The best pint of Guinness I have tasted in a very long time! What more can I say?
Possibly the best pub in Malvern. They had 14 handpumps and 2 ciders on when i visited. Lots of nooks and crannies to sit and hide in with 2 gardens. Very popular pub and as we had warm evenings the gardens were full but the pub inisde was very comfortable. Beers i had ranged from £2.09 - £3.20. The only downside was a rouge dog came in sniffing around and peed on a post next to where i was sitting, and then went into the back garden. When he came back into the pub he was dribbling pee allover the wooden floors. They did say they were aware of this dog and said it would be cleaned up. It was. This is no reason to not go back.

Another fine session last night, great welcome, efficient staff and as always superb choice of seasonal and local ales.
This is a nice pub. Full of charm and character. It has the feel of a nice country pub and being on the edge of Malvern Link common helps that atmosphere. Good selection of beer, nice people and quite often busy so they must be doing something right.
Best pub in the area. Amazing range of beers, Three Tuns Stout on over the weekend, stunning. Food, as always is top notch. Can't fault the pub apart from the smokers outside. Be great to sit in the fresh air sometimes but no chance here, inside is dark and womb like, outside a scene from Dante's Inferno!! Don't let that put you off though, still an 8 out of 10 pub.
I've been coming to this pub ever since i was old enough to drink, it used to be a bikers pub and had a jukebox and pool table and the restaurant part was a room where bands played regularly, sadly all this was done away with along time ago BUT it is still a cracking pub.

Popped in last weekend, just as good as ever. Nice log fire going. Dragon's Blood was drinking well.
It was country walking magazine that pointed this pub out to me - coming in the top 10 walkers pubs in britain. I will never, ever drive past this place this again. Everything you could want in a pub. I only wished that I lived close enough that it could be my local and I could try all the different things they have to choose from. A real find.
Lively, friendly, well run, busy pub. Superb range of beers. Bathams is my favourite but tried Otter too. Food good and more reasonably priced than the beer. Plenty of dogs but fewer children.
One of the best pubs we've ever visited. Friendly, excellent range of beers (nice to try St George's beer, which was new to me), all well-kept and competitively priced. We reckoned they had 14 on. Absolutely sublime food, good value and an interesting menu. Dining room separate from bar areas which is a big plus. Varied clientele, no music, just a place to go few a few beers and have a chat and enjoy the atmosphere. A real find for us and highly recommended.
Certainly the busuiest pub in Malvern and it deserves to me. Zero tolerance policy on any anti social behaviour including an enforced swearing ban so mind your language. The food is nice and the landlord really does no how to run a pub. Pity there arent more landlords like him. Nice place to pop in and get together with some mates and a nice area of Malvern overlooking the Link common. This is not a pub for binger drinkers. It is a pub for a civilised drink and to meet up with people!
Still excellent - 6 regular and 8 guest beers plus 2 ciders on handpump. Prices start at 2.70 and go up to 3.20 (Bathams bitter). Lage outdoor covered area. Pretty busy on Wednesday when we visited about 1400 so they must be doing something right! Well worth a visit.
Proper boozer, well over a dozen different ales on the handles, a varied and changing clientele. Excellent atmosphere with quick service as well! I understand they do food as well, but didn't try it as it's in a separate area from the rambling and interestig bar.
Pleasant enough rambling kind of pub with views from the beer garden at the front. Had a pint of St.George's Ale from the Worcester Brewery which was a pretty good pint. Seems a bit more family/dog/walker orientated than most. Another place with a no swearing policy (strictly applied apparently - at least that would keep Roy Chubby Brown out of the place).

About 200yds from my in-laws; I like visiting my in-laws! This place used to be a dive (c30 years ago!), now almost the perfect pub - with Bathams! Also excellent food & family & dog friendly.
Excellent place - I'd love to live closer to this pub! 16 or so beers on all at reasonable prices apart from the Bathams Bitter at 3.10 - the brewery apparently won't supply them directly thus making it rather ching. Efficient service even though it was pretty packed on late Saturday afternoon.
Called in here whilst on a train based bub crawl of the area. First visit and fully endorse what has been said here. Great selection of well kept beers and we arrived just as the complimentary sandwiches were put out...what a great touch.
Called in here when I was in the area not long ago, after reading about it in the good beer guide. I was very impressed. The staff were friendly, the beer was perfect. It certainly deserves its pub of the year title. The views of the Malvern Hills which dominate the landscape behind the pub are spectacular. I loved the no swearing policy too, it's a shame they don't have them in more pubs.

