Crown and Sceptre, Uxbridgeback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
This place is now called Whelan's. As I'd not been before, I visited one weekday lunchtime. It is effectively an Irish bar that had a few waifs and strays (including me) populating it. I suspect many stay there for much of the day. It stays open until very late. The two ales were Fuller's London Pride & Whelan's House Ale (from Caledonian). I went for the House Ale, which was on the turn. Very disappointing.

Won't be going again. Wine selection was poor, house only and that was French "mongrel". Wife chose the salmon because it came with new potatoes, they had not troubled the hot water for very long and were inedible. A complaint did not even get an apology. I was a bit miffed as the "specials" just listed 2 choices off the standard menu at list price, a bit of a con.

I can highly recommend The Crown & Sceptre in Uxbridge where you are made feel more than welcome, with an atmosphere to match. The food is cooked fresh and served hot and presented in a professional way. Party, party, party with Karaoke on thursday night.

not very good pub. disco music on a weekend far too loud. beer poor and no taste had quick 1 pint and left will not be back

Fab disco! butters bar staff. LOL

An absolute shithole and an invite for violence. The kind of place you go to once in a blue moon when younger and then when you age, you realise it was absolutely dreadful and you would be better off cutting off your penis with a rusty bread knife.

Used to be a bit ropey haven't been there recently. Saw the tallest girl I have ever seen in there - at least six foot 8

Smashing nights, and The Windows

At the Sceptre they are always trying to provide something fresh and vibrant ensuring that they maintain their reputation as a completely different and unique venue. This obviously starts once you walk in the door with the funky dcor of 60s and 70s iconic retro style furniture and lighting. Having established a long standing reputation for quality club nights such as Back to Old Skool, now in its 8th month, they have aimed to place the venue as thier premier funky fix in town supporting styles like RnB, Funky House, Hip Hop, Break Beat, DnB, Electronica House and Garage which were previously underrepresented. After rebuilding the sound and light system and upgrading the P.A., and under the guidance of Owner Harry Cooper the Sceptre embarked on attracting a young and vibrant croud, This change has worked fantastically with the fans seeing some of the busiest nights in the Crown and Sceptres history. The Crown and Sceptre on a Friday night is unlike any other venue in Uxbridge.

Hello.
Just wanted to add a few few comments about the Crown and Sceptre Pub,
Firstly I DJ there Every Friday night, and would like to invite you down to what I think is a great night. The theme for Friday is Old Skool disco Mix, playing Top RnB Tunes, Funky House, Garage and Old Skool Club. This night really draws in the croud, and has the pub full to the brim, The music is Fantastic and has everbody up and dancing, the Atmosphere is great, there is seldom any trouble in the pud and stands true to the statement its one of the safest pubs in Uxbridge. Saturday Nights are also a great night With DJ Gary playing some top tunes. The pub is open untill 2am giving you the chance to party late into the night, All the staff are friendly and professional and make you feel welcome. I Would like to add that the Negative feed back some Upset Ex-Staff have added is a little far fetched, the drinks served are always fresh and are at competitive prices. John the Manager and Sam the assistant Manager have really turned the pub around over the last year bringing with them new ideas and and plans. I am honest guy and wanted to add these comments as I feel the pub as had some bad press and I wanted to put the record straight.
We have also introduced other theme nights such as Tuesday night, Student night over deals such as Fosters for only 200 a pint and WKD at 1.65, these are great deals and not offerd at any of the other pubs. We also have a disco on a Thursday night which we are calling a revival night playing old feel good tunes, both these venues start at 8:30 Late.
So I hope to see you all soon at the Crown and Sceptre for what is a truly great night.
Cheers
DJ Baz.

This pub USED to be a real laugh. All staff were great fun to work with. Ever since the latest management has taken over, all ive heard is things have gone down hill and they found the new mangement to be rude!! I found this too!! Gary, the DJ had been there for years so fair play to him. (He's a really lovely guy). Bar staff have no oringinal staff lasting over a year. Just goes to show how well they look after there EFFICIENT staff. As for door staff, theres only one still there from before. I don't know why he bothers. He doesn't get appreciated enough.

The Crown and Sceptre!!!
Hello to all,
My name is John Halstead, governor of The Crown and Sceptre. I have been running the pub for a year and thought it was time to introduce myself to all.
Why should you come to The Crown and Sceptre?
Staff: Staff here are, well just the best, friendly, welcoming, smart and most important efficient, so no hanging around a crowded bar waiting to be served.
Top DJs: Come to The Crown and Sceptre on a Fri/Sat night and you will have the experience of top DJ Fat Boy Fat Gazza, former capital road show DJ, playing past and present top tunes and always up for a laugh. A great party MC!!! We are also lucky to have a guest DJ, Ice Baz who plays top RMB tunes and take requests. Ice Baz does our karaoke on the last Sunday of each month, thats when he turns into Ronan Keating (ah bless). Weekend nights are party nights! Come along and join in the fun, open till 2am Fri-Sat. (Dont forget to look out for our theme nights)
Products: We sell: Draught Carlsberg, Fosters, Guinness, John Smiths 1664, Stella, Strongbow and we have draught Budweiser. We also sell one ale, Directors, yes its the best on the High Street, seasoned ale drinkers come here especially for it. All spirits are 35 ml shots and our wine is probably the best house to come out of France (Marcel Hubert). Our dry wine has a jammy fruit taste with a smooth finish. We also have a bit of Irish in our Fridges, Macners Vintage Cider- simple the best.
Door Supervisors: The guys are friendly but professional and thanks to them we are known as the safest bar in Uxbridge High Street. Two of my door staff our S019 trained and from experience have good knowledge of who the troublemakers are.
Whats new: Since I have taken over, the pub has replaced its carpets and has a clean, friendly atmosphere.
Coming to The Crown and Sceptre is Harrys Fish Restaurant which will be located in our function room restaurant. We will sell traditional fish and chips from Tues to Sat 12-3 and Fri Sat 6-9.30, take away menu will be available. Harrys fish and chips will be the best you have eaten, opening soon!
Available hire: our function room is available for hire Mon-Sat. Ideal for Business Meetings, or Day training courses. We also cater for parties and are available for private parties on Sunday.
So to finish we have a lot to offer, our door policy is strict at weekends i.e. over 21s but good kids with ID are welcome from 18, smart dress, no trainers after 10.30 Fri-Sat. Remember to bring ID or you will be refused (18-23) We run a safe fun pub so what are you waiting for. Id like to thank you for taking time out to read this and hope to see you all soon.
All the best John.

They won't let you in until your 21- bit of an anti-climax really because its just like the Ostler (round the corner) except the average age of clientelle is about 40. Good if your trying to find yourself a M.I.L.F I spose?..
