Every town needs a Wetherspoons and Newquay is no exception.
It is just about the most average Wetherspoons I have been in. Fairly normal in every way. Not great for disabled access though.

Whilst we didn't see much of Newquay, I did pop in the local Wetherspoons. It's a large place. But as with many, it seems to suffer with failure to keep tables cleared. Nearly every table had glasses and left over food on them. They lost business from a large group of 10 as they couldn't stand the smell of some soiled nappies in the one corner. That probably says a lot about the clientele too. The ale selection was reasonable - Exmoor Fox & Hound Dog, Sixpoint Make It Rain, Cornish Crown St Michael's, Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best, Keltek KIng & Harbour India Pale Ale. The cider was Black Dragon. Has a nice patio at the front overlooking the busy road.

A nice big W/spoons.
went in about 4pm, nice range of beers ( as usual for a spoons)
had some ok fish and chips, staff were chatting to the customers.
There may be better pubs in Newquay, but if you can get the same brews here, and cheaper, why bother.
I can do without anchors , ships lanterns, and pictures of long John Silver.

Not a lot on offer for this big place, but the outside area makes up for it. The manager runs a tight ship. Magik 4% guest ale.

Had a four night stay in Newquay at the end of March 2012. This is a really nice pub for real ale and food at really cheap prices I made full use of their selection of real ales during their month long beer festival.

Made this our "local" for a 5 night stay in Newquay early December 2011. Excellent breakfast. Friendly and helpful service. Good range of local beers and Christmas ales generally well kept. Staff seemed as though they enjoyed their job. Nice eye contact and welcoming smiles. Special mention to Marc who seemed to make extra effort.

went in mid-week october soon got served with a pint of abbot which was a ok pint.pub up a few steps at front large outdoor front of pub.was quiet in pub just like the town mid-week offr season
|
Went in this pub a couple of times on a recent visit to cornwall, the staff were friendly enough and service was quick, the real ales were well priced compared to the towns other pubs abd were well kept, the food was standard wetherspoon fare, all in all not a bad place for a quick pint and bite.

Called in a few times. Good price on drinks. Door staff not very friendly. You cant take your drink outside on a warm evening after 11pm. Meals very poor for a weather spoons. No disabled access so dont bother if you cant climb the ten steep steps to the main door. Will serve you at last orders if your lucky ! then five minute latter want you to finish your drink and clear off, Not a very friendly place. The licences are on the left hand side of the bar. Use it for your needs if you want and look happy about it, because the staff aint. Some staff look like they could do with a good wash.

Generic Wetherspoons establishment. Beer was good. Food was adequate although bordering on the luke warm side...
|
Dropped in for a quick pint. Tidy inside and beer reasonably well kept.
|
Fairly standard wetherspoons but a good range of real ales at the usual low prices, so is understandably popular.

Avoid in the summer when it is taken over by the stag and hen crowd (quite disconcerting seeing the older generation trying to enjoy their meals and then seeing a couple of stag and hen parties coming in and "boat racing" jugs of cocktails). Also, the music tends to crank up fairly early on. Another pub tempting the the younger crowd for drinks whilst at the same time enticing diners - not always a good mix! Fine outside the main season though and the themed nights are very good.
|
ales great, food average, service slow, about what you'd expect from a busy spoons, I thought the staff tried very hard to serve customers in turn which isn't allways the case in these places, went in for breakfast a couple of times, and seemed to wait ages, overall much what you'd expect from a busy spoons
|
Understaffed but efficient bar staff need more support as service can be quite slow. Tables are left stacked up with empty food plates and glasses. One guest ale was cloudy and undrinkable, the other was rather flat and uninspiring. One of the ports of call for the many stag and hen parties. A pub best avoided during busy times.

Nothing special to say about this one. Typical "spoons" pub. Lots of the younger set there. Had Otter Bright that was OK I suppose. Wouldn't rush back.
|
A superb 'spoons, full of a younger set of surfers. The Towan has an open airy feel to it and tends to have a variety of local cornish micro brewery beers, I will not get down here again until early July.
|
Not the greatest Wetherspoons, with limited real ale, although that perhaps reflects the clientele who seem more lager orientated. Beer was OK and cheap, but nothing special.
|
Located opposite of Griffin so you have 2 options if one is over crowded. A Wetherspoon's pub. Good food, and ales OK and cheap (around 2 pounds a pint).
|
t's ok, heaving in summer with the wannabee surfer crowd getting paralytic on relatively cheap beer - - in winter is it empty and cavernous with a decent selction of seating and the chance for a game of pool.

i visit the towan blystra last thursday while on holiday and it has to be one of the worst wetherspoons i had visited!i went to the bar to order a pint of skinners moonshine which i was told was off as they were cleaning the pipes!i then asked for a pint of exmoor 25th anniversary ale it was far to cold and the taste was not good at all!i then asked for a menu but they imformed me that they had run out of food on a thursday afternoon!and to top it off i order a coke for my girlfriend and when the barmaid came back she said sorry it off!a complete joke and a waste of time.i think they should take a leaf out of the book of the wetherspoons in truro which is great for food and real ale.

This is a nice place for a good meal, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly. I never noticed much of a problem of rowdiness, although I was not there in the summer. The slection is varied, and it has a bit more character than some in the chain.
|
smelled of sweat, hostile atmosphere, although service was quick and drink was cheaper than surrounding pubs. too many roaming gangs of youths....

Great food, cheap ale. Not one sweaty surfer in sight either.
|
Excellent Wetherspoons with above average food and cheap beer with the emphasis on local ales rather than the usual Greene King or Theakstons. Usually two or three Skinners beers on offer, cheaper and much better kept than their own Pub down the road. And close to the beach for the thirsty surfer or the father/husband who's just ' nipped off to buy a newspaper'!
|
Very reasonable pub, and perhaps livelier than your average Wetherspoons due to being in Newquay. I got a round for 8 people for less than 15, and that included several normally pricey Belgian Leffes. The lack of music doesn't stop it from being rowdy, and the sign for the toilets was also in Cornish, which was a first.
|
This is one of the best Wetherspoon pubs in the group ! its prices are great with Stella under 2.00. The customers are the type of person to be seen with ! This is a must for any REAL party ananimal !!!!
