Still a traditional pub with a decent choice of cask ales; opens later than other pubs in the area. I hear it has changed hands recently and hope it carries on as good as it has been!

Excellent, traditional pub with long bar and wooden panneling. 5 cask ales and a cask cider. The Moose Abuse Juice I tried was excellent. Friendly barman. Well worth a visit - I will be back!

Superb pub with friendly welcome and helpful bar staff. The ale - White Rat, on my visit - was in tip-top condition. The sandwiches, served with real chips, are filling and tasty. Definitely a 10/10 and a must visit.

A new landlord with great enthusiasm for the place and its history . Definitely pulled its socks up up over the last year or so . Clean , refreshed and getting popular with all ages . Good circuit pub at weekend as are all in that area but with a sensible weekday crowd . A small but tasty menu and looking at expanding to the current underused function room upstairs . Great selection of real ales and the usual lagers for the boys! Pipers crisps , pickled eggs , DVD playing of old pubs of Hull ( available to buy), covered smoking area in the old courtyard , also getting a makeover , what more do you need . Oh yes nice new toilets !!..... Original bench seating along the back wall with stools facing . And my partner particularly noticed that ALL the bulbs in the chandeliers work every time we go in !!. And check out the smallest window , always popular and what makes the bar famous!!

The current landlord seems to be running the pub down. Maybe he is leaving. Went in on the weekend ripped seat where i sat so shuffled around. Gone was the London Pride i use to drink here so got a pint of Clarks bitter. Not impressed. Its a top end of the market price wise but dissapointed on my last visit

A lovely exterior on one of Hull's most comely streets, this one room bar ia a pleasant place to kickstart a crawl of the East Riding city. Friendly service and a well preserved pint of golden ale added to the mood. A good antidote to a particularly horrendous looking Wetherspoon's down the street.

It was a Saturday night and this part of Hull is thronged with drinkers and pub-crawlers so we expected The George to be busy which it was. Beer was fine and the buidling is lovely (great name for a street too!!) However, I will now have to visit the doctor to have my ears checked as the music was so loud you could have heard it back in Berkshire!! Why,oh,why do they have to do this - nice pub good beer, good company ruined by blaring inane musak. We downed out pints quickly and the girls left theirs just to get out of the place. Having said that I am sure that this is a terrific place on a quieter occassion! It was so full and so loud we did not really get a chance to appreciate it. So if we are ever in Hull again.....

Nice, friendly, welcoming boozer with great ales and old rosie cider.
|
Nice old building housing a fairly basic boozer. It's not classy, but the food is cheap and good value, though beer nothing special. Worth a pit stop.
|
Nice traditional pub with good choice of real ales. The Tribute from St Austell Brewery in top form.
Juke box played plenty of 80's stuff which was fine.

Beer kept in great condition. Food is good too.
The post by oldboots about the clientele i think he/she must have visited in the lunch time as the pub is situated near all the solicitors offices, it's a different scenario in the evening when some of the tables a removed and the pub is made wider for standing customers.
I do believe free wi-fi is available too

Pleasant panelled interior with traditional furnishings in a larger hotel. Situated in the wonderfully named street 'Land of Green Ginger'. Four handpumps with beers from Fullers (London Pride), Hopback (Summer Lightning) St Austell (Tribute) and Adnams (Broadside) in decent condition. Very foody smell to the place and very middle aged besuited customers.
