on Tuesday?) and was offered only a replacement salad, when the food arrived the replacement salad consisted some lettuce leaves and sliced tomato, and the steak came absent of its vegetable kebab. Only when asked where it was did they say they had run out of those aswell!! Was offered a salad (yeha)not even a discount.. Service at the bar was slow with others constantly being served around you.. Won't be going back in a hurry unless they get there act together..
|
Agree with comments need to change the bar staff, far too slow and totally mucked up each order - food was probably the worst I have had EVER! We chose some bar snacks, totilla chips were hand made puffs of wind (about 5 of them); pate and bread was about a teaspoon size; prawns were full of eggs, took them back and chef said "you shouldn't order prawns on a hot day" - so why the HELL are they on your menu then! Avoid at all costs, far too many decent pubs to chose from in Putney
anonymous - 3 Aug 2006 16:08 |
Hadn't been here for a while until last weekend, and an update is required.
Not much has changed in terms of decor (take it or leave it), range of drinks (excellent, but see below), food (indifferent) or service (f***ing abysmal, and more on this in a mo'). What struck me was that at 10pm on a Saturday night, the place was empty, whereas on previous visits one had to struggle to get through the door.
Dear Mitchells and Butler, there are reasons for this. They are the so-called staff you employ in this shoddy excuse for a pub. Take, for instance, the ordering of wine. If my friend asks for a glass of SA Pinotage, and ends up being served a Casillero del Diablo by a guy who's more interested in looking at his reflection in the mirror behind the bar, how the f*** is she supposed to be impressed? Furthermore, it's usual in the UK to offer your clientele a discretionary 20 mintutes' drinking up time after the bar closes - and not start agressively herding people towards the door at 10:55pm. Oh, and most of your bitter is off too. I suggest someone from the managing company gets a grip. Quickly.
|
This is the Jekyll and Hyde of bars by day a nice friendly pub with reasonable food and pleasant and efficient bar staffbut by night the complete reverse is true with awful service and dried out food (from sitting under hot lamps due to awful service).
Like many places in Putney now, it suffers from the antipodeans Costa Del UK attitude. Much like the scummy Brits who go to Spain to get rat arsed and annoy the locals, a minority of the not so nice Aussies, Kiwis, and South Africans appear to flock to Fulham and inevitably spill over into Putney with the same lets get rat-arsed and pick a fight attitude.
Hop on the train to Barnes. Much better bars on the river.
|
This is a cr@p, characterless London boozer. Cannot believe it gets any good reviews. Just goes to show that some people don't have a clue what a good pub is! Just cos its not as bad as the dives on Putney High Street does not make it a good pub! Probably the worst bar staff in London. Clientele are also a pretentious bunch of tw@ts! Don't go there!
|
This could be a nice pub. Unfortunately I spent 15 minutes in a queue two deep trying to get served while the bar staff continually served their mates and good looking girls so I walked down the road to the coat and badge where they are very polite and serve you regardless of your social connections and gender.

This place rocks. Spend every Sunday in there, this is the place to be if you're allergic to slow Sundays.
Bring Your Own Music is great! Got my favourite track on a couple of times and got told off by the DJ for my choice! Quality!
Word of advice to the manager though. Apart from the black girl and the Italian dude with a south african accent the staff is just crap. Those two together make the best bar tenders! A couple of Sundays ago they were serving 3 people each and bantering at each other! Too funny....
Get rid of the little south african girl and the rest of the guys, save a couple of pretty girls but chuck the rest, please please please hire some decent staff guys!!
JonCl - 21 Apr 2006 16:06 |
visited on 5 April 2006. A pretty good pub with decent selections of beer and wine. The food was very slow to arrive - 1/2 hour for a sausage sandwich and the accompanying salad was tiny and very limp. A good place to drink but I would probably advise eating before you get there.
|
Generally a bit too busy for me. Was heaving on Sunday night - someone spilt beer all over my coat, probably my fault! Did have food here once but it was pretty unexciting - just stodge to soak up booze really, potato wedges etc. Like the board games - Trivial Pursuit seems to work very well for funnelling spilt wine back into your glass.

amidst a few disastrous transformations in putney recently, this one is definitely a success story: old-man-pub no longer. now chilled out board-games-sunday-paper style during the day, and have had some top nights there recently, great beers too. the burgers on the bbq, marquee and fairy lights make for a fantastic summer atmosphere, particularly the boatrace..! its only downfall is that it can get pretty damn rammed.. --Devin, Putney
|
Probably one of the best pubs in Putney as it's off the high street. Good food, good array of beers, you can easily spend a whole sunday in there kicking back with the papers, have lunch, watch some sport...it has laid back feel. Bit like drinking in Clerkenwell.
Oh and please can someone stop the influx of antipodean bar staff in putney....
|
what awful service. where did the manager go? no one is in charge. some short south african girl swans around looking like she is high all the time. I dont know whats happened to this pub.The staff are very rude and the food isnt up to much unless you like it cold!
anonymous - 25 Nov 2005 11:58 |
This is definitely the best pub in Putney. I have spent many a sunday afternoon at the Jolly, kicking back with a Leffe, playing a board game or two(there is Jenga, guess who, game of life to name a few - all your kiddie favourites), listening to some chilled out sunday tunes. The food is great and reasonably priced, there is a great range of beers on tap, and has friendly bar staff and cool clientele. Highly recommended.

