Unchanged from my visit 6 years ago except that they now sell Guinness Golden Ale in addition to the usual keg beers.

Not sure if the comment below refers to a previous landlord, as I have visited a few times over the last 12 months and found two bar staff from the Emerald Isles. Small pub, usual suspects on tap - San Miguel, Carling etc, they do a nice pint of Guinness to boot and offer a small variety of food.
Its a cosy little pub and is a good place to go when they have an open mic on or a singer.

Avoid like the plague shan irish pub with nasty landlord who dooes not employ Irish staff & discriminates on grounds of disability

I liked it! Good place to relax with a few pints and a paper, or see football in a relaxing atmosphere. Friendly young lad behind the bar to.

Paid a fleeting visit here on Sunday lunchtime after starting my drinking in the James Monro next door (not listed on here). As stated by Wirraldrinker, this is a typical Irish pub. Although on my visit there was no other clientele. Only keg beers were available - Carling, Guinness, Carlsberg, Cains Bitter, San Miguel and Strongbow. The floorspace is quite small. But the ceilings are high. The picture of the pub above gives you a good indication as to what it is like. It has a strange mish-mash of furniture and a brick bar. Music was playing and a TV was on. A sign on the outside indicated this used to be called the Rising Sun. Nothing to shout about.

An 'Oirish' pub which I used to frequent years ago when I worked in the city centre. I recently went in there again. It hadn't changed much. All sorts of implements hanging from the ceiling and old adverts on the walls. Clientelle were a bit rough and ready.
No real ale but decent Guinness.
