Update - Being refurbished as, a pub! Looks like a fair bit of money is been spent too.

Currently closed and the builders in. Probably going to be a Tesco Metro... as there is already a Spar next door and a Co-op and a Morrison's opposite.

Hummm..... The last three posters are all showing as having only ever posted one review.....

A friendly welcome is always on tap when you walk through the Franklin doors! The landlady takes interest in all her customers- whether they are young or old, knowing most by name as well as what they drink! How a proper pub should be run. All staff are cheery and efficient. Public areas are clean and tidy; loo paper and soap rarely run short. The menu is varied and good value. Children friendly, if supervised! Sporting events are well catered for with big screen TVs and Sky, pool table and dart boards, in addition to varied functions including Motown nights, karaoke, Rockabilly disco and live bands. Private functions are also catered for, and good times are generally had by all. The pub is spacious inside, wheelchair friendly, and has a small outdoor seating area should you wish to catch a bit of sun and watch the world go by. Thoroughly recommended. Would have got a 10 if it had a garden, and a log fire!

I have used this pub for the past few years. It is a brilliant locals pub with some great attributes - SKY, good food menu, darts and pool room. It accommodates a good mixture of customers ranging in age from 18 to 80 years old. The Motown nights are great as well as the Rock and Roll which they have on the last Sunday of the month between 4 and 8. Visit the pub and judge for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

It's a large pub so if you want to have a nice quiet drink then there's plenty of seating for you and if you are meeting a few friends then you'll still find a seat. They have 3D TVs for the football, a jukebox and a pool area (so you don't knock anyone's drink over, haha) The food is unbelievable, I recommend the pie and the all day breakfast burger, IT'S MASSIVE!!! Friendly staff and a great landlady, they will always say hello and make you feel very welcome. I recommend it to anyone.

A complete turn around, great food, entertainment, pool, sky, great staff and a great place for a starting point on a good night out. Well recommended A1

Probably the worst pub in Brighton...if you are racist enjoy doing dubious powders in their toilets ( male bar staff turn a blind eye ) and believe that Mcdonalds and Fosters are the height of sophistication then this is the pub for you....hey even the fish on their microwaved menu sport tattoos. 2 out of 10

Used to visit quite often back in the day, never had a problem in there, quite a popular place with the local scoombers, can be a bit intimidating at times though, but there are worast pubs in Brighton to visit.
|
Not a great. food is ok, drink is alright but boring selection the regulars do seem to be quite rough
|
Estate pub on the main road is a fair description, but its not too bad actually.
The landlord knows what he is doing and because it is on the main road, there is a good mix of people throughout the day. There are two pool tables and the place is clean and welcoming. The seating arrangements are such that you can have some of your own space if you need it.
If I lived in the area, I would have no problem using it now and again.

Chavvy chain pub... not the worst in the world, but certainly not 7.5/10... No ale.
I'd give it 3/10

CHAV CHAV CHAV PUB.... DO NOT GO IN HERE...... YOU WILL LEAVE BLEEDING..... WAS ONCE A GREAT IRISH BAR WITH GOOD CRAIC.... BUT SINCE THE MOULSECOMBERS TOOK OVER , YOU DO NOT WANT TO DRINK IN HERE.

this is a nice friendly pub. the staff and especially the landlady are exceptionaly nice.the food is great. the motown evenings are exellent altho busy. the atmosphere is wonderful i had a great night
|
Chavs' pub, simple as that. The refurbishment was welcome, and the barstaff are smart and reasonably efficient. But the atmosphere is hostile, the beer is dull, and baseball caps and tracksuits are everywhere. Miserable.

Great pub for professional mourners - thanks to the crem up the road, you get a lot of wakes in here. Must say, the food's better than the normal menu on these days.

this is a great boozer - it may well have recently been made into a chain, but its still got the atmosphere, good cheap food, and its cheaper than most of yer trendy town bars

The recent refurbishment has greatly improved this pub's decor, but it's still really a local lads' soccer pub.

if you haven't been yet don't bother. This is what gives pub food a bad reputation. It's a typical tacky theamed chain pub, blokes in imitation burberry etc

Great pub & friendly staff, very informal atmosphere, it's like home from home! (Maybe I spend a bit too much time down there!)
