After a visit to the busy Record Café, I made the short walk across the road to the Sparrow Bier Café. This was equally busy. But I managed to grab a stool at the bar. This is a small single-room bar with a varied ale and cider selection. Ales were Kirkstall Pale Ale, Turning Point Lucid Dream Cookie Cream Stout & Avalon & Fallen Grapevine. One of these soon went and was replaced by Thornbridge Jessamine. Ciders were all very strong - Premium Drinks Cherry Perry & Passion Fruit Perry (both 7.5%), Woodthorpe Hall Rubie Suzie (11%) and Mr Whitehead's Devil's Device (8.4%). Another really decent option in Bradford. Not really a pub, but a varied section of ales and ciders.

Paid my first visit to the Sparrow today. As others have noted, this is a beer café type place. 4 hand pumps at the bar, all of which were on. I had a half of the Robust Porter by Fell, at £1.60 - at £3.20 a pint this is not expensive. However I noticed some of the craft stuff was £6 a pint, so depends on what you are after!
The Robust was pleasant but possibly a bit on the warm side. I think one of the other cask ales was Cascade by Saltaire, and the other two were ones I had not heard of before.
Service was pleasant, and all in all a nice place; I would be happy to go back.

A decent cafe/bar with well kept ales.

Beer range and quality is excellent but it isn't as interesting or comfy as many of the other nearby real ale pubs and it's more expensive as well. In most cities it would be a treasure but for me there are better options in Bradford - try the City Gent next door.

I was up from London on the weekend, to watch Orient at Valley Parade, and popped in here after the game.
This is precisely the sort of place that one wants to escape from when leaving London, and yet here it works really well, helped by the fact that the clientele are noticably less pretentious - and the booze is just a little less expensive.

Great little bar just round corner from City Gent - had well kept Blackjack and Ilkley cask ales + 1 other when there. Has good range of craft ales, nice crowd. Well worth the vist, like to go when less busy.

Fantastic bar serving great real ales, ciders, craft ales and bottles. Friendly with a European café bar feel to the place. Almost perfect!

This has to be the best pub in the city centre. The owners are clearly extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what they are doing and deliver the most interesting cask, keg and bottled beers available. The place is very busy yet relaxed and friendly and attracts people of all ages.

A breath or fresh air in Bradford. Good selection of ales and bottles. Busy but not overly loud. Smart but not pretentious. Would recommend a visit as it's comfortably the best place in that part of town.

Cosmopolitan cafe-bar style that has received much praise nationally. An excellent and ever changing range of hand pulled beers together with continental lagers and 'keg keg' beers from craft brewers. Definitely one to visit if you're in Bradford.

Small place with a wonderful atmosphere. Street cafe style venue that serves a good selection of real ales, mainly local breweries. Interesting beer menus on every table to aid you with your selection. Try it!
