Yup, it has indeed re-opened. As the 3rd branch of the Yak and Yeti restaurant chain. A great place to eat, but such shame that a wonderful old building could not have been kept in its former guise and returned to what would have had the potential to be a very nice venue for a pint.

Yes, it's now re-opened. Taking bookings for Christmas, apparently. Not too sure that it's a curry house, though?

Apparently soon to re-open as a curry house.

My Grandfather used to drink here in the 1920s' when it was simply "The Greyhound" a few doors from Mellin's the Chemist. Even I can remember drinking in this place in the late 70's and finding it very tranquil. I'm glad it's closed now from what I've read. It's had it's day, and those around now don't deserve to enjoy what it used to be. RIP

Thank god this hell hole has finally been banished back to whatever circle of purgatory it crawled out of. Shame, though, because this means all the chavs will disperse to other pubs in the area. Not good news for the good folk of Eltham who knew where the crap spots were.

My first serious local boozer, back in the day when i lived in Eltham. Had many a great Friday night in there drinking snakebite and black. Mmmmmm yummy! Not.
Highlights included; decent jukebox, decent foster (though in truth it isn't hard to keep good fosters). Used to be pretty much an extension of school on those heady Friday nights.
Last went in there about 5 years ago. And it had been renamed "Ye Olde Greyhound". That initsekf was bad enough, but that did not prepare me the scene inside; It looked like a fashion show for Ben Sherman shirts and snide Burberry! Utterly without a redeeming feature. And just to top it off, waht i presume to be the landlordmanager's son, playing at being a DJ. Obiviously this goon though that to be a rockin' poub DJ all you need to do is wear a shell suit look like a cock and play crappy music badly.
To see such a formerly great pub reduced to this and then closure is sad indictment of the retards or have run this place since i was a regular.
Hopefully one day it can rise from the ashes and regain some of it's former glory, though i won't hold my breath.
I'm going to rate this pub, but bear in mind that I'm going to rate it as i knew it back in the long summer of 1990. Not the snothole it became!

Closed at last but please don't let it turn into another crazy themed eaterie.
|
This is currently closed and boarded up. Looking at the previous comments, many will say this is not a bad thing. My only previous experience of this pub was on a Sunday evening 4 years ago when it was full of undesirables singing excruciating bad karaoke. Obviously things never improved.

I Was threatened; Can i have my rolex back now.

Recent Refurb and new management ive heard.

whilst deservedely knocking this pub, those that are rubbishing Eltham as a (w)hole obviously havent lived in other parts of London as i have. how many other areas can you walk around with a Rolex without feeling threatened?