If there was a pub you have to visit before your liver gives out, this place might be it. I counted about 13 handpumps, serving high quality ale. Bathams bitter being the pick, although this was the chingy-est at 3 a pint, where the others were from 2.35 upwards. Has the branding of a Banks's house but has been altered as its free of tie,woo hoo. Massively friendly welcome although the young barmaid broke the no swearing rule after dropping a bottle top into someones drink,TUT TUT!!!! Grub was good and fairly priced. A must visit and not far from Malvern Link station.
For the record the beers on my visit in January- St Georges-Friar Tuck,Charger,Dragons Blood. Bathams-Bitter Wells- Bomardier Sharps-Doombar Jennings-Cumberland Banks-Bitter Festival-Xmas ale Woods-Shropshire Lad Enville-Old Porter Cottage-Underdogs ???-Spinning Top
2 ciders-Westons 1st Quality and Thatchers Heritage.
WELL DONE.
was here last week for first time, was well impressed! Only 15 mins walk from Great Malvern centre. really busy even tho it was early in the week,16 handpulls, 3 of which had cider on. Good support for local breweries, all the beers i tried were in excellent nick. Just one disappointment- no dark beer? Surely they can manage one out of 13?!
16 different beers on draught and some real cider. Always packed with young and old alike which has to be a good sign. CAMRA pub of the year.
An excellent pub, well worth a visit: good range of guest ales and great food, a step above the average gastro pub. A series of separate rooms makes for a cosy, warren-like layout. We visited during the Christmas break so the place was very busy with a mixed crowd of young and old. Service was amiable and professional.
nice ale shite food! the cheff yoused to work at pizza fiesta that says it all!
not enough good comments!
Probably visit this excellent pub 2-3 times a month. Always a new real ale to try; decent value, pleasant staff
brilliant pub not sure what the first comment is about aS i have never waited more than half a minute to be served. staff are very pleasant, alot of chararcters about, nice atmosphere and i do have to say the name serena because she makes my evenings!

Sadly this pub has gone downhill in the last year.
Beer quality not so high and the atmosphere is no longer welcoming. Staff seem disinterested in serving.
Hope it reverts back to what it was very soon
Malvern's best pub. Admittedly there isn't much competition, but this is a very nice boozer with a constantly changing menu of real ales and excellent service.
Great place, agree with everything said - heaving on weekend nights, yet somehow you still get a seat, served quickly, and with great ales and ciders. Cosy with lots of differnt bits, and infinitely better than the Morgan round the corner. Two gardens as well. Lookout for the amsuing disclaimer about the low ceiling beams on the blackboard by the entrance.
I visited this pub on my own when working in the Malvern area recently and have to agree with all the comments made. This is a suberb ,welcoming pub with bags of quirky character & atmosphere.A gem !
Great pub, impressed when I visited. Exemplary array of drinks on offer: a wide selection of real ales, cloudy cider and a pleasing collection of fine single malt whiskies. I went in summer when the outside heaters were on, very pleasant atmosphere. Recommended if you are in the area.
Well, like they say. Easily the best pub now the clientele and landlord has changed. Duncan runs a brilliant pub, stands no trouble and has big friendly men on hand to keep it that way. There are guest beers and always real ales which keeps it fresh. The regulars are friendly, children are not encouraged and there are outside heaters. Party everynight at the Nags. Clean toilets, hundreds of helpful bar staff so no waiting. just try it if you arent sure, you wont want to leave, at least not until they turn the heating off at closing time.

This is easily the best pub in Malvern. It is a magnet for real ale fans. The bar staff are very friendly and the food is excellent. They cook the food properly so it can take a little time (you are warned when you order). The place is really popular so if you want food get there early! They start serving food at 6.30 and usually there are plenty of people waiting!
I do wonder wy more pubs don't do the same.

this pub is wicked, they have a variety of drinks, nice atmospere, friendly staff, but the jukebox could be better, also not able to hear the music very well.
ema - 24 Jun 2004 10:46 |
Easily the best pub for miles. friendly staff and locals, great beer and excellent food. Idiosynchatic layout, free newspapers, books and games. Also the best pub jukebox for miles, although you have to sit underneath it to hear!!

This is a terrific pub. I have told so many people about this pub! You just have to get your arse in here and ask yourself " why more pubs don't do the same ...... good beer and no lager yobs!!!
Top boozer for real ales and good atmosphere. Plenty of helpful and lively young staff and they also have a very good restaurant type room that does excellent food in the evenings. Pubby type food at lunchtimes. If you are a woosy type lager drinker, don't bother going, the pub would be wasted on you.
