please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Being a Canary Wharf dwelling, real ale bore, I would have to grudgingly admit this place was no where near as bad I was expecting! Life on the Wharf though does cause you to revise your expectations of pubs (they are mainly bars) down significantly. The service was very speedy, they had among others Palm and Budvar on tap which was a welcome surprise. As for expense I was part of a very lavish leaving do, so only bought a couple at the tail end of the night. Taking the North Pole as the best pub around here by a distance, followed by a Ledger, this place would seem to be the most palatable of a whole slew of non-descript bars (Via Fossa being especially grim)

Yet another corporate bore-bar in Canary Wharf, with the usual over-loud music, no real beer and slow service. Extremely expensive, too. Why can't someone in Canary Wharf open a bar whose USP is NO MUSIC?????

Was in for a few drinks last night at this great bar and was so impressed by the service and great prices in such an over-priced part of London. They have a brilliant happy hour menu from 18:02 (clever!!) for two hours and the staff make superb cocktails... I don't get all the comments about slow service it was realy busy for a weds night and they served all four of us cocktails super-fast... must have sorted their staffing out I guess. Anyway - best bar in the area and I should know I've tried them all!

Last week , a friend of mine suggested 1802 instead of our regular bar 38. I must say i was not too keen as the outside area need a bit of work but as soon as I walk in, I enjoyed the atmosphere. The staff were extremelly friendly and were able to make the best Mojitos I have ever had.
The pricing is more that reasonable for the area. My Mojitos was 6.95 and my friend double vodka redbull was 6.50.
Finally a great chain free bar-restaurant in West India Quay.
Me and my friend were back in there 2 days later for lunch and the food was just fantastic.
10 for a main and a glass of wine, you can't go wrong.
IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN ALREADY, RUN TO 1802

This place COULD be a really good spot if it had some decent management and another bar built in the other corner or just simply just hired some capable bar staff.

The wait times ive experienced in this bar are UNBELIEVABLE , sometimes over half hour!!. Ive stopped going to this bar due to this. I do like the layout of the place and the music is good sometimes on Fridays when they have a decent house DJ on. But the service times are the worst ive ever experienced and time is at a premium on Friday nights so no thanks guys!. If you dont like ridiculous Q'ing time for drinks - simple AVOID.

Service in this place is absolutely dire. Not because the bar is short - it must be 10m length in total - but it gets ridiculously packed on Thursdays and Fridays without the staff on board to cope. Drinks are as pricey as you will find in West India Quay and the house music they play on Thursday nights is pedestrian at best. Nice loos though. I am a 'Wharf worker and only come here when someone's made the poor choice of holding their leaving do here.

I like this place, its neither too posh nor too common, usually plays pretty funky music but not too loud so you can still hold a conversation without screaming! They have a decent selection of beers - draught and bottled - so if you're into trying new things, or are an accomplished beer drinker there is bound to be something for you. Bottles of Pawel Kwak are good and they serve them up in what looks like something from a science lab (you'll see what i mean if you get one!). Prices are fairly high, but not any more or less than anywhere else in the Wharf - not counting Wetherspoons, but if you like that then you dont deserve to go into 1802!

Prices were not too bad, however bar staff were atrocious with serving times, but they were very friendly when they eventually saw to your needs. Fairly busy in here with all the suits on a Friday night, but imagine it will be dead at weekends shall have to pop back and check it out!

Another Canary Wharf bar with simply ludicrous prices, but this place is the most ludicrous of the lot! No decent beer on draught, had two half-pint bottles of I believe Landlord in here once which worked out to 6 a pint!! Often has a chinless DJ which no-one takes an interest in. The place is full of apprentice tossers, learning their trade before they become fully-fledged tossers and move on to Bar 38. I'd rather drink out of the dock than in here.

Another place I shouldn't like, but I do. You get the impression 1802 wants to be too cool for school - and a lot of the customers definitely want to be too cool for school. But the fact is - this is a nice, slick place to go for a beer (there's a lot of strong continental stuff on sale). The staff are friendly, the customers are a lot more pleasant than they think they are, the beer is strong and cold, and the surroundings are busy but never stupidly packed. A great place to go with the missus or on a date - they're happy because it's smart and you've made the effort, you're happy because it's pleasant and sells the sauce to get you commendably inebriated whilst gaining brownie points for the choice of venue.

Horrible, souless place. My laydee friend, had her bag nicked in here before Xmas. They have no doorstaff or CCTV... and when we reported it stolen, they mentioned it happened 'frequently'.

A bar that charges exorbitant prices for bog standard drinks, but won't invest minimal amounts in the safety of their patrons and their possessions.....hmmmmm!

Only been here once & was shocked at the proces in comparison with the service. Poor bar

Great for relaxing on a quiet Sunday afternoon, brilliant for kicking off a busy Friday night! Superb selection of beers too - you could drink your way around the world in here no problem. Check out the Tequila flavoured beer (Desperados) and the Aluminium Heineken bottles on the back bar! Management are friendly, and the staff seem to know their stuff too.

Atmosphere is akin to a morgue - much better bet to go to Via Fossa or Bar 38

I love the steak sandwich in this pub/restaurant - you can't get better. However if you are there for a drink on one of the busier nights the service is really bad. Lots of different beers to choose from though.

used to be a great bar a few months ago but the service has gone downhill and the bald manager is very rude. got a mojito what tasted some what awful and when asking for it to be replaced was told that it was meant to taste like that-not in my book.

You just have to go here on a saturday evening when the DJ knocks out some wicked tunes.
Chilled out and not too heavy a great way to start your night.
The cocktail list is nearly as long as the beer list and that is saying something.

Nice, sort of chilled out way to spend a cloudy Saturday evening and it's in a fantastic location, right by the Docklands Museum.
Plenty beers, including a very nice Strawberry beer but it is pretty pricey. 12 for three pints?

You have to try the lamb burger! Simply fantastic!

Lovely pub! Not too smoky, nice comfortable furniture, good wine list, chilled out music and excellent service with a smile! Bit pricey but you get what you pay for in this town!

Surprisingly good food

THEY HAVE LOADS OF DIFFERENT BEERS AND SPIRITS SOME BEING QUITE UNUSUAL, BIG COCKTAIL LIST AND NICE DECOR,GOOD DJS
SIMON - 22 Oct 2003 21:28
They sell thirteen different Rums. What is unlucky about that?
anonymous - 14 Oct 2003 10:49
The 1802 is on the site of the recently opened Museum in Docklands. Good, simplistic decor with a fair amount of space makes for a good atmosphere. Doesn't fill to capacity like the other bars in WIQ on a friday. On the negative, it's a bit on the expensive side.
Dapa - 23 Aug 2003 21:59
35 different bottle beers,7 on tap, 50 cocktails, superb food & lovely helpful staff
