Totally agree with Steamer1's comments below. Probably the most picturesque of all Ludlow pubs, and I really enjoyed sitting out front admiring the view down to Ludford Bridge, but why oh why such a poor beer choice... The place was empty on an October Sat afternoon when it should have been busy... Just Marstons Pedigree and Jennings Cocker Hoop to choose from. I like Cocker Hoop, but Marstons should let the licensee arrange at least one guest (maybe from a local micro brewery).

Gorgeous pub let down by the very average range of beers available from the Marstons range. Beers from Jennings, and two from Marstons, all similar styles and strengths. We went then the Church Inn which had many different styles and gravities on offer and was packed. It's not rocket science Marstons. Instead of closing 200 pubs perhaps if you let the publicans sell a decent range of beers you wouldn't have to. Shame, lovely historic inn that deserves better. By the way the first pint (Marstons EPA) was undrinkable.

Nice place. Marstons ales. Was very quiet when I visited. Seems to do good food at reasonable prices. Worth popping into.

Visited for Sunday lunch, a good value carvery. Quite small inside, more like a country inn than a town pub. Only two ale Cocker Hoop or Marstons Best (a decent well kept pint). Brilliant landlady, a real character! Nice place.

Has more of a restaurant than a pub feel. Ironic, therefore, that the Jennings was of a much higher standard than the food, which was edible but bland. Very busy, however, so perhaps we were just unlucky. Not a fan of Lionel Richie (the owner seems to be a fervent admirer and his picture festoons the bar) so didn't stay all night long.

A good pub. Coco hoop and Burtons Bitter. Nice location and even though its tied is of a standard to be included on and pub cruel.

Not been in here for 25 years until this last weekend. Hasn't changed - which is a good thing. Beer is fresh. Olde worlde atmosphere. Offers standard pub fayre. My Aunt's lasagna was cold in the centre. This was always a pub for drinking in and should as such remain.

Still looks like a traditional old fashioned pub from the outside and inside has a low beamed cieling, old doors, wooden paneling, open log fire, bench seats in the window recesses, and bar stools which retain it's pub feel inside. However, it is obvious on entry that this place is mostly about dining.

Having said that you can still enjoy a nice drink here especially if you pick the right time, and not feel like you are taking up someone's table, as there is a dining room to the left as you enter with the main bar to the right.

Jennings Cocker Hoop was on fine form and I think the other real ale offering was Marston's Pedigree.

We sat outside for an hour on a spring evening and chatted to a very friendly regular. Nice view down to the river. Another local had recommended it to us for the food though we didn't try (wish we had, the local Indian restaurants are a rip-off!).
A nice little place.

In the old part of the town, next to Ludlow's one remaining medieval gate. Had two evening meals here last week. Food good (an excellent steak), and good value, and beer OK, though only two (Marstons and Jennings) on draught. There is a dining area on one side, but we ate in the main bar, which has a good old-fashioned pub feel -- i.e. it hasn't been tarted up (yet). Busy on Saturday night, and the barman said that one should book at weekends.
