It's a shame to hear this place has gone. I used to work locally in Acton and used the place from time to time.
I guess the fact that it was always empty meant that it wasn't really a viable business. I watched the England v France game here in the 2012 World Cup and even for a game of this size the place was empty and we had no difficulty getting a seat by the big screen even though we only arrived just before kick off.
This pub is away from the high street in the more residential part of Acton therefore would not get the passing trade that the high street pubs benefit from and therefore, unfortunately didn't get enough footfall :(

Went past here yesterday and demolition is in progress.
|
This pub is now closed.
|
visited recently and it seemed a friendly enough locals kind of pub. barmaid was very pleasant. unfortunately only Tetleys smooth and no cask ales.
|
Very Friendly and welcoming Pub,just 200 yards up from Acton town tube Station,
I was made to feel wery welcome by two friendly Barmaids who were also very attentive.
This pub has a lot of facilities inside it but looks very deceptive from the street,it is shaped like a triangle, and the front bar,you enter in first is the smallest, this has a central bar and several plasma/LCD TVs showing the football etc,
Moving down the central corridor,Which houses the Pub's toilets and private areas, such as the Offices, there is a huge back Bar,complete with upstairs Mezzeniene area containing 3 Pool Tables and 3 Dartboards,on the ground floor these is an extensive Dining Area and a large Bar -which I was informed is never used as the Mill Hill does'nt seem to get busy enough to justify opening the Back Bar-All drinks and food have to be bought/ordered from the front Central bar !.
Also in the Back Bar there are more Plasma/LCD TVs showing the football etc,and there is also a Latest Touchscreen Digital Jukebox where you can play any top 40 hit going right back as far as 1952(2 Consoles, one in each Bar).
In the very back there is also an attractive Beer garden complete with outdoor TV.
This was my first visit to the Mill Hill, and for a such a nice friendly pub with so much going for it ,I have felt it was under patronised,Let's try and bring peope back to the Mill Hill-(Turn right out of Acton Town tube station, the Mill Hill is 200 yards up on ste same side of the road-Also the E3 Bus route passes the Door !).
That said maybe more people Will now frequent the Mill Hill,I'll certainly be Back.

Have not been in for 4 years but went in on my last visit to Acton. Long gone are the days where all my Australian friends would celebrate the end of the week with beer and pool on a Friday.
Was very quiet, a few guys watching football and that was about it. Beer is still the same, food was nice it just seemed strange to see it so quiet!
|
This is our local pub and we love it. It's fun to watch the crazy Greek(?) chef serving up good food and if you want to engage in banter about the abundant sport on the TVs, there's every opportunity to do that. The manager is on the ball and the place is generally good no matter what mood you're in. In this strangely shaped pub there's a beer garden, pool tables, darts, music, sport and good clientele. On the downside there are no cask ales here and the service could be slightly better when certain Eastern European women are behind the bar. But apart from that, it's mostly good!

The barmaid was friendly enough when she finally made an appearance and I could get used to paying 2.80 for a pint of Guinness. There are a couple of plasma screens and the pub has Sky Sports.
I have to agree that there are better pubs in the area.
|
It used to be my favorite pub, the stuff used to be friendly, the manager was great! now... i can't believe what happened to this place... it used to be absolutely packed in the evenings even during the week... now it's just empty and boring...

Average pub really, average in the pejorative sense. Average food, average beer, average prices, average decor, average garden. There are better pubs in Acton.
|
They've definitely smartened it a bit since its Mr Q days, but it's still a very average place. Interesting layout in a triangle between two streets: smaller front bar and a long passageway through into a more roomy back bar with pool tables etc., plus a beer garden. I didn't notice any real ale. Didn't have food; it smelt very nice though.

Hey, where'd my review go?
Was in here last Sunday to watch the rugby - the place has had a lick of paint and looks semi-respectable, service was fine (friendly even) and the menu wasn't bad at all.
|
Not a bad pub at all - food is great - beers reasonable and good garden bar!
4 pool tables and plenty room - could speed up bar service mind you
|
Don't even think of getting served here unless you've been a regular for years - the staff simply ignore you. Horrible, horrible, horrible pub.
|
not the best pub in the world absolutly gorgus food though the burgers are out of this world. bar staff extremely rude and think everybody fancies them which is off putting. dont go there for a quiet drink its full of rowdy ausralians
|
this pub is terrible staff are slow and rude and after 9 at the weekend the drunken (mostly australian) customers are thugs with a mission to start a fight with everyone and anyone
|
Really hate this pub. Used to be good but now just full of foul mouthed australians.

chavtastic.

I don't like the patrons of this pub as they get very rowdy and make a lot of noise when they leave. As its on a quiet residential road (mill hill road)it makes it difficult for local residence to have a good night sleep; often waking up to lots of rubbish outside their doorsteps left by the pub's patrons.
I wish the patrons would be more respectful of the residence...

The Mill Hill is a wonderful pub. It gets incredibly busy some nights, especially if there is football or rugby on, but you rarely get any bother. The bar staff are first rate - they've got a keen eye for the queue order and are, without exception, very friendly.
Early afternoon entertainment can be had by sitting at the windows and watching the teachers at the school opposite don their riot gear and drag naughty kids back into school. Not so much of that since the building site went up, but it was always good value to see some little toerag getting a bollocking in public for being a toerag.
The hours have been extended, but the garden has to close at 9pm as a condition of late opening at the weekend. A real shame, this, yuppies are really ruining the good drinking spots in Acton by complaining about the pubs nearby. It'll all be superpubs away from the residential streets before long, the death knell for community drinking.
|
i never really took to this place. feeling of edge to it, not very good beer, just a bit of a waste of time.
|
Cheap Beer, Friendly Service,
My Rating 6/10.
|
Not too bad but can get very rowdy.
|
As said before, a good stop on the way to the Redback. In summer the beer garden was a good spot to rest and kick back a few before heading to where the real action lies. Thanks to my mates on Gunnersbury Lane who introduced this aussie chick to the game.
|
A large and disparate pub. Could easily be the kind of place people travel to (probably en route to the Redback, which no doubt provides much of the weekend custom). I love the way it changes as you walk through the main bar, through the corridor into the pool area. A whole new pub opens up! Good garden too. Quite busy, quite grotty, cool for pool. Food is standard fayre. Drink bottles if you can.

The Mill Hill is probably one of the last pubs in Acton I would recommend. If you want cheap beer there is cheaper, if you want good food there is way better, if you want somewhere that is clean there is totally way cleaner. It is probably (as they say in beer land) the last pub I would recommend to anyone wanting to visit the drinking spots of Acton.

The Mill Hill has to be one of the cheapest pubs i have come accross in London. Fantastic staff and good food.
