Arrived here 20 minutes before closing time on a Friday night as I wanted to tick it before it closed.
Busy inside, this large bar and restaurant is completely open plan inside, with an upstairs dining area.
As I say we only had time for 1 drink so I went for a pint of Atoms' Schrooder's Cat @ 3.5%, a decent pint. The 10 hand pumps had 7 ales and 2 ciders on, I cannot remember what they all were as I'd already had a fair few pints!
The bar is attractive and is copper topped.
Didn't spend enough time here to fully appreciate it.

Stunning choice of beers served by enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. Right in the middle of the town. If you like local real ales this place is mecca.

Great surroundings, beer and food. There were several beers of various types and strengths, all we had were in perfect condition. We had the early fixed price menu and to be fair you don’t get much. It was lovely though, for about £12 (I think) for two courses. This isn’t on their website. The seating downstairs is a bit wine bar-ish – picnic benches and Chestertons which don’t lend themselves to comfortable and relaxed eating. There are a couple of proper tables and I think upstairs is more of a restaurant but it might be a bit quiet.

Now THE place for real ale in Hebden Bridge. 8 handpumps serving a range of beers to suit all tastes. The 'house beer' is usually Magic Rock Curious. An enthusiastic and very knowledgable staff behind the bar. Outdoor drinking area. Restaurant upstairs. Dog friendly.

Huge floor area pub, expensively refurbished - crikey they even plated the long bar in copper sheet! Large and constantly changing range of 'local' ales all tasty so far - £2.80 average price so not massive relaunch price inflation. The menu did look uninspiring on opening but they have just revamped the menu and it looks more interesting. Staf are barely over 18 mostly but capable enough.
The sheer size of the place and open plan design can mean it can get quite noisy even with a few people in - not one for a quiet pint then, judging by the massive tables thats not the plan, but a godsend for Hebden on so many levels - hopefully the other places with try to compete.

The renamed "Old Gate" had 8 real ales on, including Magic Rock, Saltaire and Morrhouses breweries to name but a few. Quality was good. Loads of staff, all aproned up and willing to help with the beer selection and give tasters. It's a clean - echoeing big barn of a place with stone flag floor and stove at one end. A central staircase leads upto a dining area. The seating in the front bar area consists of very few large tables

Now open with at least 6 handpumps. Beers came from Oakham, Dark Star, Saltaire and others on the day I visited. Looks promising.

This pub is about to reopen as The Old Gate after a major refurbishment. The new owners also own The Fire House in Sowerby Bridge A good selection of Real Ales is promised and there will be a restaurant upstairs

Yes, it's definitely closed.

Had a good pint of Saltaire a while back. Seems to have closed again, I suppose it's run by one of those incompetent pub companies..
