Actually not a bad 'Spoons in an attractive high-ceilinged old building. The Fyne Ales Vital Spark was good, but topped by the James Watt, a beer produced by Strathaven Ales for Wetherspoons. Should've stayed here and not bothered going to Cappielow.

Three months in Greenock?? You poor sod- must have been a serious offence.

Just spent three months in Greenock. Made the pub my local. Every changing range of real ales, well served at Weatherspoon's prices. Food not too bad. Shandychica even enjoyed the Haggis neeps and tatties, but the Scotish pies were her favorite.
Definatly the best pub in town.

Average Spoons with friendly staff; just about your best bet (with the Spiinaker) for Scottish beer other than IPA in the area ! Good Orkney Dark too

I disagree, When you're with a good bunch of mates the James Watt can be a rare night out. I like the place, it can just sometimes get a bit repetitive, with everyone going there constantly.

It's just a Wetherspoons. It's like every other Wetherspoons. But the service is mostly pretty fast, the staff are friendly enough, and the atmosphere is generally convival on a weekend's night.
Due to the low prices, this place is busy as hell at weekends with the pre-club crowd as well as regular drinkers. Food's the same as every other JD's.
Ideal to go to with friends to talk and to meet others, even if you're not moving onto somewhere else.

Went here as Greenock is my home town and was bitterly dissapointed. The old post office has been turned into a very cold diner type pub with no atmosphere and no juke box to liven things up. A nice place for a cheap pint before moving onto somewhere better. Greenock has much better to offer x
