New decor,new customer base,NEW CHEF,new menu -so I was tempted to try this out on a new blind date!!!
On entering & making our way to the bar we were greeted by bar staff who took our drinks order swiftly and curteously also asking were we dining, taking our name & asking us if we wanted to peruse the menu.
At booking I had asked for a "special" table i.e quiet but it was busy and tables towards the rear of the restaurant were for 4 persons!
Our drinks were taken to our table,were we were seated-the straw seat of my seat had definitely seen better days!!as I promptly disappeared under the table prompting remarks from my date such as 'Hobbit'!!!- I then commented on his hairy feet!!!
After great appetisers,and a great choice of Rioja-the Best arrived -No not a replacement date but the main course-BLADE OF BEEF WITH HORSERADISH RISOTTO & ROASTED RADISHES
I can't praise this dish enough !!tasted like fillet steak but is one of the cheapest & forgotten cuts of meat
I will say,without doubt it IS the way it was cooked that made this dish
I tell everyone about this new find with mixed experiences-Sunday lunch appears to get the most thumbs down with my friends BUT I'd gladly eat there everyday-even when I phoned for clarification on the type of meat used in their receipe,the chef came to the phone