Nice is a relative term - this is London, after all.
Spot on!
I think this is one the very few decent pubs in Putney. Is there in fact a better one? Well there is, but I 'aint telling :-)
|
I have visted this pub many times recently and have never had a poor experience. Unlike most establishments, this pub actually has some interesting products, continental beers and a great atmosphere. The music is also spot on. In short I could not disgree more with the comments of the person below.
anonymous - 14 Oct 2005 11:17 |
This pub is not well managed. The staff all look like they are high all the time and theres always someone who looks very dodgy hanging around the toilets. No wonder its the JOLLY gardener. There is a total lack of good management in this pub probably because hes never there. The staff are rude with a total lack of training. Stay away if you want a good night out.
anonymous - 3 Oct 2005 20:48 |
TheClaw is right, this pub is owned by Mitchells and Butlers, as is the Trafalgar on King's Road.
My opinion may be biased as a result of having worked for the manager of this pub a few years back, but he has a knack of turning rubbish boozers into decent pubs with efficient staff (he also did the same with The Hope in Wandsworth Common which had been a Firkin), and he has done it again. Having seen what this pub was like before, I'm not sure there can be too many complaints.
|
Pikey-free pub on the back streets of Putney. Seating out front (and I seem to remember a garden-type effort at the back). Nice, clientele, apart from the bloke who spilled his drink down my back and then expected me to apologise. You could always watch where you're going, chum. Other than that, nice people (nice is a relative term - this is London, after all), nice decor, nice music. Nice. I'll be back.
|
can be full of boring middle class / graduates / precious types, who think they own the world, but can be good, depending on who's in.
Most likely asked question 'what do you do'?. Soooooo 1995. Move on.
evers - 29 Aug 2005 14:54 |
Great pub and I presume owned and run by the same people that transformed The Trafalgar on the Kings Rd?
My only gripe was on a Saturday night, gets very busy and some of the bar staff need to keep an eye on those that have been waiting over 10 minutes to get served, rather than just serve the pretty girls that wander in.
But all in all, a top place for a few beers with mates and have a bite to eat, long may it continue to remain unspoilt by the Coat and Badge regulars.
|
who knows how long it will last but for the time being the staff are great, the locals under control, the food good and the people 'normal'.
|
Good clean well managed pub. Bit pricy, but at least that limits the council estate brigade. Generally an enjoyable 'experience', clientele a bit up themselves.
|
This is probably one of the best run pubs I have ever been to.The staff are well trained, friendly and efficient. They interact well with the customers and each other and all seem to genuinely enjoy their job.It has a great atmosphere, especially on weekends when it gets packed and the food is fab and service is quick. They have great Sunday sessions in there, with Djs and massages and another bonus is that it is away from the madness of the high street.Go there, you wont be sorry!
|
Met some friends here over the weekend. We were eating but food delivery for us was incorrect. Ie we did not receive all the food we ordered. Staff said it was our fault and they were very very abrasive and dreadfully rude. This place was Ok'ish a month or so ago - but now - have no idea what has happened, except a very full doze of Bad Attitude. Stroppy little girls with chips on both shoulders. Decide for yourselves.
|
Have visited this pub several time due to the beer choice and quality. However, the staff are a little too special now and are very arrogant. We have had two consistent experiences within two female members of staff who insist it is the customer's fault that they did not provide the food that was paid for and ordered. Very disgusted in their non 'customer first' attitude. Otherwise, clientele are very good. Just a shame about the people behind the bar.

Where the young and the beautiful go to avoid the crappy pubs on Putney High Street. Service is good and the kitchen is open late. It was packed tonight.

Pretty good if a little overpriced for what it is. Sunday lunches are good, beer (OK, lager) is well kept, nice seating area out the front Without wishing to level a grave insult at it it feels a bit like a chain pub (but happily is a lot less terrible than your average P&P/All Bar One, curse them). It just feels a bit 'averagey' but to be fair to it it's better than that.. just a bit undistinguished. If you're in the area you could do a heck of a lot worse.

Great food and atmosphere, Sundays are a fantastic event with the place filled with giggleing and laughing tables still lethargic after their sunday lucnch attempting to play Twister and KerrPlunk!! Kind of Kitch but trendy funrature gives a relaxed atmosphere, stacks of trendy, arty photography on the walls to keep you entertained when Buckeroo becomes too much!!

Their Sunday roast is the best I've had in a pub. Relaxed atmosphere, great for whiling away an afternoon reading the papers.

Very welcoming place with a great range of largers and bitters and plenty of games lying around. Comfy seating, great food and being nicely off the hight street make this one of Putney best pubs.
