Just reading through my last 'comment' about the Bee. Re the magician - I intended to write 'The waiter told us there had not been a magician there for a long time - maybe almost a year'

Three of us went to The Bee on 29th June 2011, a Wednesday night. Great atmosphere greeted us and we really thought we were in for a great night. However we soon became very dissappointed. Our starters were fine - but the ribeye steak was awful - far too tough especially for the price (19.50) Two of us sent our steak dinners back - which took 'ages' to be returned-and was no better 2nd time around-and ended up not eating it. We didn't try any puddings we just had coffee. The Bee did not charge us for 1 of the steaks or for our 3 coffees - But we still came out with a 100 bill. A very expensive night for a very dissappointing meal. In addition to that the waiter could not stop coughing - and obviously that all went over our dinners too. Luckily we didn't catch his 'cough'. Also, no magician as advertised on their webpage and we were told they had had one for almost a year - so that was a bit of false advertising. Sorry - The Bee got the 'THUMBS DOWN' from us. What a shame

Used the pub regularly, ate there too, and have to say we really like the place. The young staff are all keen - what they lack in age and training they make up for in personality. Food was very good, even when the fed us after the kitchens were supposed to be closed for the evening.
Only fault I can find is that the beer is ridiculously expensive - well over 4 for a Peroni!! Puts a big hole in the wallet if you're there for an ening wth a mate like ine! Otherwise, very very good.

I like the refreshing changes to this pub which I have visited often over the years. Great food nicely presented although it would be better if the portions were more in the range of hearty pub food rather than heading towards nouvelle cuisine proportions.

Cool magician!

LOVE this pub, since it's been taken over you can actually go in without feeling like an alien, the new clientele that drink at this pub make you welcome. The best night to go is on a Monday as there is a great acoustic covers band called 'Farlane', you can eat whole they play aswell as drink, they also bring in a slightly younger crowd which is great for making a monday night less boring.

I would recommend the food all day long, the young chef is very talented.

New decor, new customer base,NEW CHEF,new menu -so I was tempted to try this out on a new blind date!!!
On entering & making our way to the bar we were greeted by bar staff who took our drinks order swiftly and curteously also asking were we dining, taking our name & asking us if we wanted to peruse the menu.
At booking I had asked for a "special" table i.e quiet but it was busy and tables towards the rear of the restaurant were for 4 persons!
Our drinks were taken to our table, were we were seated-the straw seat of my seat had definitely seen better days!!as I promptly disappeared under the table prompting remarks from my date such as 'Hobbit'!!!- I then commented on his hairy feet!!!
After great appetisers, and a great choice of Rioja-the Best arrived -No not a replacement date but the main course-BLADE OF BEEF WITH HORSERADISH RISOTTO & ROASTED RADISHES
I can't praise this dish enough !!tasted like fillet steak but is one of the cheapest & forgotten cuts of meat
I will say, without doubt it IS the way it was cooked that made this dish
I tell everyone about this new find with mixed experiences-Sunday lunch appears to get the most thumbs down with my friends BUT I'd gladly eat there everyday-even when I phoned for clarification on the type of meat used in their receipe, the chef came to the phone
Make up your own mind -I KNOW I HAVE !!! Thank oodness for your arrival!!

We went to the bee for sunday lunch and cant reccommend it enough!
...We loved the decoration as it was a bit quirky and different...For example they served our bread on this little rustic wooden paddle....v cool!
We had the 42 day aged roast beef ,and loved every mouthful....We found the portion size just right, and good value for money....Oooh and the sticky toffee pud is to die for!!!
They had just opened a new dining area aswell, and i have booked it for a friends birthday in a couple of weeks....cant rave about this place enough!....Delicious food, and a great atmosphere too!,...What a little gem!

Based on a recommendation we tried this well known local pub after having had a look at their web site, and the comments here. The bar was buzzing with a mixture of people of all ages, whilst the restaurant was a few tables and chairs in what was a sparsely decorated bar room. The menu looked very appetizing and we ordered the Venison at around 16.00 per course including vegetables. The waiting staff were very attentive and very friendly.
When our meals arrived we were absolutely incredulous at the portion sizes. The venison were slices of meat approximately the size and dimensions of a medium sized pork sausage, the red cabbage portion was twice the size of my thumbnail, the mushroom dumpling was 2/3 size of a golf ball, and the parsnip puree, was tiny measuring about 1/8th of an inch wide by of an inch long. On the plus side the food, what there was of it, was well prepared and very tasty. We complained to the manager who explained that it was a new venture and that they were still experimenting. We were offered a complimentary lemon tart for the dessert, as we had complained, which was delicious.
All in all the food was well cooked but the management need to take a reality check on portion size and whether what they are providing is value for money, which in my view as explained it was not.

I do not like pubs or restaurants which serve huge portions but I would be prepared to give the Bee another chance in the future but only if the portion sizes are increased to make ones meal good value for money.

Brillant Pub! It has thought of everything, they even had a jug of Bloody mary on the bar with fresh celery.. newly taken over with new owners / chef (which I was told came from a brillant pub in Barnes call "The Brown Dog") and is well worth a visit. We went over the weekend and had a lovely lunch. Big pub garden,Kids and Dogs welcome! The food and Service were very good...what more could you ask for!!

THE best pub in the area. Great landlord and the real ales are excellent.
Food is served most of the time, and this is always excellent and well-priced.
Brilliant atmosphere and friendly locals.

Really friendly and with excellent play area for my children. Decent beer (good range), though I always seem to struggle with the Hog Back TEA.

The Bee is a good pub - we used to walk past the terrible Windmill supermarket gastropub shite to the Bee. Much better selection of beers, friendlier staff and it has character. It's a bit out of the way, but the walk just makes the beer taste nicer.

My kind of session pub - a bit run down, but who cares? Really friendly staff. Always excellent beer selection and quality. Bar area usually pretty busy, but lots of room to avoid the smoke. Never a problem in taking beer lovers there for a few.

friendly atmosphere for locals and visitors alike. Slightly tired decor, refreshingly different from the chain franchises. Beer well kept.
