The Craven Arms is situated on the corner of a couple of backstreets. There are a few other pubs within sight that are better options. This one did have Marstons Pedigree New World. But the interior could do with a makeover, with seating falling apart and a gents toilet you had to wade through to get to pee. Although that's probably more of a reflection of the regulars' aim than the quality of the pub. Friendly landlord though.

Reopened under new management.Had a lick of paint .Three real ales on .

Craig left January 2013- pub is currently closed

Sarah Hughes Ruby - plus point. 3.25 a pint - very definite minus. Nice local - how come there are so many real ale pubs within such a short distance? I could happily visit here every night.
|
Quality and quantity of the ales has taken a slide down hill in the last 6 months. Last night only two were on - Spitfire which by common consensus was of poor standard and didnt even taste like the real thing. The other was bog standard Flowers. However both ran out well before closing time and no attempt to replace them.A pub with no beer! Sadly it is not the first time this has happened and seem to be a fairly regular occurrence, The "Landlord" seems to have lost interest in real ale and therefore its inclusion in the CAMRA good beer guide should be rescinded..

A good local,up to five real ales on, Sarah Hughes mild plus two regular bitters and two changing. Just finish a makeover, now looks neat and clean. Good outside area for smokers.

With Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild on as regular, the Craven Arms is always worth a visit. Not too too keen on the interior and the punters so I don't session here. Beer is boss though.

Not a bad pub overall. As a Mild drinker I don't frequent this pub often due to it not having Mild (No, I don't consider Sarah Hughes a Mild) but now they have Guinness Red I have a drink that I really do enjoy. Though a non-smoker myself, I think they cater for smokers very well with their outdoor facilities. Landlord excellent. Definitely recommended.

Good selection of beers on offer - including Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild! Friendly pub with pleasant outdoor seating area for summer / smokers.
|
Great friendly lively pub. The night I was there I saw a superb band with the best accordionist ever plus violin etc - they were called something like Dicey Reilly. Get them back!!!!
|
has a varied range of real ales and the quality is usually good.decor is being improved.has live music on a Sunday night.
|
Visited on a recent crawl and found it had a nice local feel about it. Enjoyed my half in the outside seating area.
|
Good selection of ale's and worth popping in to if you're out on a crawl. Can get busy at weekends and the music can be quite loud which is annoying. Not many seats about so its difficult to relax here and enjoy your pint.

this pub has a lot of competition, there are 5 in the immediate vicinity, crowned with the best cov pub around the Nursery Tavern, we visited recently and found the pool table eats up a massive drinking area, Very shoddy carpet, chewing gum and nub end burns, Excellent pint of real ale, all the standard beer available, busy and friendly, but dirty and drab, would only visit on a crawl.

Good, friendly pub. Was told that the beer now very well kept under enthusisastic new management. Locals and regulars seemed very friendly on a first visit, most drinking the ales, not a lager crowd, very mixed age range as well - great to see as a lot of pubs in Coventry are either hostile to non-locals or just interested in flogging as much lager as possible. Pool, live music on sunday, quiz night thursday. Overall, really top notch local boozer

The pub has certainly improved since my last visit. The beers are all in good condition, but beware the weakest of these, at 5%, is a beer to be drunk in moderation!
The pub was warm, friendly and welcoming last night (26/11/05) with a crackling open log-fire, giving well-earned respite from the biting cold this weekend. The locals are very sociable here and if for any reason you happen to be in the pub on your own, you will not be for long. I don't remember why I only gave six marks for the pub last time, it's now worthy of 9. Had there been a mild or a 3.5-3.9% session beer available I'd have given it 10/10! Great pub.

Under new management & improving . More choice of real ales eg Abbott. Dogs bollocks, Spitfire ,Sarah Hughes. Also starting to look cleaner and better kept.
|
Re last comments. Only 1 choice of guest ale which tasted poor as did the Flowers bitter.Loads of young kids around the pool table.Expensive considering the dowdy surroundings (despite walls being painted bright white!) Not an uplifting experience .
|
Excellent selection of ales with a local social climate that made one feel right at home.

I love this pub, its a lovely welcoming pub and as a woman i feel I can go in on my own or with a party of girlfriends. The bar staff are always friendly and eager to serve you. The landlord and lady are very welcoming and make it a nice place to be, where you can have a chat with the landlord and lady. The open fire has a cosy look and is used, not just for show. The Sunday dinners are just lovely, real meat everything cooked and prepared on site. The live music on a Sunday evening is great and a lot of local bands do the gig. Its just a great pub to start your weekend off with or a cosy quiet drink in the week.

A nice little pub. Very cosy at the back due to the great open fire which is toasty in winter. Good ale selection, including landlord along with your regular beers. Pool table and small outdoor seating area. Live music on weekends - can get very busy.

Live music on Sunday night too

A friendly pub with a real open fire (in use when I visited on 29/10/2003 when up from London). Ruby red patterned carpet, upholstered seating and curtains make for a cosy atmosphere.
Up to three cask-conditioned ales on handpump. Flowers Original and Taylor's Landlord are regular, whilst a third beer changes regularly.
Background music (Kiss 96.2FM) kept down to a level which allows comfortable conversation, but there's live music on Sunday evenings. A raised games area provides a pool table and dartboard.
Breakfast served Monday to Friday @ 3.50; Sunday lunch served in two sizes: 4 and 5.50.
A pleasant pub, worth a visit as part of the "Craven Street Crawl".
