Straighforwards, large pub 5 minutes inland from the quay. Nothing fancy, targeted at drinkers...nothing wrong with that! Wherry and Nelsons Revenge on at £3.10 (August 2019) which was considerably cheaper than other pubs in Wells. Good condition. The other ale was GK Abbot. Friendly mix of tourists and locals. Didn't try the food but it seems like there is an adjacent restaurant.

A rather thin long bar leading to two rooms on the left, the beer is good, the food was o.k. without being particularly good. The service was robotic and cheerless, tho' locals were greeted, perhaps a notice saying"No tourists" would be advisable. Overall i'll frequent the other pubs in Wells, the Edinburgh has lost its former GBG listing and I cannot see a return in the near future.3/10.

I enjoyed this pub, good beer, food looked good too, friendly locals and not too many tourists as its set back from the Quay in the town centre.

Excellent food and beers, a friendly atmosphere with lots of locals and visitors. A really enjoyable place for a good meal and a drink.

Called in here on Saturday after running from the Golden Fleece(a serious deterioration has sent in since my last vist). The beer (Wherry) food and service were all excellent and would not hesitate to return.

The pub's location does it no favours, but the interior is cosy (despite it's size) and welcoming.

basa nmakes a good point in that this is a drinkers Pub. I visited back in May, and had thebest pint that i've had all year, namely a Wherry. Nelson's Revenge and Bass were also both in fine condition. I look forward to goingback again next May.

Ok lets get real about the pubs in Wells.........in my opinion the Edinburgh is the best pub in which to enjoy a pint of real ale. Woodfordes Wherry and Nelsons Revenge or Admirals Reserve are regulars and well kept. At this time of year they have a roaring log fire and a warm welcome. Happy hours on Tues and Wed @ 2.00 pint. The Globe is a glorified wine bar with prices to match. The Crown is a hotel but does have a good real ale brewed by the owners wife and worth a try but it is a hotel and the bar area lacks character and atmosphere. The Bowling Greeen does excellent food and keeps good beer but it is a dining pub not a drinking pub, as long as you know this then ok but you will be surrounded by eaters. The Fleece has the best location of any pub in Wells BUT it is far from the best pub in Wells.
