Noooooo!!!! I did a mini pub crawl down the Chiswick high road to Hammersmith yesterday and decided to go slightly of piste (well a short walk down Goldhawk Road)

I haven't set foot in this pub for a few years but fondly remember it as a beer emporium serving multiple ales on both hand pull and gravity along with some interesting kegs.

Fast forward to 2016 and gone are the quirky pictures and board games and l most heart rendingly, anything that resembles a decent beer.

Now an identikit foodie place with only Pride and Deuchers on tap last night. Hardly inspiring. To be fair the pub probably isn't bad and probably takes more money now but for me this pub in its old guide was simply magical and it is now simply mediocre :-(

The Duchess is back. Reopened about a week ago. New management, new décor, new food (hooray). Emphasis on food but a good selection of real ales & trendy lagers too.
Dropped in early evening on its second day and surprised how many people were there. Long may it last.

Sadly it looks as if the Duchess has served her last pint. Currently 'Closed until further notice'

Great pub, very friendly and helpfull land lord, we are over from the USA, have visited over many trips 80 pubs for good cask ale, this pub was really friendly and pleasant atmosphere. I home brew and Tom, landlord gave me several beer taps
Great place and going back tomorrow

A superb pub offering everything one could wish for in a pub; it is my local, so maybe I'm biased! I have been coming here since November 2011 and now visit at least 2-3 times weekly. Fantastic range of ales and ciders at very reasonable prices with the CAMRA and other discounts (£3.10 below 6% £3.60 above 6%). The choice is ever changing and there are regular beer festivals too. A good choice of lagers and craft beers as well. The staff are polite, knowledgeable and friendly. The decor, lighting, space and atmosphere very convivial, certainly different to sister pub The Bree Louise. I don't eat in pubs much, but when I have eaten here, the food has been excellent. Nice sunny beer garden. Close to tube and bus connections. Highly recommended!

Very busy pub on Saturday evening - Standing room only. Excellent range of beer with several on draught and several on gravity - all the draught beers were named after the competing Rugby nations on that day. Had a pint of a gravity beer but it lost it's condition quickly. But hey it's a mini-beer festival so a return visit is a must.

The sister pub to the Bree Louise in Euston, it sells the same nice food and has a great selection of beers which seem to be on constant rotation. The very helpful bar staff told me that it is quite rare for the pub to take delivery of more than one barrel of a beer so there are plenty to choose from. It isn’t only the ales that are worth trying as they have some pretty tidy lagers to boot. Not a cider fan but there was a good selection of those as well. Well worth a visit and discounts on beers for CAMRA members.

Discovered this place a few weeks ago. Stamford Brook tube. Turn left and walk for 5 minutes.
6 ales on draught and 6 on gravity today. Stout/porter festival this month so lots of darkness.
I love cider but shun gimmicky fruit ciders (strawberry, coconut, you’ve seen them). Millwhites Backberry was on offer in addition to a few slightly safe/less interesting Westons and the ubiquitous and, to my taste, vile Two Trees Perry. Fortunately the bar man persuaded me to try the Blackberry and it was a revelation. Real cider with a hint of blackberry, which is a natural partner to apple.
Also tried the Moncado Brewery Notting Hill Ruby Rye purely because it was a local brew and it was excellent. Rich and full-flavoured without being OTT.
Bar staff and landlady are brilliant. They know their stuff and are enthusiastic about it.
Not eaten there but the pies look great. Never seen this in any other venue, they offer a bar snack of toast and dripping.
Closest to a perfect pub I’ve ever found.

Good choice for a pre-match drink if you're attending a football game at Loftus Road. Not as busy as my first visit just over a year ago. But still enough of an atmosphere. Bar staff are friendly and discounts are offered to those going to the football or to CAMRA members. The majority of the beers are dispensed by gravity. But there are 4/5 on handpull. In addition, there are 9 ciders/perries. The beer selection yesterday was Weltons Sun Stroke, Hepworth Pullman, Acorn Old Moor Porter, Windsor & Eton Canberra & Guardsman, Rudgate Viking, Ascot Oktoberfest, Cotleigh Harrier & Twickenham Autumn Blaze. Ciders were Fosseway Somerset Glory Dry & Somerset Glory Medium, Rathays Old Goat, Millwhites Scrumpy, Dabinett, Rum Cask & Hedgelayer, Parsons Choice Dry & Westons Wyld Wood. As mentioned previously, it's run by the same people as the Bree Louise. I find the Duchess of Cambridge a much nicer pub to have a drink in. Although the location is not as convenient.

