Lovely Old School pub with lovely cask ales, fantastic 6X and a lovely light Henry's IPA, really taste the diffrence from other pubs. Great setting, like steping back in time. I love my pubs and it made my day going to a gem like this.

We`re only ever down from Manchester to this neck of the woods once or twice a year, but when we are - we always make for The Ivy.
I fell for it the first moment I entered. The unspoiled, unpretentious, rustic, gorgeousness and friendliness are like a perfect parallel universe - but you`ll have to go there to grok the fullness.
Then there`s the food. Don`t be fooled by the reasonable prices and think that your portion will be small - they are generous, hearty and delicious.
Vegetarians - fed up with eating vegetable bloody lasagne and other boring goo in pubs? Then get yourself down to The Ivy for mucho pleasure.
If you live nearbyish and you`re not a regular - Where`s your ****ing head at ?!?

Splendid traditional, thatched, country pub, providing the best of both worlds with good food and excellent ales. Both reasonably priced. Beer is served straight from the barrel which makes a rare and welcome sight. Crackling open fire provides a warm welcome on a chilly day.

Excellent sunday carvery dinner - booking advisable as people are now starting to hear about this hidden treasure!

For the last 8 years at least, the cask ales at the Ivy Inn have been cooled by chiller probes. As a regular of 20 years I don't think I've ever seen the wet towels on the barrels as described by John Button. Perhaps there had been a power cut.
The Ivy is a very special, tradional pub. While it serves excellent home cooked food, it's still very much a drinkers' pub.
