A lovely setting, just by the little harbour of Porlock Weir, and a pretty looking pub for sure, but the beers were nothing special. Still, a pleasant place to have a drink or 2

This review is for the Ship Inn, Porlock Weir.
Sister pub to the other Ship Inn.
Great beer selection. Open at 10am and I hang my head in shame and state that I had a cup of tea.

Recently awarded a massive no stars out of 5 by the food standards agency on their hygiene inspection; the only pub in Somerset to get such a pathetically low score, so I certainly wouldn't advise anyone to eat there.I can't imagine they pay to much attention to hygiene in other aspects of the running of the pub to I figure the beer will be pretty vile too. Such a pity as it used to be such a good pub in a great setting.

I am reviewing the Bottom Ship which is completely different to Miller's at the Anchor (formerly the Anchor Hotel). Busy on Sunday lunchtime (hardly surprising) but the food came quickly enough (fairly standard sandwich) and we got an outside table immediately. Decent selection of ales namely Exmoor's Ale & Stag, Wills Neck, Tribute & Doom Bar. Big screen showing the England cricketers capitulate.

We walked down to The Bottom Ship which, given the approaching darkness, was a bit of a scary walk but very glad we did. Fire was lovely and warm, this was a winters evening, and the bar staff and locals a friendly lot. The food was good and generous and the beer very good indeed. A lovely pub indeed.

The back bar here is an absolute gem with it's fire going in winter. Most though will only ever see the main bar which is great too. Plenty of outside seating and endless walking country options.
Fantastic 10/10

Stayed here on Sun 8th May. Cracking comfy bar and a good selection of Snozzell and Exmoor beers. Had a hoooge plate of mussels that where ace. Room was a little tired but then, after walking from Minehead, so where we!

The Ship Inn is separate from the Anchor Hotel (now run by Millers antiques family). The Ship is known locally as The Bottom Ship. Good beers as per 'Top Ship'. Food and service all good but does get very busy as a destination at weekends and in the summers when service can get very slow. Great little bar at the back, although seldom open. Main pub has a traditional feel, flagstones and open fire.
