There's no slacking here, matey.
The Cricketers used to be a RAFA club, sporting a large propeller blade in the front garden. None of that history (nor of any other really,) is apparent in this now pub of a few years standing.
They've got a good enough plan, which keeps the business ticking over throughout the day quite well, what with the decent food and the generally well-kept ales.
You could always still try a shout of "bandits at one o'clock!" I suppose. (People yell sillier things without reproach.)

It has upstairs toilets, but we'll forgive that.

Evan Evan's is rather like Sam Smith's, Shepherd Neame and so on to me, but this is a pleasant pub with good food and a decent garden.
It's another pub in the locality popular with Welsh-speakers.

Good pub worth seeking out. Have been here twice this year whilst working. Evan Evan beers and good food. Very comfortable and relaxed in the front, less so in the rear. Warrior £2.90 and very good it was to.

Called in here while staying in Cardiff for Christmas. A very pleasant experience. A pub on the ground floor of one of the big Victorian houses that appear to line Cathedral Road from one end to the other. A good range of ales from the owners, Evan Evans, and a guest beer from Artisan, who I'd never heard of - a Christmas ale, very tasty. Prices very reasonable, and served by pleasant and efficient staff. What more can you want?

Pleasant pub, looks more like a hotel. 3 beers from Evan Evans. Clearly well kept and worth the walk from town.

I don't get here too often, but always find it very pleasant. Evan Evans BB at £2.50 a pint now, and what's more no need to ask for a top up: very welcome indeed these days.
Rear garden atmosphere mixes with that of Sophia Gardens very well, when a match is on.
The food is a bit aspirational, so the prices are perhaps not unduly high with that in mind. If it keeps those for the beer at sane levels I'm all for it, I suppose.
It's an altogether more relaxing evening than say, the rather rowdy, "pub-industrial" Halfway nearby. Neither do the management seem to bully the young, friendly staff into serving "pints" where even the froth often doesn't quite reach the rim, as appears so at the latter mentioned house. 8/10

Large, open-plan, modern pub near to the cricket ground. Owned by Evan Evans and features their beers plus guests on its 8 handpumps. Prices from 2.55 are very reasonable but the food prices rather high. Well worth the walk from the town centre.
