The White Horse, Harefield

Well, the beer is just about OK - a pint of the Deuchar's IPA was decidely lacklustre and the Director's wasn't much better.

The kitchen is apparently up and running but sadly the quality's far below what it ought to be.

Food took quite a long while to appear - the barmaid informed us that it was all being prepared from fresh. (No problem with that.)

However, my sausage & mash with red wine & onion gravy was instantly forgettable and slathered with over-thickened granule-based goo, and if that was freshly-made mash, then I'm losing my sense of taste. My g/f's burger was (on the first attempt) raw and cold on the inside, and possessed of a disturbingly slimy consistency and an odd, acrid livery taste. (Made fresh that day, we were reassured.) Second attempt was at least hotter, but still ... well ... just as nasty. Money back, thanks.

Can't recommend this place, I'm afraid. Go elsewhere. (Visited 30th November 2007.)
