We visited The Ship after a lovely day on the Dartmouth Steam Railway, which is definitely recommended. Tucked away on a narrow hill just off the Ferry road, next to the church and almost behind Kinswear railway Station. Good vibe, with Dartmoor Jail Ale and St.Austell Proper job on... great views from the small garden to front. Recommended.

Close by the station and foot ferry and then up a slight hill you will find the Ship Inn that appears in the 2015 GBG and has done for the last 10 years.
5 hand pumps that on my Thursday afternoon visit had Sharp's Doombar, St Austell Trelawny , Otter Ale and Adnams Southwold Bitter on them. My pint of Trelawny @ 3.8% was good.
2 bar areas served by 1 circular bar, the barmaid was efficient and friendly. It was just before 4pm when we arrived and within minutes it filled up and became really busy.
Outside area overlooking the bay and Dartmouth.
A decent pub but I have been in better, the ales was good though

No less than a 10 from us. Excellent cider, great view, brilliant food and top service including our dogs getting some free sausages!

Lovely old pub in one of the back streets. Very busy as a steam train from London with 350/400 people on board had come in. Fairly boring range of ales on including two from Otter (again!). Landlord rushed off his feet and wishing he said he'd been told there was a special train coming in. Well he had been told actually, I emailed him 4 days before but as he says he doesn't read the emails that go the website. So there you go, 26 pubs a week are closing and we are all wondering why ...aren't we? BTW I thought the website was rubbish. The landlady cooked us some food which was delicious.

Terrific pub. Friendly staff and regulars. Proper old fashioned interior, nice terrace with glorious views of the river and Dartmouth across it. Otter Ale was delicious. Highly recommended

This is the best pub in Kingswear. A decent layout and a cosy feel, also a friendly landlord what more could you want. 10/10

This is a nice pub, the way they should be..diligent staff, good, varied range beers on offer, and the beer well maintained. OTTER ALE very nice on this occasion. There are numerous nautical references within the pub as expected. The loos are outside, literally, which is a novelty these days. In my opinion, this is the best pub in the village. Beware of the ginger cat, it will make itself very comfortable on you if allowed to.

Amazed that this hasn't been reviewed before. Very friendly landlord - Colin (and Heather) interesting selection of beers available - Otter Ale seemed to be very popular with my companions - wasn't quite to my taste but the Youngs Bitter did the trick. Following night they had Castle Rock's award winning Harvest Pale which was excellent. We had a great meal there, which included some interesting dishes at reasonable prices - good wine list. An excellent, unpretentious 'local'.
