The Sun is situated in a great location next to the Minster and not far from the railway crossing. It has a main bar area where a band was setting up, a conservatory area to the rear and an outdoor drinking space beyond that. There is also a small separate seating area to the right as you enter. Furniture is minimal. Ales were York Guzzler, Morland Old Speckled Hen, Black Sheep Best Bitter, Greene King Doosra & Timothy Taylor Landlord. Ok, but certainly not the best pub in Beverley by a long shot.

trev2906 Utterly shocking I would have though this is a matter for the local constabulary too.

Last night my wife and I visited The Sun Inn and even had a game of bingo. During this, we noticed that the woman in charge of the laptop - which operated the numbers - was working with 2 of her mates and making sure that they won by adding numbers from their bingo tickets onto the laptop to generate the numbers that were called.
Despite all 3 of these frauds realising they were being watched, they carried on regardless until they had won both games. When I approached all 3 and told them that I knew what they were up to, they just laughed!
Now I know this isn't The Great Train Robbery or Brinks Matt, but it's disgraceful, dishonest and illegal; nobody else playing had a chance of winning anything, and we have been fleeced of our money. I'll be reporting this to Beverley council and the brewery!

I think this is the oldest pub in Beverley, been extended over the years. Now has live bands and is a popular place. Original parts still exist if you look around. Beers good but are very pricey. Check it out!

The women-folk had gone to look round the Minster so this was a handy pub for us blokes!! Black Sheep Bitter;Taylors Landlord and Old Speckled Hen on tap. Beer was fine and they sell Seabrooks crisps!! Sunday lunches were still being served even though it was 4.30pm and the advertised music hadn't turned up so we had a chance for a chat and a pint. Friendly staff and not too far for us to get back to the station. Look out for the "cellar" door. Beams and wooden floors. Not a bad boozer at all although it may be a bit different when the live bands are playing.

Had a nice pint of "Landlord" here. Very busy with a nice atmosphere although went there to see the advertised band. I don't know if they just didn't turn up or the advertisment was just meant to get you in there but didn't see any sign of them so moved on to the Oddfellows Arms (not listed here).

Recently taken over by two couples who have put 100% into cleaning the place up and look as though they are there permanent having spent a lot of money on the place, they seem very very committed to bringing the pub back to the good old days I wish them lots of luck and hope that the folk people give the a chance.

Unfortunately this is one of those pubs that changes name/landlord/staff etc by the month. Fortunately, it's a good building, with a decent cellar, and with a good landlord, it's a fine pub. We visited today (a re-visit), and there was Spitfire, Landlord and other decent ales on. As it's the folk festival weekend, there were a few brave souls singing. Don't be put off, see how you would feel doing the same!! The pub re-opened a few years back having been stripped back and rebuilt around original structures, and it had a tour of the progress that had been made, but it seems to be being overtaken by successive alterations. It's a decent pub, not trendy, but usually with decent beers and clientelle. If you drive a car with darkened windows and mindless, throbbing music then this is probably not for you.

This is the centre of Beverley's folk music crowd, so look out for tank tops and foaming tankards. good well kept real ales.

Just within staggering distance of Beverley Youth Hostel, this used to be the 'Tap & Spile' (apparently)
Olde-worlde boozer with oak beams, amazing range of guest ales and Hoegaarden on draught (yeah!)
Always been a bit on the quiet side when I've been there, but it doesn't seem to get as ludicrously busy as some of the other pubs in Beverley. Nice atmosphere.