First visit to this pub a couple of weeks ago and we were not disappointed - same people who run the Bree Louise so a good range of beers with a couple of brand new breweries featured. Quite a large building just a couple of minutes from Stamford Brook tube station - it has an outside drinking/smoking area and does food as well as the beer and cider. We used this pub before going to the Chelsea game and will probably use it again before QPR. Worth seeking out.

Been here a few times now and its really growing on me. Great beer selection, both draught and bottled, a crazy amount of ciders and very knowledgeable and helpful staff. I've only eaten the bar food but again I've been very impressed. It is quite large and open-plan but, hey, that's the only downside for me for what is otherwise a really good boozer.

Popped in last night to find that they no draught bitter - only mild. Definitely an own goal!

Popped in after a Fullers brewery trip last week. A Titanic Brewery festival was on and a number of excellent beers were on offer. Beer was a good price for the area and the quality was superb. The only downer was that the kitchen closed between 3 and 5 - annoying as we ordered at 3.10. Will be back.

Went here on saturday and thought it was splendid.

3.50 for a pint in this area is about average. The discounted price of 3.00 is great value. Good beer selection, knowledgeable staff. Good food. However last Sunday lunch it was like drinking in a children's playground. Definitely a black mark

Exceptionally good conversation about the place and the beers on offer could be had with the bar staff. Nice range of hoppy beers and browner ales changing day by day. Comfortable to sit, read, drink, be happy, eat, talk...

Sorry bluescrumpy since when has 11 been expensive for 3 pints in London? Andrewv - you should talk to staff/manager on the night - I was in this trade for years and would always refund a lunch not happy customer wasnt happy about. I love this pub - a young couple trying hard to do something different - and doing a bloody good job!

I visited this pub on Sunday just gone (30th October 2011) for Sunday Lunch and a drink. When the food arrived, it was cold. We duly sent it back but the attitude of the waiting staff was more annoyed than apologetic. There was no communication as we waited a further 10 - 20 minutes for a replacement lunch. When that arrived, it was warmer (not hot) so we ate it because we were pretty hungry by this point. The 'seasonal veg' turned out to be a pile of cabbage, mashed potato and overcooked roast potatoes. Suffice to say we felt very hard done by for the 10.50 we'd spent on each meal. Sunday afternoon spoiled. Rip off. I'd have thought a newly opened pub like this would pay more attention to its customers in an effort to bring them back again in the future. We certainly won't be. I've never written a review before but my experience at the Duchess of Cambridge has left me fuming as you can tell.

Paid this place a visit yesterday after seeing the London Drinker advert. Agree about the prices. 11 for 3 pints seemed rather expensive. Whilst the beer & cider range was not as good as the Bree Louise, the interior is far more pleasant and there is more of an emphasis on food. 10 beers and 5 ciders were on, not quite the 16 beers and 11 ciders advertised, but still a realtively decent selection. Beers were Twickenham Original & Strange Brew, Rebellion Red, Dr Bob & Mild, Arbor Beech Blonde, Wychwood Bountiful, Adnams Ghost Ship & Downton Quadhop. Ciders were Thatchers Traditional, Black Rat Medium, Westons Bounds Scrumpy, Thistly Cross Gold & Thistly Cross Ginger. A welcome new addition to this area, which is a bit of a desert for decent pubs. But I'm not sure it yet justifies a trip across town for.
blue_scrumpy - 16 Oct 2011 17:31
errrr dont agree with the above. 3.50 for all ales on when I got there, but 50p for CAMRA, students, emegancy services and military. Also running thier own membership club with 50p off pints
jimmysmith - 14 Oct 2011 17:33
London Drinker has the address at 320 Goldhawk Rd, W6 0XF.
oak_cliff - 12 Oct 2011 18:34
A decent place but the prices for the real ale(served straight from the cask)
are extortionate, either 3.50 or 4.00 according to the beer's ABV.

It is more expensive than it's 'sister' pub the Bree Louise at Euston!
