It's open again. Pubs within the City walls are rarely closed for long, so worth checking your 'day out'

Is doing great food just try the homemade yorkhire puds! Its well and truly open contary to rumours suggesting otherwise.
Every wed night is acoustic night great atmosphere
and some extraordinary talent plus fantastic FREE
chip butties

Wenesday folk music night appealed to a guy I was drinking with, so we went the once. Beer OK, but uninspiring, otherwise pretty unremarkable. Owned by Local Heroes pub group (Golden Lion, Ackhorne, Tap and Spile) and doesn't really match up to the other 3.

Now The Yorkshire Hussar. Totally refitted, brilliant beers and excellent service, nice beer garden and a fantastic BLT, been 3 times and will go again. Hopefully will be back on the drinking map soon

This pub has now re-opened in Saturday evening it was very quiet sat in the beer garden try to get there its well worth a visit, very friendly bar staff.

Sadly now closed. Saw the skips outside yesterday so any chance of this place remaining a pub seem remote. Ten years ago this was part of the York pub scene, but now, like a lot of others, it's got forgotten and neglected and now seems destined to be some other form of business or yet more flats.

Currently adorned with "Pub to let" signs. Has hardly any punters these days apart from one or two spiky haired Alex Parks lookalikes.

A very pleasant pub, with front and back rooms, a very pleasant setting. Also on offer were at least three real ales, and a good seletion of offers on spirit based drinks. A great place to have a drink, sit in the no-smoking room and chat. Also a very hady place to stop into on a night out as is often over-looked by many due to its central, but hidden, location.

Food is good and reasonably priced usally got a varied selection of ales on as well

Last port of call on our Pre-Christmas pub crawl, as the Maltings is always too wedged. Beers varied and good Winter ales. Took advantage of the non-smoking room for some banter. Most people under-rate this pub, but if the Maltings is too frantic, a welcome alternative.

Has remarkably nice red wine! I discovered that by accident...
Non-smoking room is very quiet & with little atmosphere, but at least they have one.
The Maltings is much better for beer, though, and it's only a short walk away.
Perfectly placed for a quick pint while waiting for your take away from the Indian across the road.

Known to a lot of York folk as "T'other Tap" since it used to be the second of York's Tap & Spile pubs before the refurb.
Not a bad place at all, even if it is thoroughly outclassed on the beer front by the Maltings round the corner. Not had a bad pint in there, but tend to avoid the place because of the clientele (see below)
Lots of little snugs and (aah!) a smoke free room. Don't go on folk nights though - last time me and a bunch of mates did, some bearded tosser loudly shushed and then started verbally abusing anyone who so much as drank their beer too loudly. I could have cheerfully strangled him.
On the upside, it's just across the road from the Akash, another one of York's fine curry houses :-)
