Greene King has changed its mind no longer for sale
anonymous - 19 Jun 2009 12:07 |
Greene King announced that it wants to sell The Zebra (21 May 09) and it is apparently priced as "appropriate for housing, not for a public house". So, farewell a good, reliable pub. Pity.

Pub just changed hands at the start of July 2007. Now serves Greene King IPA, seasonal ale, Speckled Hen and sometimes other beers. Has the usual set of lagers, spirits, etc, if that's what you want. The seasonal ale at the moment (mid-July 2007) is GK's Ale Fresco, which was very well-kept. Food has changed to a set of Polish dishes, including a good vegetarian selection. The same menu is served lunchtimes and evenings. The Polish dish I had was a large portion, well-cooked meat loaf with freshly cooked potatoes, salad, and mixed vegetables. I would definitely recommend it! I've been going to the Zebra on and off for a decade, it's gone back to being a good pub now.

Good food and beer and friendly people. Seems destined always to suffer for its location though, could do with a bit more life

Loved their Mexican Pizza. The quiz night was a lot of fun as even the locals had fun with the emcees accent. The guest beers were very good the days I visited.

Very nice, friendly place. Only downside is the drinks are a bit expensive.

Well worth a visit if you fancy a few beers and perhaps one of their excellent, large and cheap pizzas.
