Not bad for a spoons certainly a lot better than the glorified crèche that is the spoons in gormless sorry gorleston

The JC is a typical Wetherspoons, maybe even one of the better ones, fine if you like them.
However, with the Stanford and the Triangle selling tip-top Green Jack ales, I've never felt the need to be a regular here when in Lowestoft.
Incidentally, my last post consisted of the final words of the anti-hero in "Apocalypse Now", based on Joseph Conrad's "Heart Of Darkness".
(I trust that fugglehops will take my sympathy as not overly ironic.)

All posts - with the exception of the last incomprehensible one - confirm this as a fine establishment, which is illustrated by the large levels of patrons.
The best and busiest in town, with well kept beer and good food. Service is efficient and management have a firm hand on things.

"...the horror...the horror."

Choice of beers were poor on this visit. All the bland regular ales were on, but only one guest, Woodfordes Bure Gold.

Time to kill before our train back on Sunday morning so we had a quick pint in this large 'spoons opposite the station.
At 10.50am it was already packed , most of the tables taken up with diners who were no doubt cashing in on the cheap breakfasts.
10 hand pumps with 7 ales on, I had a pint of Halloween inspired Boo @ 5.2% from St Peters.
Nice spoons, well kept with tables cleared regularly even though it was busy.

Had a nice pint of Milestone's Little John and Wickwar's Falling Star. Still good service and a pleasant atmosphere.

I'm sure I counted ten handpumps with at least eight in use. Goff's Lancer and Joseph Conrad's Skimmer was in good condition, but disappointed when the barman tried to pour a pint of Gone Fishing's ESB which obviously was not fit for purpose.
Although busy lunchtime the food was served in good time. One of the better lit Spoons pub.

Pretty good pub, good range of beer and the food is of a high standard. The only drawback is the location of the toilets, upstairs in another bar which on our visits was closed or hosting what seemed to be private parties.

This is JD's first establishment in the town and is right opposite Lowestoft station, it opened in July 2013, my visit is based on the weekend before Christmas 2013 when I had a weekend in Lowestoft.
This pub used to be a large shop selling all sorts for a £1 or something like that.
No ale on the hand pumps due to a flood in the cellar, but there were 16 barrels which were dispensing 6 ales of which 5 were different however most of them were from Adnams.
Large, spacious & pretty busy on an early Friday afternoon, office parties, local drinkers etc.
Decent 'spoons and worthy of a visit.
