I can confirm that this pub is still closed. The building is still there and the frame of the sign is also still standing. But sadly it is closed for business.

NO LONGER A PUB. Needs to be removed. Illegal (maybe) immigrants living head to toe in a building running a cars sales venue
watching_them_4_you - 22 Sep 2010 23:37
Currently closed and being used for living accommodation, looks unlikely to re-open as a pub.

Sadly Harefield2003 is right here. An awful place where kids hang out w/e's. Good news is that it is very quiet weekdays. Hopefully, these tenants won't be here long

New tenants, and back to the bad old days of two years ago. Noisy disco/karaoke until 1.30 in the morning, and (Sunday 28th March) a large group of yobs shouting and girls screaming in front of the pub at the same hour.
Definitely a place to avoid if you want a quiet drink!

Please Note the White Horse is Open and not closed.

Lovely pub where the Landlord and Lady are very hospitable and welcoming. Fantastic garden for those summer eving drinks. Food is lovely home cooked and fantastic value.

Give it a try you have nothing to loose

The pub is a good friendly pub, with good beer and food. The landlord and landlady, are very nice people, with good bar staff. We went on friday night, had a great night. Was very impressed with the pub

I visited The White horse pub over the weekend. it is a lovely friendly pub with a good atmosphere. The food was fantastic. I had a lovely roast dinner, all cooked from fresh. The bar staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Well, the beer is just about OK - a pint of the Deuchar's IPA was decidely lacklustre and the Director's wasn't much better.

The kitchen is apparently up and running but sadly the quality's far below what it ought to be.

Food took quite a long while to appear - the barmaid informed us that it was all being prepared from fresh. (No problem with that.)

However, my sausage & mash with red wine & onion gravy was instantly forgettable and slathered with over-thickened granule-based goo, and if that was freshly-made mash, then I'm losing my sense of taste. My g/f's burger was (on the first attempt) raw and cold on the inside, and possessed of a disturbingly slimy consistency and an odd, acrid livery taste. (Made fresh that day, we were reassured.) Second attempt was at least hotter, but still ... well ... just as nasty. Money back, thanks.

Can't recommend this place, I'm afraid. Go elsewhere. (Visited 30th November 2007.)

Pub still looks OK - doesn't look like they have their kitchen up and running yet.

Beer is good

Landlady's pretty (nice change in Harefield)

Unimpressed after two visits in 2005 I too popped in twice on opening day after seeing the now open sign. Although Rory the new tenant has plans to serve pub grub in both bars as soon as he gets the new kitchen installed, make no mistake that he has turned it back into a real pub once again complete with GK IPA & Wells Bombardier on draught. The local real ale afficianados have started to drift back and not a chav in sight.
Was tanya_alc in the same pub as I?
Esseness - 12 May 2007 06:54
OH DEAR. Re-opened 4/5/07. Now a tenanted Punch Tavern (Yes that AWFUL outfit!). On my visit (4/5), there was no real ale available and the pub was ensconced (as was the garden) with CHAVS. Nothing ever changes, Uh?
tanya_alc - 5 May 2007 22:50
Can't say I'm surprised at the closure - now watch for the planning application!

Another Harefield Pub closed down
baron - 2 Feb 2007 10:53
Virtually empty on a thirst-inducing Sunday lunchtime. No food apparently (despite "all day every day" notice). New management have altered previous "separate areas" smoking policy - sign now reads "this bar and restaurant is strictly smoking" (hardly far-sighted in view of pending legal ban). Other notices make clear this is *not* a family-friendly pub. Had a passable pint of GK IPA but couldn't help wondering whether the new owners really want this C16 inn to succeed. Or are they thinking more of the site value for other uses?

Finally open without children running the jump. Paul, affable chap, doing his bit fot the populus. growing customer base, give it a chance, will be a great pub-on its way up definitely.
anonymous - 11 Jul 2006 11:09
Words fail me on this one! Probabaly the worst and most expensive pub I have ever visited. Total inability to keep and look after their two real ales. Run for kids, by kids. A simply appalling place.
Hallowed - 4 Jan 2006 21:07
used to be a great pub. new decor is nice but more like a hotel lounge than a pub. if yr not tripping over low furniture your tripping over rug rats. fella that owns this has a couple of great pubs. think this is his kids toy. get a grip and grow up. food variable had one good and one bloody awful meal here.
dave.c - 6 Oct 2005 19:20
i'd disagree about the beer lines, when ever I have been in there everything is cleaned and the beer tastes good to me!
bubbles07 - 26 Apr 2005 16:27
Good atmosphere, lovely food, nice deco. change from the usual dreary pubs. Would definitely recommend.

anonymous - 26 Apr 2005 16:25
Could be good if not run by children.
anonymous - 25 Apr 2005 21:11
Know for a fact that the beer lines have not been cleaned since the pub re-opened last September. Any decent pub cleans them at least once a week.

the refurb has been done great staff is nice. manger needs not to be one of the lads and flirt with them all. they need to get the chef back the chef nows wat he is doing, does it great.
anonymous - 18 Feb 2005 19:43
Briliant refurb, modern but not too in your face. The wine line is extensive and the food superb. The chef knows what hes doing with a daily changing menu including ostritch, Kangaroo and other delightfull treats. but if you want just a good old burger, you cant beat them here. homemade with homemade chips as well. the bar area needs a bit of work, the manager seems to lack enthusiasm at trying to build it. she would rather just alo the regular lads in who are always up for a laugh. she doesnt seem to have much respect for other staff members as well. this pub has potential, with plans gfor a refurb in the garden area, i wish it all the best for the future and will definately be back for dinner soon.
anonymous - 2 Feb 2005 12:03
Not a bad refurb. The new landlords have a bit to learn about the local clientelle.... Time will tell
Frobisher - 31 Jan 2005 12:27
Great when first refurbished but declining now. Run more like manager's personal drinking club (if your not in the in crowd your not made to feel welcome). Manager also allows people in that are barred from every other pub in area so not much point in having a local pub watch scheme. Restaurant side of pub fares better, chef doing a much better job than manager
anonymous - 6 Jan 2005 14:19
The refurb was very tasteful. New life been breathed into a stagnant pub between landlords. Beer is good, and food superb. Charlie and Lindsey are very good hosts.
HarefieldGuinness - 17 Dec 2004 09:34
A misjudged refurb with drinkers marginalised and bored, self-regarding staff who don't understand ale.
Truth_is_out_there - 5 Dec 2004 21:44
Just been refurbished (Summer 2004) but have not returned yet.
Scott - 1 Oct 2004 05:49
Pub nowhere near as good as it used to be - think the landlord is in a dispute with the owners.

No food served
Beers OK
Staff seem OK

Dick - 19 May 2004 12:35
Great pub in 80s was run by Alan and Pam (not Sheila). They have moved on - pub hasn't. Pam sadly died at the end of 2003 - she will be missed.
Peter - 15 Jan 2004 10:57
recently under new management, the white horse is a nice pub with traditional english food served by the usual young pretty waitresses. the lager is fantastic yet the pub hasnt got a good atmosphere as some of the other harefield pubs.
jon - 29 Oct 2003 01:02
Someone asked about pubs in Harefield and I remember this one from back in the mid 80s. Run by Alan and Shelia I think, it was known as the best place in Harefield for real ale and good pub grub. Located directly on Church Hill with a small car park out front where I recall dwile flonking on summer afternoons (its a Suffolk pub game really, go and check it out, it does exist). Anyone know what the place is like now?
