please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Impressive stone building overlooking the village green. But the interior feels more like an upmarket restaurant, with prices to match. They do have a couple of real ales - Otter Bitter & Oakham JHB. No real cider was available on draught. Although they did have Ashton Press. There is a small car park at the back, which leads to a large garden spread over a couple of levels. The rear garden has vegetables growing. Felt a bit pretentious.

Godd beer, but the interior has been ruined.

A strange place this. It is a small hotel with ideas far above its station. Someone has spent lots on creating the "Shabby chic" style that is so popular nowadays (soft leather sofas, big cushions etc) but this is a small (ish) Somerset village.
Not a great choice of ales, but they had a good selection of keg beers available. The service was casual to say the least. An interesting building I'm sure, but quite why CAMRA think it worth a place on their 2012 pub trail is beyond me, especially with both the Rose andCrown (Eli's) and BITES current No.1 pub the Halfway House both nearby

Always a good place to eat. Beers always OK - slightly on the cold side and a bit too expensive (3.20 ish) especially when the Halfway and Eli's are so close!
A bit more food orientated (but very good food)

The place was totally empty when we visited. A nice if somewhat formal garden with plenty of space and a friendly dog.We both had a ploughmans which was excellent value for money with plenty of cheese and ham and bread plus other bits and pieces plus possibly the best chips for miles around. The only criticism was the temperature of the beer, much too cold for a bitter.Friendly staff just a shame about the lack of customers.

Still pretty much as alehouses described, beer now served direct from cellar as hand pumps were redundant, check board over bar for ales on, Moor Merlin's magic and Bath Spa both in good order. Lots of people eating so the food should be OK.

this place has changed hands several times over recent years......
considerably changed since 2003....now with bright modern fittings and bar style, certainly in-keeping with trendy wine bar/cafe type.
so the real ale is no longer a top seller and is therefore a bit variable in quality and of course over-cooled via a modern 'pipe-python'. which also means the cold-lager sells like hot-cakes.
......yawn!!!

fantastic cooking, loads of belgium and german beers on draught, plus four or so real ales, modernish interior but with a great sense of humour, we stayed and thought the rooms were the best weve stayed in,widescreen tvs and we had a pink cromed bath that looked like a custom car......wicked

Locals don't like the change in name from Arms to Angel, but be in no doubt the food is great but not if you are a pie and chips lover, beers are not run of the mill and good. Decor is kind of Conran / modern London restaurant and nothing like the outside. All in all, this pub is in the top few pubs for good food and friendly service in the area.
