The builders are in now. Looks like they're revamping the place. It has planning permission for a small extension, no mention of any change of use, so with luck it should re-open as a pub in the next few weeks.

helen - i didnt actually post the previous comment though i think i know who did! a mischevious little "helper" - but i do agree with the content. the pub should be a good all round community pub and is let down by its reputation which is largely undeserved. we couldn't make a difference and damn near bankrupted ourselves trying - good luck to whoever takes it over next-one clue- give people respect and you get it back for the most part.we enjoyed the time we had there, and dont regret a second!its the best pub in the area for atmosphere, friendliness and humour

we've done our best with this pub but unfortunately have to move on, however i would point out that there are very few "scroats" on the step and the ones there are aremoved on very quickly, the entertainment is well worth a look and the locals are the best around - its a shame that so many people refuse to make up their own minds by visiting the pub and instead make their decsions based on hearsay- if thats your thing phone the local police team, they have only good things to say about the pub now, be brave and make an effort, you can only be surprised!

what u mean who in the right mind would open a barbers shop at this pub, well i have and i have not gone into it blind i think the pub is going to be a success and so will my business, my shop is not actually inside the bar it is attached to the pub, and if people ventured out from there usual places and came down to have a look at the newly decorated lobster, they would actually see what has been done including my shop . maxine

the lively lobster has since gone under new management and has vastley improved. helen and lee the new liscensees have worked hard spendin their money in redecoratin, providin live entertainment which includes colin paul and the persuaders and ub40 tribute band homegrown, kareoke which has 200pound prize money, quiz nights, poker nights, theyve even got a chef in doin food so familys come in with their kids. they have their own football team who organise live bands too such as colin paul. the beer has improved a hell of alot and it has a friendly atmosphere. so we recomend anyone to go and try the lobster its nothing like it used to be

This is now supposed to be under new management but still wouldn't chance it. It still has the usual gang of scroats hanging near the entrance, Would you believe it now has its own Barber Shop at the side? Who in their right mind?

Nice little pub, loads of events geared for the locals with kids days, cabaret, karaoke and the like. Beer not too bad either.

A cross between the Phoenix Club and something off the Cockroft estate.
On the edge of the Racecourse but usually friendly, reasonable beer and plenty of live entertainment.
Bit of a drag if you're not in the car, so it ain't going to be part of a Sale crawl.
Always suffered from having the reputation of being quite rough when it's actually OK
