Pub just outside Bury St Edmunds that I'm struggling to recall too much about, as it was at the end of a long day. Greene King IPA, Adnams Broadside & Bitter, Steambox Derail Ale & Exmoor Ale were the ales. I seem to remember it being busy.

went to fox and hound today ,looks impressive from the outside ,staff are friendly but unfortunately the food does not impress to the same standards. had the admans beer battered cod which didn't taste of anything other than cod not even a hint of a beer taste, also it was one of the boniest pieces of fish i had the misfortune of eating and have had a lot better meals in pubs which don't charge top prices for what is clearly low price food. my partner had the chicken and ham pie and although she said it was nice ,has had considerably better food elsewhere. wont be going again and certainly wouldn't recommend this place to anybody who like quality food at a reasonable price

Decent pub handy for the station with a few ales on. Had a pint of Woodforde's Nog and a maheer IPA both were good. Has a pool room (as opposed to Public bar) and Lounge area that has seating for diners in an area to the rear. A lot of Americans frequent the place (I'm guessing that is to do with USAAF bases in the area).

This pub is still going great guns and has just won the West Suffolk CAMRA pub of the Year AGAIN (third time in a row I think...) Very friendly and usually busy. There's always something new to try on the beer range and the Curry Night(Tuesdays) and Steak Night (Thursdays) are extremely popular. Its almost worth visting just for the incredible display of beer pump nameplates pinned up around the walls of the main bar. Highly recommended.

Saturday night - popped in on the offchance of getting fed and watered. Very pleasantly surprised. Very good beer choice - Ossett Brewery Silver King was delicious - and the food was hearty, plentiful and very cheap. Proper pub grub at proper pub grub prices. A nice bustling atmosphere too - this is well worth stopping off at

Great pub that's worth the trip to Thurston for as long as you're somewhere near the area. Real Ale range was limited on my visit last night but what they had (primarily Cottage's Norman's Conquest)was absolutely fantastic to my taste buds and was fresh and lively. Draft Adnam's Bitter was a bit more obvious a choice than the other guest beers that I had hoped to sample but was similarly fine. Prices were unlikely to cause much damage to your finance either. Atmosphere was very cosey and welcoming especially in the non-pool lounge. Staff were friendly and attentive and I never waited more than a couple of minutes to be served despite the pub becoming steadily more busy throughout my time there. Decor and furniture were unfussy and comfortable and helped me feel instantly at ease. It was a shame that I'd already eaten before my visit as Thursday night is their "Steak Night" where in addition to a list of fine sounding steaks you could also enjoy some more exotic meats such as Ostrich, Kangaroo, Wild Boar and even Crocodile for a not particulalry cheap but certainly reasonable price. If the food is as good as the beer this may well be on the way to acheiving some sort of Pub nirvana! Oh and as an added bonus the clientele are generally polite, considerate and well behaved.

Proper village local and a genuine Free House - very refreshing in the heart of "Greene"land. Hosts are very welcoming and there is a fine regularly changing selection of 7 or 8 real ales from all over the country. This is CAMRA's Pub of the Year in this area for 2007. Very handy for the railway station.

A great 'local'. Well managed, great staff, good atmosphere, good selection of beers and reasonable prices. It feels like a part of the community it serves. As a non (ex)smoker I look forward to it becoming smoke free but I hope that doesn,t change it's character.

Very good village local with friendly staff and customers. Has a good selection of guest beers on and a guest lager. It's best to go on a Friday when the new beers go on.

Very good range of guest beers, always perfectly served. Not tried the food as the portions look far too huge for me. Very friendly and running lots of events now - management are doing a great job

Getting better evry day lots of very good and loyal regulars still a great atmosphere and yes the food is excellent and service is good. Mandy and Bernie have certainly made it one of the best pubs round here for food and a great repository of beers from all over GB. as to the smoke well folks it is a village pub after all and not a resturant that sells beer. It is by far the best Pub South of Bury St Eds

Nice pub, fantastic range of well kept real ales, and the menu looked extensive and well priced. Very busy, which is always a good sign! Service was excellent. Only down side was the very smokey atmosphere, it seemed much worse than most pubs, and I went away with my clothes absolutely stinking!

This pub is basically rubbish but we all grew up aropund the area so it's a good place to bowl into at 10pm Xmas eve and stay late. Bar staff are friendly (it's been through a large number of landlords in the last 15 years) and real ales are generally excellent. It's a nice building to. Pity about the horrid new build houses next door with their tiny windows.
